Wilderness (Special Base)

Jeremy Night sat cross-legged inside the tree hole. He was actively using the breathing method, which was the inner healing method.

A dense green energy like a tidal wave washed over the internal swellings. The swellings began to recede, and the pain lessened.

His Supreme Combat Body Talent had this self-healing ability. He was able to use the healing energy to heal his internal injuries after the battle.

Though it might not look like a major injury, it was necessary to heal them before they went unnoticed. He didn’t want the untreated injuries to accumulate.

As time passed, the remaining daylight faded and nighttime arrived. He was paying attention to his mental zone as well.

Stellaris had been continuously absorbing the natural energy. The amount of natural energy was neither strong nor weak; it was a steady stream of natural energy absorbed by her.

If it were too forceful, it would have caused disruptions in the environment.

Shortly after,

The sounds of howling and roaring echoed throughout the wilderness. But none of the sounds came near this territory.

Jeremy Night heard the sounds as well. He was worried. The things said by Elder John had already been proven wrong. There was corrupted beast activity along this border, including higher-tier beasts.

Now he started to realize why a worm-type beast had appeared earlier. The terrain might be difficult for land-type beasts, but for the worm beast, it was a different story.

The appearance of the worm beast was different from other worm beasts. It must have adapted to the place. There was a chance the beast had migrated from the unknown land.

Jeremy collected his thoughts. He had to spend the night without causing any disturbance.

As the night deepened, corrupted beasts started roaming the wilderness in large numbers.

Clashes also occurred between the corrupted beasts. It was a common scenario at night.

The sounds of the clashes spread across the area, reaching the ears of Jeremy Night as well.

From time to time, he used his eye powers to check. He then resumed the healing process.

Morning came.

Jeremy Night was completely healed. It was all due to the uninterrupted healing process that lasted the whole night. He felt motivated.

He then shifted his attention to Stellaris. He saw the natural energy steadily flowing into the beast egg. He didn’t know whether she was sleeping or recovering.

He then looked outside. It was time to get out of the tree hole. He removed the dry leaves and twigs before stepping out.

Thud!

He landed on the ground. The morning wind brushed against his face. He breathed in the fresh air and felt good. He then took out the helmet and decided to start the mission.

He put on the helmet and pressed the button.

Beep!

With that sound, the device activated. The helmet device started mapping the terrain. He then took out his own device to check the map.

He was at the shallow region of the border. It was one part of the southeastern border, and he might have to cover the entire stretch.

But before that, he started to devise a plan. He was not going to walk along the border stretch.

First, he decided to cross the border and try to explore the terrain across this shallow border where he was standing.

He looked at the map again. It was the official map, where he could see the marked and unmarked areas. The area of the shallow border was marked.

But the details of the plants, corrupted beasts, and terrain were missing. He might be the first one to come here after the elder who marked the place.

He then raised his head and looked around. He could recognize some plants and trees, but he didn’t have to worry about that; the helmet recorded footage as well.

Fortunately, he had removed the helmet before his battle against the Tier-7 Hard Rock Worm Beast earlier.

He then collected his thoughts and started moving forward. He looked at the device before putting it away. He was going to cross the border officially.

Because there were no details on the map, he continued to march forward. Soon, he was greeted by a different scene.

He came across cracked earth extending toward the horizon. There were scattered rocks and patches of withered grass. There was no green vegetation, neither plants nor trees.

"It’s barren," Jeremy uttered.

He was stunned by the contrasting scene. The land behind him was a green wilderness. After half a mile, the terrain had changed. It was a barren wilderness now.

Jeremy Night hesitated. The main goal of the mission was to explore the new land and map the place, but he could only see cracked earth extending to the horizon.

This barren wilderness was a large area. He could not tell whether the entire southeastern border was barren land.

He then collected his thoughts. He decided to go half a mile further before returning. He would look for clues as to whether any corrupted beasts had traversed the place.

...

Meanwhile,

Elder John was in his office. He was thinking about Jeremy Night. Right then, he got a call from Elder Sandra.

He answered the call and learned that Elder Sandra wanted to discuss something with him. He agreed to come right away.

John thought it must be related to the guests who were expected to arrive. He shook his head before standing up, then left the room.

A few minutes later,

He was in the meeting hall, not in Elder Sandra’s office.

Elder Sandra asked, "Did you get any news about the guests?"

Hearing that, John was taken aback. He didn’t expect the sudden question.

He shook his head and said, "No, I have been here at the special base after returning from the 5th Zone."

"Some of the families in City A within our zone have already started using their influence," Sandra said.

Hearing that, John was shocked. It was something unexpected.

"I think they might want the representatives to come early," she commented.
