STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 1069: A Patient Path
Wilderness (Special Base)
Forenoon
Jeremy Night had reached the main area of the wilderness. With the help of Stella, he was able to avoid the corrupted beasts-especially the Tier-5 beasts.
He was sure that if he had faced the Tier-5 corrupted beasts, fighting would have been inevitable. He avoided them to save energy and time.
He had only four days left on his time limit. He couldn’t waste time. Who knew? What if the Tier-6 beast was not in the area? It was possible that the Tier-6 beast was out looking for prey.
If the beast was constantly on the move, it would be hard to trace. Still, he kept covering the distance.
Suddenly, the forest cover came to an end. Ahead lay only vast, open land. Not only that, but he was now exposed to direct sunlight.
The heat was also causing problems. In the long run, the heat would exhaust him. He decided to find forest cover soon.
While walking along the path, he took out the device to check the map again. On the device, he saw an empty patch in the core area. It was vacant land.
He was in that vacant land right now. It would end in a few hundred meters, but he still had to walk those final stretches.
[Don’t worry, I see a series of large shade trees ahead.]
Hearing Stella’s voice, he felt relieved again. He had almost forgotten that she could use her power to scan the vast area.
Then he shook his head and said, "You don’t have to use your mental powers. It’s only a few hundred meters."
Hearing that, Stella agreed. She had seen Jeremy Night looking at the map earlier, so she was not worried.
She then resumed absorbing natural energy into her body.
Seeing the steady stream of natural energy flowing into the mental zone, Jeremy’s mouth curved into an arc. He didn’t expect Stella to enter practice mode.
Still, he knew she would help him if there was danger.
Time passed.
Not long after, he came across a large shade tree. Not just one, but a series of large trees greeted him.
Looking at the large shade tree growing over fifty feet tall with many branches, he decided to rest. He went to the nearest one.
He climbed up a branch before finding a good spot to carve out a hole. He got to work, and it took him twenty minutes to complete it.
After carving out the hole, he entered inside the tree hollow to hide. Only then did he feel safe from the heat.
He didn’t waste time. Instead, he used the Inner Healing method to circulate energy. The natural energy from the surroundings entered his body.
He began to guide the natural energy inside his body. As the natural energy flowed through the pathways, the cells in his body activated.
They began to absorb the natural energy as well. Seeing that his cells had become active, his eyes flashed with satisfaction.
There was a reason why he was doing this. He had to accumulate enough natural energy as well. Over the past few breakthroughs, he had relied on feedback energy to compensate for the accumulation.
If he could push his body to the limit without relying on feedback energy, then Stella could save that feedback energy for her own breakthrough.
As this realization dawned on him, he decided to dedicate a specific time each day to practice. It didn’t matter whether he was on a mission or not.
Only in that way could he help Stella. Right now, he decided to practice for one hour.
One hour later,
He ended the practice. He climbed out of the tree hollow and landed on the ground.
Thud!
Next, he resumed his journey. He looked at the sky. The sunlight was still harsh, but it was well past noon now.
On the other hand, Stella sensed that Jeremy had resumed the journey. Without telling him, she used a little bit of her mental power to scan the surroundings.
She didn’t find any corrupted beasts nearby. She then resumed the work of absorbing the natural energy.
Jeremy took out the device while walking. He had already reached the end of the treeline. What appeared next on the map was a semi-green area.
There was sparse vegetation alongside empty patches of land for a few miles.
Time passed.
Half an hour later,
[There is a Tier-6 beast ahead. But it is not a Stone Fox. It’s a four-legged hybrid beast.]
Jeremy heard Stella’s voice again, but he was shocked. He hadn’t spotted one yet. He activated his eye power, but the result was the same.
Through his enhanced sight, he didn’t sense any beast within range.
"What type of beast is it?" Jeremy asked.
[You will be surprised.]
He heard her voice again. Hearing that, he didn’t know what to say. He then asked her for directions.
When he heard where it was, he knew he might have to confront the beast. He couldn’t take a detour; the beast was located right in the territory of the Stone Foxes.
He followed Stella’s directions. After a few hundred meters, he saw a beast over five meters long. It had four legs.
The legs were those of a feline beast, but its upper body looked like a hyena. Jeremy Night’s expression shifted dramatically.
He had come across such a hybrid for the first time, and he was interested in fighting it.
Right now, the beast appeared asleep. But he knew the beast might already sense his presence, ready to launch a sneak attack.
Just as he had thought, the beast was indeed acting, as its two pointed ears suddenly rose.
Roar!
The next second, the Tier-6 beast rose from the ground. It let out a fierce roar that reverberated throughout the area.
Hearing it from such close range, just as he thought his eardrums were going to burst, Stella released her energy to protect his internal organs and brain.
He immediately felt relief from the high-pitched sound. He then took a combat stance and drew his blade, ready to face the beast.
