Chapter 1087: Changes in the Wilderness at Midnight

Time passed.

Inside the special practice room, Jeremy Night continued to observe Stella. He still felt unreal. Instead of the unknown beast egg, he now had the full body of the lifeline beast.

He didn’t know why, but he felt a huge weight lift off his shoulders. This feeling improved his mood. He became calmer and more confident.

The sense of uncertainty around his Lifeline Beast was gone. He could now fight alongside his Lifeline Beast like other Beast Tamers.

On the other hand, Stella’s wings were absorbing the natural energy in the room. The wings looked brighter and more beautiful.

The dark golden pattern lines that ran all over the wings had become dull. At the same time, the blue color became stronger in those white wings.

Midnight came. The night-shift staff had arrived at the association to take charge. They met with the admin staff and learned about the young man, Jeremy Night’s situation.

The night-shift staff were shocked. They didn’t expect the young man to continue staying inside the special practice room.

They didn’t know what was going on. They also learned that the manager had told them not to disturb Jeremy Night.

The night admin staff understood that there was no need for them to worry. If anything happened, no one would blame them.

The night staff then started their work, while the day staff left the premises.

As time passed, the night staff started patrolling the association. There were Beast Tamers returning from missions during the night as well.

This included both those who had completed regular missions and those who went to fight against the corrupted beasts.

The night staff helped them out. Slowly, they forgot about Jeremy Night.

Some were completing missions, but most of the Beast Tamers were fighting against the corrupted beasts in the hotspot areas of the wilderness.

The current situation out in the wilderness was tense. A number of beasts were crossing the border in the middle of the night and entering the wilderness.

Already, the number of corrupted beasts was higher than the number of Beast Tamers. The Beast Tamers were facing severe challenges.

The senior Beast Tamers noticed the changes on the battlefield. Their current hotspots were experiencing an influx of additional beasts.

If they didn’t take action now, the situation could become worse.

The Beast Tamers who had returned to the Beast Taming Association reported the situation to the night-shift staff.

They were injured. They needed time to recover.

Beast Taming Teams from the Beast Taming Association were fighting in the wilderness, and they wanted to send a message back.

So, the injured Beast Tamers who returned requested assistance. The night staff noted it down and sent the information to the higher-ups.

It didn’t take long for the elders of the association to receive the message from the admin staff. Usually, the admin staff sent regular updates to them.

However, it was rare for a message to come during the night. The elders who read the message treated it as a regular update from the staff.

Still, they decided to respond. Since the Beast Tamers were requesting help during the night, it was the elders’ responsibility to act immediately.

So, they sent a message to the contact of every Beast Tamer in the city. If there were any Beast Tamers resting in the city, they should go help out the Beast Tamers in the wilderness.

After sending the message out, the injured Beast Tamers returned to their families. Those who received the message decided to enter the wilderness in the morning.

It was too dangerous to enter the wilderness during the night. No one wanted to take the risk. More than that, the elders didn’t know the gravity of the situation.

They had framed it like a regular request. If they had known about the ongoing situation, they would have issued a compulsory order to everyone.

They didn’t know that this lack of communication was going to put a heavy burden on the hundreds of Beast Tamers out there.

Similar requests were sent back to the various factions in the city by their respective Beast Tamers. This included the Central University and the Beast Taming Families.

City Governor Evelina had been keeping an eye on the wilderness from the beginning. Even she couldn’t have foreseen that such changes would happen in the middle of the night.

The guards standing at the gate got the first news from the Beast Tamers returning from the wilderness. If only one of them had said it, they could have treated it as a coincidence.

However, the injured Beast Tamers were returning in considerable numbers. Everyone was reporting the same news: the hotspots where they fought had experienced a sudden influx of corrupted beasts.

They didn’t know where the beasts were coming from. If they didn’t take action soon, they could face severe consequences. The Captain of the guards reported the matter to the elders in the city office.

There were elders responsible for the night shift.

When they received the news, they didn’t delay like the Beast Taming Association elders.

City Governor Evelina had already given them instructions; she wanted to know about any changes happening on the battlefield.

Even if it was a small change or a rumor, she wanted to hear it all. So, they immediately contacted her.

Meanwhile,

Evelina was in her residence when her device buzzed. She quickly picked it up and answered the call. The elders then briefed her on the situation.

Her expression shifted dramatically. She had been waiting for changes to happen, knowing the powerful beast behind the current situation was making its move.

Evelina wanted to see more evidence. So, she instructed Tier-7 city officials to enter the wilderness. She wanted them to verify the situation with their own eyes.

She didn’t want to alert the whole city without evidence. Not only that, but as a Tier-9 Beast Tamer, she hadn’t felt the presence of any Tier-9 Beasts in the wilderness.

Even her Lifeline Beast hadn’t sensed it.
