Stronger with Crimson Modifier
Chapter 759: The 7 Gods (2)
Even if other Professionals learned this language, they wouldn’t encounter the same thing Hu Qi did.
This happened to Hu Qi because he used the Crimson panel to bring the language to the Perfect Realm.
That was what triggered this situation.
Understanding this,
Hu Qi was somewhat speechless.
‘No wonder they say one must be cautious with Mystical Knowledge.’
‘Even I almost crashed and burned.’
In that situation just now,
any other Professional
would have likely died.
Although he had temporarily broken free,
he still hadn’t completely eliminated the negative effect.
Feeling the weakness and powerlessness coursing through his body,
he cast his gaze to the status column.
[Status: Abnormal △ (Locked by an unknown power) (Influenced by an unknown high-level entity)]
His status was still abnormal, but now it included the influence of a high-level entity.
Seeing this,
an idea sparked in Hu Qi’s mind.
‘Crimson, remove the influence from the high-level entity!’
However, to Hu Qi’s surprise,
the panel didn’t immediately remove it.
Instead, a line of information appeared.
It explained that the medium for the influence was the Ancient Burrim Language.
If he removed it, he would lose his mastery of the Ancient Burrim Language.
Seeing this,
Hu Qi raised an eyebrow.
‘I didn’t expect something like this could happen.’
With that in mind,
he changed his command.
‘Then block it!’
The moment this thought appeared,
in the next second,
the panel reacted.
His Modification Points were instantly reduced by 10,000.
At the same time,
that subtle feeling of being watched by some distant gaze vanished completely.
Simultaneously,
all the negative effects on his body vanished.
The Heaven-Seizing Technique activated,
and the surrounding Spirituality rapidly surged into his body.
Hu Qi’s deathly pale complexion visibly returned to normal.
Only the scattered bloodstains on his linen clothes proved that what just happened was no illusion.
Hu Qi shook the water from his hands and, without lingering in the washroom, turned and walked back into the room.
However,
he suddenly stopped short.
His gaze, sharp as a blade, shot toward the shadows in the corner.
The corner of his mouth curved into a smirk.
“To think you’d actually dare to come after me!”
Before his words had faded, a ghastly green flame ignited out of thin air, instantly illuminating the dim corner.
“Aaargh!”
The shadows twisted and roiled as if they were alive, and a figure stumbled out, crashing heavily onto the floor.
It was none other than
the cowboy who had been secretly meeting with Ophelia earlier.
He had followed Hu Qi to the inn and waited for a moment
before sneaking inside.
There, he had discovered Hu Qi half-kneeling on the ground, apparently suffering from some kind of backlash.
He was hesitating on whether to retreat when Hu Qi suddenly appeared, instantly seeing through his hiding spot.
The cowboy’s face twisted in agony. Excruciating pain, like poison seeping into his bones, spread through him. He felt as if his very flesh was on fire.
As a Transcendent of the Shadow Walker profession, he could normally merge into shadows and pass through walls, making him exceptionally stealthy.
Normally, not even a Professional one Sequence above him could have detected his presence.
But now, he had been found.
Moreover, this kind of attack
was not something an Arsonist could possess.
At this thought,
a bold idea surfaced in his mind.
“…You… you’re not a Sequence Nine Arsonist. You’re a Sequence Eight Fire Torturer!”
Hu Qi ignored him.
He wasn’t unfamiliar with this man’s aura;
he had sensed his presence back in Ophelia’s room.
He just hadn’t expected the man would actually dare to follow him.
To Hu Qi, this was a golden opportunity delivered right to his door.
He had sensed the man’s arrival right after breaking free from the illusion,
but he hadn’t been able to act due to the lingering negative effects.
He had thought the man would leave,
but unexpectedly, he was still here.
He walked over to a nearby chair and sat down, projecting an air of authority.
He looked down on the cowboy.
“Now, I ask, and you answer. One bit of nonsense, and I’ll make you beg for a death that will never come. Trust me, I can do it.”
As his words fell,
the burning sensation on the cowboy’s body quickly subsided.
But in the very next moment,
a pistol appeared in the cowboy’s hand, its dark muzzle aimed right at Hu Qi.
His finger twitched,
ready to pull the trigger.
But the next second,
his vision went black.
CRACK!
The sound of breaking bone rang out.
Hu Qi’s figure had appeared before him out of nowhere, the sole of his black shoe slamming directly into the man’s face.
The force was so great,
a bloody tooth flew from his mouth.
The cowboy was sent tumbling into a nearby wall with a dull THUD, the pistol flying from his grasp.
Under this immense force,
the cowboy felt as if he’d been hit head-on by a charging rhinoceros; his body felt like it was about to fall apart.
The pain in his head and face was so intense he nearly lost consciousness.
He was about to let out a scream
when he felt the cold steel of a blade press against his neck.
“Make another move, and I’ll kill you right here.”
A cold male voice suddenly rang out.
The cowboy’s body trembled.
This time, he didn’t dare make the slightest move.
The man before him was simply too powerful to resist.
‘Such powerful physical attributes and reflexes…’
‘If I didn’t know Hu Qi was on the Fire Torturer path…’
‘I would have suspected he was a Warrior-path Professional.’
‘No, perhaps he’s even multiclassed into it.’
Just as this thought crossed his mind,
the next second,
Hu Qi raised a hand and pressed it to the cowboy’s forehead.
