Chapter 760: 7 Gods (2)
From his perspective as a Sequence Eight Fire Torturer, wisps of the Fire of Sin gathered inside the other man’s body. Then, drawn by the Invisible Power, they all converged in the man’s chest, forming a seed.
The man in the cowboy hat, meanwhile, felt only a slight pang in his chest.
Then, Hu Qi’s calm voice drifted down from above.
“I’ve left a little something inside you. Remember, I am your master now. If you dare betray me, the only end for you is death. If you don’t believe me, feel free to give it a try.”
The moment Hu Qi finished speaking, the cowboy suddenly trembled.
A searing, heart-rending pain exploded from his chest, as if a red-hot branding iron were being pressed directly onto his heart.
He crumpled to the ground, his limbs spasming uncontrollably as he foamed at the mouth.
A few seconds later, only a limp body remained on the floor.
The cowboy lay sprawled out like a dead dog, his face deathly pale. His sweat-soaked shirt clung to his violently heaving back.
“Yes, Master!”
Though filled with resentment, the cowboy had no choice but to lower his head in submission.
At that moment,
footsteps approached.
A few seconds later,
KNOCK KNOCK!
A knock sounded at the door.
“Guest, is everything alright?”
Outside the door,
it was the voice of the innkeeper.
Apparently, the commotion had been loud enough to attract his attention, especially since the soundproofing in rooms of this era was rather poor.
It had attracted his attention.
In response,
Hu Qi simply replied casually.
“It’s nothing, I just fell.”
Hearing Hu Qi’s explanation,
the innkeeper didn’t press the matter.
He just said, “My apologies for disturbing you,”
and left.
After all, Hu Qi had arrived alone.
He had only come to make sure his guest hadn’t died in the inn; not only would that be bad luck, but it could also bring him unnecessary trouble.
Once the innkeeper was gone,
Hu Qi sat back down on a nearby wooden chair.
He looked at the cowboy kneeling on the floor.
“Briefly introduce yourself.”
“Yes, esteemed Master! My name is Dick. The Professional path I walk is called [Shadow Walker], and I am currently a Sequence Eight Shadow Assassin…”
Dick struggled to his feet, wiping the blood from his face with his sleeve.
The purple boot print was starkly visible on his swollen face.
As a Professional, his Physique was indeed far beyond an ordinary person’s. Combined with the fact that Hu Qi had intentionally held back, his superficial wounds looked horrifying but weren’t actually serious.
Panting heavily, he haltingly explained his background.
His goal had been not only to monitor Hu Qi, but also to squeeze some money out of this seemingly rich rookie who looked like a mere Sequence Nine Arsonist.
As he finished, Dick’s lips twisted into a self-mocking smile.
‘Who could have guessed that this “fat sheep,” who appeared so harmless, was actually a vicious wolf in sheep’s clothing? Not only have I been captured, but now my very life is out of my hands.’
Ignoring the man’s thoughts,
Hu Qi casually tossed an ink-stained quill and a rough sheet of parchment in front of him.
He’d grabbed them from the wooden desk in the room; the edges of the paper still bore the waxy residue from a previous guest’s accounting.
“Now, write down all the information about your Professional path. Don’t leave anything out.”
Faced with Hu Qi’s command,
Dick didn’t dare refuse.
He picked up the pen and began to write.
Meanwhile, Hu Qi picked up the remaining book and started reading.
Hu Qi flipped through the pages quickly.
Before long,
he had finished the entire book.
But after finishing it,
Hu Qi couldn’t help but frown.
