Chapter 762: Seven Gods [3]

  • Next Chapter

The Seven Gods, also known as the Seven Great Gods.

This was the most widespread and popular system of faith on the Western Continent.

In the daily lives of ordinary people, faith in the Seven Gods was more of a spiritual anchor, a source of solace for the soul.

Much like how people on Blue Star used to habitually call out to God, faith in the Seven Gods here had become a cultural habit, ingrained to the very bone.

When surprised, people would blurt out, “By the Seven Gods.” When praying, they would unconsciously clasp their hands together. When in despair, they would instinctively pray to the Seven Gods.

This was despite the fact that most people went their entire lives without ever witnessing a divine miracle.

But this faith had transcended the scope of religion, integrating itself into daily language and becoming a natural way for people to express their emotions.

When farmers sighed over their cracked fields, when mothers stayed up all night for their feverish children, or when travelers lost their way in a storm, the prayer “By the Seven Gods” would slip from their lips.

But in reality…

…the Seven Gods, being deities recognized by the Federation, did indeed exist.

Within the Federation on the Western Continent, they had a vast number of churches and followers.

For instance, Night Crow Harbor, where he was at this moment, was a place blessed by one of the Seven Gods—the Lord of Ocean and Storm.

In fact, from the Pearl Islands in the Federation’s southern border to Frost Bay in the Northern Border, nearly all port city-states that depended on the sea for their livelihood devoutly worshipped this capricious deity.

Before setting sail, the people here would always hang flags bearing a trident and a storm on their ships to pray for a safe journey.

On this land, saturated by the salty sea breeze, people both relied on the ocean’s gifts and constantly feared the horrors that lurked beneath its deep blue surface.

Therefore, Hu Qi was not unfamiliar with the Seven Gods.

It was common knowledge that almost everyone understood.

These Seven Gods were:

One, Master of the Celestial Vault·Celestia.

Symbolizing: sky, light, order, and royal authority.

Two, Night Goddess Luna Viera.

Symbolizing: the moon, night, secrets, and the unknown.

Three, Master of the Sea·Tizoros.

Symbolizing: the ocean, fury, lightning, and storms.

Four, Fertile Earth Mother Gaia.

Symbolizing: the earth, life, harvest, and healing.

Five, God of Wisdom Alcaron.

Symbolizing: knowledge, mystery, truth, and prophecy.

Six, Lord of the Netherworld·Modis.

Symbolizing: death, shadow, reincarnation, and rest.

Seven, Master of War·Krotos.

Symbolizing: fire, war, weaponry, and courage.

Besides these Seven Gods, there were faiths in other deities, but none could compare to these Seven Great Gods.

In response to Hu Qi’s question, Dick shook his head.

Then, as if he had remembered something, he said,

“Regarding information on ranks above Sequence Four, I once saw some records about it in an ancient text. Sequence Three is called Demigod, Sequence Two is Celestial God, and as for Sequence One, that is Main God.

“As for the Seven Great Gods you mentioned, my lord…”

At this point, he paused.

He seemed extremely wary of discussing the Seven Gods.

But he couldn’t refuse to answer Hu Qi’s question.

“I’m not entirely sure about that, but by my guess, they are at least Sequence Two Celestial Gods, or perhaps even Sequence One Main Gods.”

Hearing this, Hu Qi’s eyes glinted slightly.

‘If that’s the case, then my objective—to hunt a Main God—is likely to kill a Sequence One being.’

Just then, Dick’s hesitant voice continued.

“The reason ordinary Professionals are said to be unable to touch the Domain of the gods is that regardless of their Professional path, breaking through past Sequence Four might involve the authority of a deity.

“There are even rumors of some official, common pathways that originate from the Seven Great Gods.

“If one is favored by a True God,

“it’s possible to reach Sequence Three, the Demigod Realm.

“Based on currently known information, the highest-ranking Professionals on the entire Western Continent are only at Sequence Four.

“As for Sequence Three, it’s rumored that the legendary figure who founded the Celestial Dragon Federation a thousand years ago was quite possibly a Demigod who had reached the Sequence Three Realm.

“This claim is mentioned sporadically in historical documents like the *Origin Examination*. He was said to be the one closest to the gods and was called the Son of God.

“But because so much time has passed, it’s impossible to know if this information is true or false.

“Perhaps he was just a legendary Sequence Four Professional who was glorified by the ignorant masses.

“As for some at Sequence Two, or even Sequence One, they seem to be unique!

“It’s simply impossible to reach that level.”

Dick’s words were filled with reverence.

What he said wasn’t difficult to understand.

A Professional’s path might branch out starting from Sequence Eight, like the boughs of a tree.

There are numerous paths to choose from.

But the length to which each branch can grow differs.

Besides, there is a saying: all Great Daos lead to the same destination.

The paths of Professionals originate from these gods and various other high-level beings.

When one reaches the same level as these beings,

they will inevitably have to contend for authority and for their own Great Dao.

This also causes one’s own power progression to stagnate.

To put it simply, there is only one slot for each position.

If someone has already taken the spot, you naturally can’t advance any further.

Unless the source of the path you are walking on perishes,

only then can you be promoted.

Thus, this brings up another huge problem.

Regardless of the system, at the beginning, it might be possible to fight above your rank.

But as one’s power increases, the gap between major Realms will only grow larger and larger, becoming an impassable chasm. Trying to cross it is harder than ascending to the heavens.
