Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1218: Resisting Identity

  • Next Chapter

The bolt turned corporeal as soon as it reached the mirror image. It had to become corporeal to affect its target. While the anchoring line was the target, attacking it directly wouldn't accomplish anything. The line was essentially endless since it stretched into reality itself. In order to break the line itself, one had to break reality itself.

The goal of the attack was to detach the anchoring line from the mirror image. In order to accomplish that, the attack had to destroy the outermost layer of the mirror image. If the outermost layer were destroyed and replaced by a foreign force, the anchoring line would lose all possible points on which it could connect to the mirror image, detaching it.

As soon as the bolt turned corporeal, the mirror image reacted to the threat. The lines connecting it to its Avatars shone in a bright light. The connecting lines siphoned Pure Energy out of the six Avatars, and the anchoring line delivered logical concepts to the mirror image. The Pure Energy and the logical concepts combined and turned into different Energies.

One provided the fuel, while the other provided the mechanics.

The Energy took on the form of Kyle's Infused Law before charging right towards the bolt. All six Avatars delivered Energy to the mirror image's defenses. Yet, four of them delivered far more Energy than the other two. The last two Avatars couldn't give as much Energy since they were currently using their Refined Law to attack the Minor Immortal. Their Energy was busy.

These waves of Energy had a combined weight of four Beginner Immortals, which was just as much as a Minor Immortal had access to. The bolt also had the Energy equivalent of a Minor Immortal.

On one side was a dark bolt of fiery lightning. On the other side was a colorful storm of Elements. The storm of Elements moved as a concentrated unit. Yet, just before the two sides clashed, the bolt turned into countless small bolts which all moved in individual arcs.

The small bolts hit the storm of Elemental Energy, and within an instant, one thing became clear.

BOOOOM!

The storm of Elemental Energies broke into pieces as the durable bolts scattered and redirected their powers. The bolts made countless small alterations in how they used their resources, while the storm just mindlessly moved forward. The bolts adapted, while the storm remained unchanging.

One side was using raw force, while the other side adapted and reacted to changes. The Elemental storm of Kyle's Energy lost over 40% of its intensity, while the bolts barely lost 10%. This was the power of sentience. The Sentient Elements adapted and reacted. They changed their approach whenever they realized that something wasn't working.

A moment later, the Elemental storm was completely destroyed. The bolt had only lost 25% of its Energy. None of this was surprising. After all, the bolt had the power of a Complex Level Ten Law, while Kyle's Infused Law only had the power of a Complex Level Nine Law.

The bolts spread across the mirror image, leaving burning crevices behind. The crevices spread across the entire mirror image, and then...

BANG!

The anchoring line was disconnected as a crevice destroyed its current anchoring point. Within an instant, the anchoring line reattached itself to a different point.

When the anchoring line was detached, the mirror image used its last line of defense. Deep inside it was the embryo of Kyle's own universe. There was a hammer, but it was illusory and weak. This was Kyle's very identity, and if it were destroyed, he would die.

Under normal circumstances, this would already be the end. The Infused Law was the most powerful defense against a Soul Attack, and it usually used over 90% of all available Energy. If it broke, everything would be over. The Infused Law represented the defending army, while the identity represented the peasants behind the castle walls.

To Kyle, it felt like only a small instant had passed. Yet, within that small instant, he made a crucial realization.

The Abyss Hammer Team hadn't been affected. In that moment, he sent out a simple order.

Help!

He didn't know how he could help. He didn't know what he could do. He simply told the Abyss Hammer Team to help without knowing how they could help.

Within an instant, Kyle couldn't sense the Abyss Hammer Team anymore. Just like the Karmic Hammer Team, they had vanished.

Only darkness remained.

At that moment, a storm of Energy rushed from the second mirror image to the first one. The anchoring line didn't deliver concepts this time. After all, the mirror image had already engaged its last line of defense.

The Energy flooded into the embryo of Kyle's universe and transformed. However, there was a good reason why the mirror image used the Infused Laws to defend against Soul Attacks instead of one's universe.

The Energy washed over Kyle's universe and changed into unrecognizable Energies. These Energies were chaotic and contradictory. They did not follow the Laws of the Cosmos, or more precisely, they didn't follow this Cosmos' Laws.

This was the embryo of Kyle's very own Cosmos, but it was just that, an embryo. How could the complexities of this small Cosmos reach the complexities of a grown Cosmos?

They couldn't.

While the Energy of the Infused Law was like an army of trained warriors, the Energy of Kyle's universe was like a group of angry toddlers.

The bolts struck down the Energies representing fire, earth, metal, water, lightning, wind, light, and darkness with ease. They couldn't even compare to the Minor Elements in complexity and power. The bolts kept striking, and Kyle's Energy dropped drastically, while the bolts' Energy wasn't even truly affected.

And then, one of the bolts struck a small bit of black Energy.

Or, more precisely...

A small bit of Death.

Kyle had included the Major Law of Death when designing his universe, and while all of the Laws in his universe were weak and frail, the Major Law of Death was not a Law of his universe. It was something superior and more fundamental.

For just a moment, time seemingly stood still.

BOOOOOOOM!

A cone of grey destruction broke out of Kyle's universe, destroying everything in its path. 90% of the bolts were turned into nothingness, and half of the mirror image was destroyed as well.

The small bit of Death had been without a will. It had been pure. So, when the Energy of the bolt had come into contact with the bit of Death, they had combined. The very thing that made the Primordial Chaos so dangerous had happened inside Kyle's existence.

Brutality had been created.

The cone of destruction stretched into the distance, breaking reality into pieces. Yet, reality simply repaired itself until the cone of Brutality lost all of its power.

The remaining bolts kept attacking but hit another bit of Death before long.

BANG!

This explosion was much smaller than the last one, but it still destroyed 20% of Kyle's existence. The remaining bolts were overwhelmed by the other Energies, and the battle ended.

50% of Kyle's existence had been destroyed, but the anchoring line was still attached to the mirror image.

Kyle hadn't seen any of the things that had happened inside his existence. The only things he felt were feelings of overwhelming tiredness and confusion.

Yet, these feelings hadn't been all-encompassing. On one side, he was unable to form a coherent thought, but on the other side, he could think clearly. It was like being almost blind in one eye. When looking through one eye, the entire world would become undiscernible, but when looking through the other eye, everything looked normal.

This feeling of confusion came from his destroyed mirror image. The change in his mirror image had been copied to the Spirits of the Karmic Hammer Team.

Kyle didn't know what this meant.

Was the Karmic Hammer Team dead?

Had the team been crippled?
