Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 993: Discourse

"Wait, what?" Sebastian asked.

"Are you sure you didn't see something else?" Star Genesis asked.

"I'm serious, and I'm pretty sure I know what I've just seen," Kyle answered. "This guy ate a Comprehension Fruit, laid down on a Law Well, turned into fire, and became transparent until it vanished. I know what it looks like when someone changes Dimensions, and it looked exactly like that!"

"How?!" Sebastian asked. "This makes no sense! Elementals don't have Spirits, minds, Beast Cores, or anything similar to that. They're just random assortments of Elemental Energy that work on instinct."

"Well, how are Elementals created?" Kyle asked.

Sebastian furrowed his brows and became quiet.

Star Genesis played with her hair as she fell into thought as well.

When a lot of Elemental Energy of the same attribute gathered in one place, it would undergo a transformation and would solidify into one being. That was how Elementals were born.

"Maybe," Star Genesis said after a while, "it's possible. Can you recount the events in detail?"

Kyle did just that.

"It's not impossible," Star Genesis said.

Sebastian nodded. "It sounds like the Comprehension Fruit channeled the Energy of the Law Well into the Demon. Usually, the Elemental Energy wouldn't break down the Demon's body like this, but that's only true if the Demon still has an active Beast Core. If the Comprehension Fruit somehow put the Beast Core into a state of hibernation, the Demon's body might not be able to resist the Energies."

"Instead of viewing the Energy of the Law Well as an enemy, it might use it as fuel, but since the body and Beast Core are not made to use it as a fuel, they wouldn't be able to keep their states stable. Usually, this would cause a fight of dominance inside the Demon, and both sides would lose Energy until one of the sides gets overwhelmed. Yet, if there's no instinctual resistance, the Demon's existence would act like Neutral Energy. It would get converted into Elemental Energy."

"Did the fire dissipate?" Star Genesis interjected with a question.

"Not really," Kyle answered. "It seems like most of the Fire Energy was contained. It burned fiercely, but the surroundings didn't heat up as much as you would expect."

"Sounds like the Comprehension Fruit acted as a source of attraction," Star Genesis said. "It eroded the resistance of the Demon's will, attracted the Yang-Fire Energy, which converted the Demon into more Yang-Fire Energy, and finally, the Comprehension Fruit stopped the Yang-Fire Energy from dissipating. This creates a local gathering of dense and pure Elemental Energy without any other Elemental Energies interfering in the process."

"This could create an Elemental."

"It's possible," Sebastian said. "In fact, it makes a lot of sense. It's probably not even difficult to replicate that scenario. It's just that I've never even thought about converting beasts into Elementals."

"Would that work on humans?" Kyle asked.

The other two looked at Kyle with furrowed brows. All of them had thought about that possibility, but they had consciously and subconsciously ignored it. After all, if it worked...

Living in Humanity's territories would become even worse.

Sure, they could probably repair their Elemental Dimension, assuming the Overseer didn't intervene, but at what cost?

Luckily...

"No, that's impossible," Sebastian said.

"How so?" Star Genesis asked with a raised brow. "I don't see how that wouldn't work on humans. I've already thought of a Formation Array that can emulate the effects of these fruits."

"Your Formation Array won't work," Sebastian said. "I'm sure about that."

"Explain your statement instead of repeating it," Star Genesis answered with some annoyance.

"The Spirit is unassailable," Sebastian answered, annoyed that he had to spell out this obvious fact. "Nothing you can do can reach someone's Spirit. Sure, if you just so happen to use it on a Unique Spirit Lord or an Ascendant, there's a tiny chance that it might work, but if you use it on someone in any other Realm, it won't."

"Beast Cores are not Spirits, which means they are not governed by the same rules. Their equivalent of a Spirit is in the same spot as their other Aspects of Power, their Beast Core. You can convert a Beast Core, but you can't convert a Spirit. If you try your Formation Array, it will try to turn your body into Elemental Energies, but your Spirit is the blueprint of your existence. Your blueprint does not have a section that says that you're supposed to be made of fire."

"Even in an unconscious state, your mind will access your Spirit, and it will keep trying to restore your existence to that state. Your Energies will revolt and fight the fire, and it will end how it's supposed to, with your body either exhausting the flames or dying to them."

Star Genesis furrowed her brows. "What about Mortals? Their Spirits are not even fully formed yet."

"Might as well use a mountain of wood, then," Sebastian answered with exasperation. "Your Spirit has more Energy than anything else. It is the foundation of your existence. You can destroy your entire body 20 times over, and it won't compare to 10% of the Energy your Spirit is made of. Think about it, if your body has so much Energy, why doesn't every member of the Cult use Death on their body? Because their bodies don't have nearly enough Energy to produce a strong result."

"Our Spirits are filled to the absolute brim with dense Energy, but if we use just a tiny bit, our entire existence is altered permanently. The existence of a Mortal doesn't have enough weight to make an impact. The Spirits of Transcendents and stronger are unassailable. If you want to use your Formation Array, you need Unique Spirit Lords or Ascendants."

"And for what? What would we gain?" Sebastian asked.

Star Genesis took a deep breath through her nose. "I admit, your explanation makes sense. If what you say is true, I would have to agree."

Sebastian was preparing himself for the "but."

"But some of the things you've spoken about are a first for me. I know what a Spirit is, but this is the first time I've heard about its weight. I am also not as familiar with how a mind and a Spirit interact as you, apparently. Are you sure you're correct? Where did you learn these things?" she asked.

Sebastian pushed his right hand forward, his left hand erratically pointing at the thing in his right hand.

His Elemental.

Star Genesis grimaced and looked to the side. A moment later, she sighed in defeat and turned back to Sebastian. "Okay, yes, you're right. I was the stubborn one. I was trying to find reasons to defend my hypothesis instead of looking at the evidence from a neutral standpoint."

Sebastian groaned in a mix of annoyance and frustration. "No, it's fine. I also got a bit too animated. Sorry."

"No, there's nothing to apologize for," Star Genesis answered. "You didn't use any words you shouldn't have. Your explanation was neutral and clear."

"Yeah, but my tone was a bit... you know," Sebastian answered.

"It's fine," Star Genesis said. "Anyway, let's get back to the topic."

"What's the point of this transformation? Why do the fruits act like this, and why do they not even attempt to paralyze humans when they consume one?"

The author's patreon. If he gets more than 1000 per month, he will increase the number of words in the chapter.
