Kai was clearly feeling the pinch, because he’d been spending lavishly lately and his living expenses were already used up. He had paid with his credit card.

"Sweetie, let’s go to the seaside for some romance later. How about that little hill by the sea?"

Kai said, though it clearly pained him.

The place he mentioned was in the suburbs of the capital. Even taking the highway, it was over an hour each way. By the time they got there, the school gates would have long been closed.

His intention was obvious, and being alone together like that, there was no way Kai would behave himself.

Tina felt a little disgusted inside. She spent her birthday with him and got an iPhone 17 too, but the condition was that she had to let him take advantage of her.

Even if she didn’t go with him, that simp Ryan would have given it to her unconditionally.

Comparing the two, Tina suddenly felt like she might have been a bit foolish.

And she had secretly noticed earlier that Kai had paid with a credit card, not a debit card. That meant apart from that BMW, he was actually living beyond his means too.

Kai underestimated how observant these social-savvy women could be.

He thought that once he gave her the phone, the night would naturally go according to his plan and he’d win over this Literature department beauty.

But at that moment, they crossed paths.

Anna spoke first, saying, "Oh, what a coincidence."

Glancing at the phone in Tina’s hand, Anna said with a sarcastic tone:

"Mr. Kai is so generous, but what he gave is the same as what my Ryan gave? Just one phone to wrap up our Sweetie’s birthday gift?"

Tina was already annoyed, and hearing that made her expression even worse.

Kai cursed the troublemaking woman under his breath, then forced himself to say, "None of your business. We’re done."

"Nothing, I just feel sorry for Sweetie. She passed on such a good man, and ended up with someone so stingy."

Anna continued to provoke, "Sweetie, a man can have money, but if he doesn’t spend it on you, it has nothing to do with you."

Before Tina could even react, Anna kissed Ryan on the cheek and said coquettishly, "Honey, I saw a new bag I like. Let’s go see if it’s in stock yet."

"Sure, if you like it, we’ll buy it."

With such a beauty in his arms, Tina’s place in Ryan’s heart was beginning to fade.

The two of them swaggered into the nearby LV store. Kai gritted his teeth and said, "What a pair of jerks. Sweetie, don’t mind them. Let’s go."

As he reached for Tina’s hand again, she dodged it and said softly, "Kai, I want to go check out the bags too."

Kai’s scalp tingled at that. Seeing Tina’s determined expression, he could only plead, "Next time, I’ll get you the newest model next time, okay?"

Tina turned back and looked at him coldly, saying, "Ryan is willing to buy one for her. In your heart, am I less than Anna?"

Kai kept up his bravado and said, "Don’t be fooled. You know Ryan’s a broke loser. At LV, he couldn’t even afford a strap, let alone a bag."

"What happened earlier was all fake. I’ll definitely have my dad look into it and expose their true colors."

"Hmph, if he really buys it for Anna, then you’ll buy it for me, right?"

Tina pressed aggressively.

Kai didn’t want to lose face either, so he forced himself to say, "Fine. If that broke loser can actually buy it for Anna, I’ll buy it for you too."

Even now, they still refused to believe that one meal had cost 400,000.

The two of them followed into the store. The sales assistant was already introducing the bag Anna had her eye on: "Miss, you really have great taste. This is the newest style for the summer."

"It just arrived, and our store only has two. After the discount, it’s only 28,000."

Anna looked all sweet and said, "That’s a bit expensive!"

Ryan grabbed the bag and shoved it over, saying, "How is that expensive? Go wrap it up. Do you have any more expensive, better bags? Like limited edition ones."

The sales assistant was delighted to hear that and said, "Yes, yes, we do. Our store’s crown jewel is a commemorative limited edition bag."

"Bring it over to take a look!"

Ryan said briskly.

Immediately, Kai’s sarcastic voice rang out from the side: "See that? He’s just putting on a show this far."

Anna turned around and said with a mock surprise, "Oh, how loving. You’re here to buy a bag for Sweetie too, right?"

Tina called over a sales assistant and gritted her teeth, saying, "The other one of that style she got, wrap it up for me."

Kai panicked when he heard that. He grabbed her hand directly and said, "Sweetie, that bag doesn’t suit you. No need to match her."

At 28,000, his credit card didn’t even have that much credit left. To be honest, even if it did, he wouldn’t buy Tina such an expensive bag.

With that kind of money, driving his BMW, he could easily charm several girls into bed.

"Aren’t you willing to buy it for me?"

Tina started getting stubborn too.

"That bag is ugly. It doesn’t suit you."

Kai gritted his teeth, glanced over, and picked up another bag, saying, "You’re so beautiful, this one suits your style much better."

The sales assistant immediately showed a look of contempt. Tina saw the price tag on that bag and nearly exploded with anger.

1,200 was okay elsewhere, but at LV, it was practically clearance bin stock, the most outdated, unsellable item.

"That style is so played out even the fakes are everywhere. I don’t want it!"

Tina shook him off directly and said, "I want that new one!!!"

Kai was instantly put in an awkward spot. He gritted his teeth, put the bag back down, and suddenly shoved her, saying:

"That’s enough, Tina. What are you throwing a tantrum for? Take a look in the mirror and see if you even deserve it."

With that, Kai left without looking back.

Tina stumbled from the shove and was completely stunned. Ryan awkwardly steadied her, keeping as much distance as possible, and muttered, "Uh... you okay?"

Sales assistant A said disdainfully, "See? I told you, you can’t judge by appearances. That guy in all those designer clothes is so stingy."

Sales assistant B chimed in, "Exactly. For all we know, those designer clothes are fake."

"So you have to keep your eyes open. Never judge someone by how they look."

"Right. Look at this guy, dressed so plainly but so devoted to his girlfriend."

"He’s even willing to buy limited edition items. If that were my boyfriend, I’d let him have my little sister too."

Tina suddenly broke down crying. With a loud wail, she pushed Ryan away, sat down on a chair, and sobbed with her head in her hands.

Ryan stood there stiffly, not knowing what to do with his hands, clearly uncomfortable with the whole situation. He glanced at Anna with an awkward expression.

Anna immediately grew alert at his awkwardness, but then relaxed when she realized it wasn’t longing, just pure discomfort.

Out of professional duty, the two sales assistants saw Ryan at a loss, so they went over to comfort Tina, since her crying there was also bad for business.

At that moment, the sales assistant brought over the limited edition bag and enthusiastically introduced it: "Sir, this is the one."

"Our store’s crown jewel. After the discount, it’s 58,000."

Ryan, eager to escape the awkward scene, casually pulled out his black card and handed it over.

Anna, being sensible, said, "Ryan, I don’t want one that expensive. I think that one for over ten thousand is fine."

Ryan just wanted to get out of there and said offhandedly, "These two both suit you. That one won’t do."

"Just go ahead and swipe it!"

The sales assistant was overjoyed and immediately brought over the POS machine and started processing the transaction.

"Beep... UnionPay payment received, 86,000!!!"

Seeing Ryan actually pull out his card and pay for it was the last straw for Tina. With a loud wail, she ran out crying.

Ryan shifted uncomfortably, scratching the back of his neck. He felt awkward more than anything, being caught in the middle of this messy situation was the last thing he wanted.

Anna, noticing his discomfort, quickly stepped in and said softly, "Ryan, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for any of this to get so messy."
