Chapter 1981: Riddles

Everyone was following the directions, not knowing the kind of gate they were looking for.

Luna was especially curious what the seal was all about, considering Loki told them that she was the key to opening this place.

After reaching the place they were talking about, Nathan looked around, not finding anything. If it was a burial site, there should be something special about it.

As he looked at Loki, the latter only said, “I’m not giving you the wrong direction. It’s really here. If you can’t even find it, you won’t even be able to face those aliens.”

“Hmm…” Nathan narrowed his eyes.

“Do you notice any change in space? Maybe it’s like a realm or something?” Selena asked.

“Definitely. He’s not lying. There is a fluctuation of the realm, even though it’s extremely faint. He’s not wrong. The first ancient battlefield is in this place.” Evelyn nodded.

“Can you do anything about it?”

Evelyn shook her head. “I have been using my power, but it can’t connect. It’s as if there’s a thin layer of glass that blocks my energy from getting connected.”

“…” Luna examined the surrounding area, wondering what was going on.

“So, anything, Luna?” Sera asked.

“I’m not sure yet.”

“He’s talking in riddles.” Bella pointed at Loki. “So, it may be a puzzle for us to solve. The problem is the kind of puzzle we’re dealing with. Since Luna is the key to solving the puzzle, it should be related to magic circles, right?”

“Formation?” Nathan squinted. “Well, in a lot of cultivation stories or even murim stories, you will find this clan or family that has exceptional talent in wielding a formation. This formation creates an illusion and can kill people. But since this is a seal…”

Luna crossed her arms. “The formation is like a gate, but where is the magic circle?”

Nathan sighed. “I have a few possible theories. The most likely one, but also the most absurd? They’re using all these things to create it.”

“These things?”

Nathan twirled his finger around, meaning everything around them.

Selena raised her eyebrows, realizing what Loki was talking about. “Nine stars, seven rocks, five pebbles, three moons, and one hole. So, that’s how it is.”

“!!!” Luna widened her eyes in shock. She examined the area again. There were indeed nine stars in the area. They weren’t exactly close to each other, but there were indeed that many stars near them.

“The stars are the area of the battlefield? Just like Machina, it’s providing the energy? Then, seven rocks?”

“I think it means seven planets.” Selena raised one finger.

“Which seven planets…” Luna narrowed her eyes. She looked at the nearby planets and rushed to one as though she had found something.

“Luna?” The others followed her carefully.

Luna stopped in front of one planet and pointed her palm toward it. “So that’s how it is. They’re using planets to maintain their formation… Extract! Show yourself!”

Luna channeled her power. Suddenly, the planet was releasing blue energy into the surroundings. However, this blue energy was very controlled, which gradually took the shape of magic circles surrounding the entire planet.

This was the skeleton of the formation that hid within the planet.

“Is this real?” Sera gasped. She had seen Luna using her formation, but this was the first time she saw a formation on a planet.

“This is not the only one. There are six more.” Luna narrowed her eyes. “Looking at the magic circle… Well, I can’t exactly decipher everything, but it’s clear that this is the foundation of the formation that creates the realm to hide this battlefield.”

“Most likely, those people from that annoying organization had found out about this formation, but they haven’t been able to figure it out yet.” Selena nodded in understanding.

“In that case, should we open it?”

Luna nodded. “I will try to open it. I will look around and search for the other six planets.”

“Noelle, Evelyn!”

“On it!” Noelle and Evelyn escorted Luna, since Evelyn could use her teleportation to reduce the time required for travel.

Nathan then continued, “In that case, five pebbles? I think it means…”

“Yeah. It should be asteroids, but I believe they should be asteroids big enough like a small planet or something.” Nathan nodded.

“Should we find those?” Sera smiled, getting excited about this puzzle.

“Selena, Sera, Flora, Alavenya, Bella. You guys spread around and find any asteroids big enough to become a moon or something.”

“Got it.” The five of them immediately flew around to find the pebbles.

“Three moons.” Nathan smiled.

“Are we going to find the biggest moons around here? But if we’re talking about moons, it means objects that are orbiting a planet, right? Doesn’t that mean Luna can just check those moons alongside the planets?”

“No. A moon absorbs the light from the sun so that it can shine.” Nathan shook his head.

“Ah!” Vivian raised one finger. “We need to find the brightest moons this time. They’re the ones absorbing the energy from the nine stars. Three stars for one moon?”

“Exactly. It’s easier to track since we just need to follow the suns’ positions. It should be possible, right?” Nathan smiled at Vivian.

“It is possible.” Vivian confirmed.

“In that case, you and Iris will be in charge of finding the three moons. I and Machina will stay here to figure out about the one hole.”

“Sure.”

With both of them left, Nathan looked at his familiars. “One hole.”

“I’m not saying anything.” Garuda shook his head. “I think this is going to be quite a trial for Luna. To be able to understand the new concept of formation will allow her to gain another insight that will push her formation to a whole new level. Besides, I’m not involved in the sealing process.”

Nathan nodded in understanding. “Don’t worry. I know about that, so what about this one hole? It’s like a keyhole, maybe? There is only one place?”

Machina was calculating everything from the beginning. “Master, I speculate that the one hole means the gate. There is only one place to enter, so we might not be able to find it unless we decipher the rest.”

Nathan chuckled. “Well, we’re just going to make it easy. It should be the gate. And if it’s the gate, it’s either on the side or in the center.”
