Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 2717 - 2779: Out of Danger
Finding the killer can wait; ensuring Su Mengxin’s safety comes first. When Li Yifei arrived at the hospital, he quickly met with the staff Mengxin brought along this time. Two were already dead on the scene, and another was still undergoing emergency treatment. Apart from the driver, another middle-level executive from the company was involved, a position not considered low. With such a tragedy, anyone would be heartbroken, but now is not the time for grief. Li Yifei offered brief words of comfort to the employees and proceeded under their guidance to the ICU waiting area.
"Sir, you cannot enter. This area strictly prohibits outsiders!" a doctor said, blocking him. Li Yifei knew ICU entry was restricted, but if he couldn’t save Su Mengxin himself, no one else could either. Hence, he replied, "Doctor, I understand, I am also a doctor. Let’s transfer the patient to a general ward, and I’ll handle the next steps of the treatment."
The doctor clearly regarded Li Yifei as if hearing a joke, and after removing his mask, he said, "Sir, you’re joking, right? Rest assured, the patient is already out of danger. We are monitoring, and if any issues arise, she will receive immediate rescue. You can have peace of mind."
"No, no, I’m not joking. How about you call your dean over? I’ll speak with him. If anything happens to the patient, I’ll take full responsibility!" Li Yifei insisted.
Of course, the other party was skeptical. Li Yifei knew the rules and regulations — breaking in wouldn’t be right — but he was anxious to see Su Mengxin. Turning to others, he said, "If any of you know anyone, quickly contact them, let me in first!"
"Alright, alright!" Some local branch company staff, who had connections, swiftly reached out. Yet, not knowing how much time this process would take, Li Yifei decided to pull the two doctors aside and said, "Watch this, I practice Traditional Chinese Medicine, different from you, this is True Qi!"
Li Yifei’s hands emitted a trace of True Qi, the two doctors widened their eyes instantly. Though they studied and practiced medicine for years, they’d never encountered such a scene. The man before them flicked his finger and conjured a stream of True Qi — the sight was shocking.
"You... this is..." The two doctors were in disbelief.
"So, let me rescue her first. If I damage any equipment, I’ll compensate. If the treatment is delayed, I’ll accept responsibility. Please trust Traditional Chinese Medicine!" Li Yifei pleaded.
It was only then the two doctors agreed to let Li Yifei into the room, but they stayed by the door, notifying hospital management.
Li Yifei thanked them and swiftly entered. One doctor had intended to remind him to wear sterile clothes and disinfect, but Li Yifei had already stepped in before they could utter a word.
"Will this work?" one doctor asked. The other, with a mask, rolled his eyes and said, "I’ve never seen it before, perhaps it works? The patient is only temporarily out of danger, with blood clots in the head, still unconscious, neck and lumbar solidified, but the fracture hasn’t been healed, it’s surely tricky!"
"Oh, true!"
Upon entering the ward, Li Yifei closed the door softly and saw Su Mengxin, she was hooked to multiple instruments, tubes inserted into her oral and nasal cavities, bandages around her head, a respirator mask over her mouth, IV drips, and dried blood on her face. Li Yifei had never seen her in such a state, but beauty or ugliness didn’t matter now.
Su Mengxin had never suffered like this before, even during the rainforest chase before retiring, it wasn’t this severe. She had just escaped death; if not for a pinch of luck, she might be eternally separated from Li Yifei and others.
Li Yifei’s teeth subtly trembled out of agitation. This was Su Mengxin, his lover, the mother of his child. She had walked a path so close to death, and Li Yifei’s feelings of heartache, anger, and others were imaginable.
Though he only paused for a moment, injuries can be borne and pain inevitable, he needed to relieve his lover’s suffering, so with no hesitation, he hurriedly began treatment.
Li Yifei quickly approached, held Su Mengxin’s hand, calling softly. Naturally, she didn’t respond, but Li Yifei promptly commenced treatment, channeling True Qi into her body. Two minutes later, he made a preliminary diagnosis; indeed the situation was dire — waiting for natural recovery could lead to paralysis.
"Mengxin, I won’t let you go paralyzed, don’t worry, you’ll heal soon!" Li Yifei assured, concentrating on treatment, transmitting True Qi generously into her body. Even with his skills, the bruises and injuries wouldn’t heal instantly. True Qi nourishes, though recovery still takes time, but this process exceeds natural healing by dozens or hundreds of times. In Li Yifei’s view, perhaps it only requires two or three days before recovering significantly.
The initial step was to treat her injured neck and lumbar spine, crucial for human motion. If either was impaired, mobility sharply declined, particularly the latter raises the risk of paralysis.
The treatment process lasted half an hour, considering Li Yifei’s previous miracles and the employees’ halted panic but driven enthusiasm from seeing the Li family’s presence. Hence, within those thirty minutes, no doctors disturbed Li Yifei. However, several leaders had gathered outside — understanding his identity as the Ning Province wealthiest, they were cautious not to offend — sealing off the area temporarily, awaiting updates. The doctors who previously participated in rescuing Su Mengxin were astounded; they understood her critical condition yet wondered if Li Yifei could swiftly heal her?
After repairing the spine and lumbar, Li Yifei withdrew True Qi, allowing it to circulate within his body once over, easing fatigue, briefly meditating. Given the significance of these regions, despite not frequently performing such tasks, he was extra cautious, slowing down and tiring slightly, but with satisfactory results. Next was to set Su Mengxin’s fractures — simpler, enabling seamless bone settings, and eliminating future concerns at fracture sites.
Li Yifei even spared a thought pondering this method — counted as Traditional Chinese Medicine? Seems some medical texts documented such mystical healing ways, so he wasn’t wrong earlier.
Bone-setting took just twenty minutes; Li Yifei also tidied Su Mengxin’s internal meridians and blood clots, completing the first treatment session.
"Sweetheart, take a rest. I’ll go solve some problems,be right back!" Li Yifei spoke, kissing her forehead, stood up, and stepped outside. Many had gathered — police, staff, hospital representatives. Seeing the door open, Li Yifei stepping out, they were all taken aback.
"The patient is stable now, who among the police is in charge?" Li Yifei asked, facing the officers.
One stepped forward and said, "I’m from the Sub-bureau, this case is temporarily under our charge."
Li Yifei glanced at him, noting only a Level-Three Police Inspector badge on his shoulder, equivalent to a departmental member. Li Yifei frowned, asking, "You’re in charge? It’s now been over three hours since the incident; tell me, what’s the situation?"
"Uh, let me interrupt, Mr. Li, the patient inside... is she really okay?" the hospital leader couldn’t hold back and stepped forward to ask.
"Yes!" Li Yifei nodded. The other struggled to believe, asking, "I mean, is she out of danger?"
"The lumbar and neck injuries are mostly healed; fractures are set. Other bruises, nothing serious. However, she’s still not awake, so I’ll let her rest a bit longer," Li Yifei explained.
"Uh?" The hospital personnel aware of the condition showed astonishment, unprecedented indeed. They had many questions for Li Yifei — how did he achieve this? Nonetheless, Li Yifei didn’t give them a chance, turning to the Level-Three Police Inspector, asking, "Has the perpetrator been caught? Cause investigated?"
"Sir, please mind your attitude. Our investigation requires time, moreover, the traffic police feedback indicated it’s merely a normal traffic accident. Except the perpetrator ran away, so..."
Li Yifei took two steps forward, staring fiercely at him, questioning, "You say it’s just a simple traffic accident?"
"It’s the traffic police feedback; I haven’t visited the scene yet, I’m unaware!" The officer felt his body plunged into a chill, clenched his fists to muster courage, awkwardly stating, "I’ll first handle this investigation here!"
"With an attitude like this, best you leave now—find someone who can speak properly!" Li Yifei’s gaze turned cold. Su Mengxin’s assault, in the minor is a Li family matter, in the major, relates to Elder Su’s granddaughter—an event with political implications, yet this Level-Three Police Inspector’s tone, Li Yifei refrained from kicking him out.
"You!" The officer, provoked, clenched his fist and retorted, "How can you speak like this? I’m here to investigate..."
"Bang!" Before finishing, the officer was sent flying, Li Yifei stared sternly at the remaining wide-eyed police and hospital personnel, coldly stating, "My wife was attempted murder, only now out of danger. What I need is the police investigation result, even if it concludes nothing—still investigate rather than probing my wife. I don’t care who you are; I want Anby City’s response now. If you don’t give me an explanation, I’ll give you one!"
If you don’t give me an explanation, I’ll give you one! As soon as these words emerged, everyone was astonished, including those officers. The captain was kicked flying and probably fainted, yet the man before them remained arrogant... What the hell is happening?
