Chapter 2395: Chapter 2396: Recovery

After bidding farewell to Wang Hao, Lin Chen’s mind was still occupied with the terrifying sword skill fluctuation he had just experienced.

As he walked, his hands continued to gesture unconsciously, as if he was recalling and pondering the scenes from earlier.

"If I can learn this move in the next few days, then when the time comes to help Pan Yan, it will at least provide some additional assurance!"

Lin Chen clenched his fist, thinking this way.

The combat power of this sword skill was extremely formidable, and for Lin Chen, the improvement in strength was not insignificant at all.

However, it was precisely because of the power of this sword skill that it was exceptionally difficult to control, and entering its threshold was incredibly challenging.

Fortunately, as Wang Hao mentioned, Lin Chen’s body was now recovering at an extremely fast rate, which gave him more time to slowly experiment.

...

This wasn’t something that could be achieved overnight, so although Lin Chen was eager to master it quickly, he didn’t immediately seek a place to practice but instead walked slowly towards Chen Lin’s residence.

Nearly half a day had passed now, and in an afternoon, Lin Chen had stayed in the library, now wondering if Chen Jie had gotten any better.

The sunset hung low, and Lin Chen moved toward Chen Lin’s residence under its dim glow.

Before he even reached the mountaintop where Chen Lin resided, a hearty laugh had already echoed out.

The voice was very familiar, and Lin Chen didn’t need much thought to know that the one laughing was indeed Chen Lin.

People often feel revived by good news. Now, Chen Lin’s face was full of rosy cheer, his slightly aged face no longer bore the previous gloom, but was filled with joyful smiles.

He stroked his long beard, looking with satisfaction at Chen Jie who was sitting opposite him.

"Who would have thought that you actually found fortune within misfortune, and your strength suddenly leapt two levels."

Chen Lin nodded slightly as he observed Chen Jie, taking in her condition. He was a healer by nature, and although he wasn’t as skilled as Liu Qinghan, he could still discern some aspects of Chen Jie’s physical condition.

Since awakening in the afternoon, Chen Jie’s condition had been very good, and she hadn’t fallen back into slumber. Although she was still a bit confused about some things, with the explanations from Chen Lin and others, she came to understand what had transpired during her unconsciousness.

"It’s not stable yet, though. These powers still need time to settle."

Chen Jie said so.

Since awakening, her Dantian felt like a wellspring, bubbling sweetly upwards, causing her Spiritual Energy to surge. From originally being at the Spirit Pill stage five, she had now broken through to stage seven. This rapid increase, despite her comatose state, was astonishing.

However, this leap in strength was more of an instinctive reaction from Chen’s body. This instinct, although it significantly boosted her strength post-crisis, hasn’t refined the Spiritual Energy, so Chen Jie needs to take time in the upcoming days to properly purify it.

Otherwise, although there would be no substantial harm to her body, if left unchecked, her cultivation would become buoyant and her foundation unstable.

Lin Chen had barely reached the mountaintop before he overheard Chen Jie’s remarks. Upon hearing them, he visibly relaxed, took a deep breath, and approached the stone table slowly.

"You’re here."

Chen Jie was sitting somewhere that allowed her to see Lin Chen coming up the mountain from below. She stood up, a gentle smile lifting her brow, and as she looked at Lin Chen now, there was no longer any sense of distance in her eyes; rather, it was filled with a familiar warmth.

"Finally recovered?"

Lin Chen asked as he approached Chen Jie.

The distance between them wasn’t far, and even though Lin Chen spoke softly, Chen Jie could understand his words clearly.

"Yes, thanks to their care, the Sect Master’s treatment, and... the herbs you found..."

Chen Jie whispered, lightly biting her lips, gazing at Lin Chen with gratitude.

Even though Lin Chen remained silent, Chen Jie knew the hardships of finding the Spirit Herb. This herb, though not something precious, was rare enough, and this kindness, Chen Jie naturally couldn’t forget.

"It’s nothing, really. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have ended up like that."

Lin Chen touched his nose, saying that.

Lin Chen felt somewhat guilty towards Chen Jie, stemming from the damage caused last time. If it weren’t for her concern about Lin Chen and following him, she wouldn’t have ended up in that state.

Luckily, now Chen Jie had fully recovered from her injuries.

"We’re all family, so there’s no need to say such things."

At this moment, Chen Lin spoke, stroking his beard with a slightly reproachful tone, his eyes shifting between Lin Chen and Chen Jie, seemingly wanting to change the topic.

"That’s true."

Chen Jie chuckled, then looked over at the distant sunset, feeling an air of relief and leisure, and softly said, "After all, it’s all already in the past, so counting them over doesn’t matter much."

Since both father and daughter said so, Lin Chen felt a bit embarrassed. He didn’t continue the topic deeply but instead sat down on the stone bench beside Chen Lin.

"You left so quickly earlier, you still don’t know what the Sect Master wanted you to do?"

Chen Lin asked Lin Chen, curious.

Upon hearing this, Lin Chen did not hesitate to recount what had happened in the main hall earlier to Chen Lin in detail.

Fortunately, Meng Shan wasn’t there at the moment, or else he would have reacted with great worry.

After listening to Lin Chen’s account, although Chen Lin and Chen Jie were a bit worried, their concerns obviously went beyond just that.

"How confident are you?" Chen Jie asked.

Lin Chen shook his head and then said, "I don’t know. Still have to wait for a few days, and what will actually happen is uncertain before it occurs."

Lin Chen’s words were truthful, as he still didn’t know what he would face in a few days, and naturally couldn’t make any definitive conclusions now.

"It does trouble you, but it’s unavoidable. If the taboo on the holy item isn’t lifted, it’d be difficult to suppress Lu Kang when he attacks."

Chen Lin sighed softly. As members of the Green Ripple Sect, they understood the principle of being unable to preserve oneself if the sect falls, knowing that the Demonic Sect disciples wouldn’t let them go if their sect were gone.

So now that Lin Chen had to lift the restriction with Pan Yan, although Chen Lin was worried, he didn’t stop them.
