Chapter 2396: Chapter 2397: Comprehension

"I’ll do my best."

Lin Chen straightened up and said solemnly.

"Don’t feel too pressured. If you truly can’t avoid this calamity, then it is simply fate."

Chen Lin saw that his words seemed to have given Lin Chen a huge amount of pressure and hastily added another sentence.

"I understand."

As he looked at Chen Lin, Lin Chen understood Chen Lin’s intent. Although he verbally acknowledged it, Lin Chen’s hand subtly clenched slightly, a trace of determination surged on his face. No matter what difficulties lay ahead, he was determined to lift the restriction in between.

After Lin Chen finished speaking, Chen Lin visibly relaxed. Despite being a Sect Elder, he didn’t want to put too much pressure on Lin Chen. After all, supporting the Green Ripple Sect’s affairs wasn’t solely his responsibility.

"Now that Chen Jie is alright, I should prepare myself."

Lin Chen intertwined his fingers, took a deep breath, and stretched his muscles and bones. The movement of those bones caused crackling sounds to begin emanating from his body.

"Indeed, early preparation helps in having a response."

Chen Lin nodded and did not stop him. He looked at Lin Chen with a serious expression, and from those wind-beaten eyes, Lin Chen could see the concern hidden within them.

"Be careful."

Chen Jie also pursed her lips and said. She couldn’t prevent such matters, and even if she did due to worry, it wouldn’t alter Lin Chen’s purpose at all.

"I will, don’t worry. Please take care of Xiao Bai these days."

Lin Chen turned around, finally relieved of the heavy burden in his heart. With Chen Jie’s body having improved, there was naturally no reason for him to stay.

"Now, Lin Chen increasingly views the Green Ripple Sect as his home. I don’t know if this is good or bad."

Chen Lin looked at Lin Chen’s back and softly whispered to Chen Jie beside him.

Over this period, Chen Lin had witnessed Lin Chen’s changes. He still remembered the sense of alienation when Lin Chen first arrived. Although Lin Chen initially showed inexplicable interest in the Green Ripple Sect and other matters, that feeling of distance was evident to Chen Lin.

Now, within just a few months, Lin Chen had undergone such a profound transformation. Initially, if you asked Lin Chen to undertake such tasks, he would likely refuse more than comply. But now, it was different.

"I feel that compared to the sect, he cares more about us..."

After Chen Lin spoke, Chen Jie added. In their interactions during this period, she felt that Lin Chen was straightforward; he reciprocated kindness with kindness, simply put.

"Perhaps, hopefully, it’s not a bad thing that he came to the Green Ripple Sect."

Chen Lin sighed softly and slightly shook his head. Since arriving, Lin Chen has been embroiled in countless incidents. Several times, he was in life-threatening danger. If not for his remarkable luck and strength, which wasn’t weak, he might have perished within the Green Ripple Sect long ago.

...

Lin Chen was now seated in the cave where Wang Hao had previously led him. At this moment, he was unaware of Chen Lin and Chen Jie’s whispering. His attention was entirely focused on the various sword scars, which ranged from shallow to deep.

The cave grew some weeds, making the already narrow interior even darker.

This wasn’t much of an issue for Lin Chen, whose vision was extraordinary. With a mere glance, he could take in all those sword scars.

This was where Wang Hao spent unknown lengths of time, making the place where Lin Chen sat feel slightly eroded.

The sword marks were simple and mostly created by a single thrust—a straightforward technique. Yet, within these simple techniques lay the foundation of Wang Hao’s subsequent sword skills.

Now, Lin Chen sought to discern some clues from here. He sat and observed these scars, some fierce, others hiding their edge, and his mind rapidly processed.

He was analyzing these sword marks, simulating the techniques Wang Hao previously used in his mind.

The phantasmal figures danced with wooden branches.

Although the branches were thin, they contained extremely powerful Sword Intent. This Sword Intent emerged vividly in Lin Chen’s mind, causing a slight sheen of sweat to appear on his forehead.

Despite being a mere imagination, the Sword Intent was so potent it seemed to surge forth from the scars, flooding Lin Chen’s mind, giving it a life-force of its own.

Such a potent Sword Intent naturally made Lin Chen somewhat overwhelmed.

He swiftly took a cross-legged posture, and within less than a breath, he adopted a meditative stance.

His consciousness sank, and within his mind materialized a figure likewise wielding thin branches. However, unlike before, the phantasmal body now had a face, undoubtedly Lin Chen’s.

His illusory form moved with the Sword Intent from Wang Hao, and this mental simulation was enormously taxing. Fortunately, Lin Chen’s consciousness wasn’t weak; at least, it was stronger compared to others of the same rank.

Perhaps it was due to the previous occurrences in the spiritual realm, where foreign entities tried to seize Lin Chen’s body, enhancing his consciousness’s strength.

Under such circumstances, Lin Chen had the capacity to multitask.

In the cave devoid of sun or moon, heavy with vegetation, the light couldn’t penetrate the narrow darkness within, making the environment pitch-black and silent.

Only Lin Chen’s right hand, originally rested on his knee, occasionally moved, raising above his head and then crashing down. As it descended, a faint thread of Spiritual Energy surged from his sword fingers. After the surge, it flowed into a nearby solid rock.

With a booming sound, the rock split open with a thin fissure, several inches long but frightfully deep, cutting through the hard rock to the outside.

With the opened narrow slit in the dark cave, a silvery light from the outside shone through, falling on Lin Chen’s side profile.

Under this dim light, one could see Lin Chen’s serious expression, his brows tight or relaxed, seemingly comprehending aspects of sword techniques.
