Chapter 86: Caught by the Scent
Caught by the Scent
"Lane, what happened?"
Victor walked over to her.
His voice was calm.
There was no anger in it yet. He simply wanted to know what had happened.
"Young Master!"
Lane called out lightly.
The cold expression she had worn moments ago disappeared almost instantly.
As soon as she saw Victor, her face relaxed.
The frost in her eyes melted away.
Her gaze softened as she looked at him.
She stepped closer and began explaining what had happened.
"His name is Preston Willow. He approached me in the market and started saying disgusting things."
Lane’s expression tightened.
"He kept telling me that I was beautiful. Then he said he wanted me."
She paused for a moment.
"I told him to leave me alone, but he wouldn’t stop."
Her voice carried clear disgust.
"So I told him directly that I wasn’t interested."
Lane glanced toward the unconscious man lying nearby.
"That should have been enough. But he still wouldn’t leave."
Her fingers curled slightly.
"Then he tried to grab me."
Victor’s expression remained calm, but his eyes slowly became colder.
"He grabbed at me, Young Master," Lane continued. "He touched me and started saying that he would make me his concubine."
Her lips curled with contempt.
"So I taught him a lesson."
Victor’s gaze shifted toward Preston.
The young man was still lying on the ground.
His clothes were covered in dust, and his face had lost all of its earlier arrogance.
Victor’s eyes narrowed.
"He touched you?"
His voice was quiet.
Too quiet.
Lane immediately shook her head.
"Tried to, Young Master."
A small smile appeared on her lips.
"But I made sure he couldn’t."
Victor stared at her for a moment.
Then he nodded.
"Good girl."
His voice softened.
"You did the right thing."
Lane’s expression brightened.
She clearly hadn’t expected anything else from him, but hearing those words still made her happy.
Victor looked back at Preston.
’It’s a really similar cliché situation.’
He couldn’t help thinking about it.
A young master from a supposedly powerful family.
A woman minding her own business.
Then some idiot decided that having a strong background meant he could do whatever he wanted.
Victor almost sighed.
’And now he’s lying on the ground.’
It was almost too predictable.
Beside him, Lane suddenly snorted.
"He said he was the young master of a strong clan."
She folded her arms.
"I didn’t expect him to be so weak."
Her eyes moved toward Preston with undisguised disdain.
"He can’t even take ten percent of my strength."
Skyla nodded.
"He really was very rude."
She looked toward Victor.
"He also tried to touch me."
Victor turned toward her.
"You too?"
Skyla nodded.
"Yes."
Her expression became slightly annoyed as she remembered what had happened.
"I used my wind technique to avoid him."
She brushed a strand of hair away from her face.
"He couldn’t even get close."
Then she looked at Preston again.
"He’s a pervert."
Victor’s expression darkened.
For a brief moment, the casual atmosphere around him disappeared.
His golden eyes settled on Preston.
There was no warmth in them now.
Only coldness.
Preston had been arrogant because of his family name.
He had believed that everyone else would simply endure his behavior.
Unfortunately for him, he had picked the wrong people.
Victor shook his head slightly.
He didn’t even feel like wasting more time on the matter.
"Forget about that clown."
His tone returned to normal.
He looked at the girls.
"Have you all finished shopping?"
The sudden change in subject caught Sasha, Ruby, and Violet completely off guard.
Lane blinked.
Then she smiled.
"Yes, Young Master!"
She nodded happily.
Victor gave a small nod.
"Well, let’s go."
And just like that, he turned around.
There was no dramatic declaration.
No threat toward the Willow Family.
No attempt to interrogate Preston.
Victor simply walked away as though nothing particularly important had happened.
Lane followed immediately.
Skyla walked beside them.
The two girls soon began chatting with Victor about their shopping.
Their voices gradually faded into the crowd as they headed toward the exit.
Behind them, Sasha, Ruby, and Violet remained frozen for a few seconds.
They exchanged looks.
None of them knew what to say.
They already knew that Victor, Skyla, and Lane were extraordinary.
But seeing it firsthand was completely different.
Especially Lane.
She had barely moved.
One casual wave of her hand had sent Preston flying.
And now she was walking away happily, talking with Victor about shopping as though she had merely brushed away an annoying insect.
Sasha stared after them.
Ruby’s eyes were still wide.
Violet was equally speechless.
The people surrounding them were no different.
The entire shop had fallen into an awkward silence.
Everyone knew who Preston Willow was.
He was the young master of the Willow Family.
That name alone carried considerable weight.
Yet no one from Victor’s group seemed concerned about what they had done.
They had beaten down the Willow Family’s young master.
And then they simply left.
As if it wasn’t worth another thought.
The crowd watched Victor and the girls disappear through the entrance.
For a while, nobody spoke.
Only Preston’s groan from the ground broke the silence.
And even then, no one dared laugh.
The Willow Family might be powerful.
But after what had just happened, everyone present understood one thing.
The people who had walked out of the shop were clearly not ordinary.
---
After coming out of the crowd, Victor and the girls once again started wandering in the city market.
Violet, Ruby, and Sasha were a little worried due to the last incident with Preston.
They were concerned that the Willow Family’s people might come out for revenge.
"Little Brother, maybe we should go somewhere else," Violet suggested.
She was nervous.
Victor smiled reassuringly.
"Everything will be fine."
"But the Willow Family is powerful," Violet insisted.
"Let them come," Victor said calmly.
His confidence was unwavering.
Violet had no other choice but to trust him.
"Hmm! Where were you earlier? You were missing for hours," Skyla asked innocently.
Her green eyes were curious.
Victor stiffened slightly.
So did Violet.
Both exchanged a glance.
A guilty glance.
But Victor quickly smiled and said, "I just went to wander around the market a bit."
His voice was casual.
Too casual.
Skyla looked at him, her green eyes curious.
"Oh? Really?"
She was not convinced.
But suddenly she asked, "Young Master, you smell like Big Sister Violet’s perfume."
Skyla, who was holding his arm, suddenly spoke out.
Her nose was sharp.
She sniffed him again.
Lane also moved closer to Victor to check after hearing Skyla’s words.
She sniffed him closely.
Her expression shifted.
Her eyes narrowed.
"Ahhh!!!"
Suddenly, Victor felt a sharp pain in his waist.
It was pinched by Lane.
"Pervert!" Lane snorted coldly.
Her voice was filled with accusation.
She was not as innocent as Skyla.
She immediately guessed some clues after smelling the strong fragrance of Violet’s perfume on his body.
"Lane! It’s not what you think—" Victor started.
"Then what is it, Young Master?" Lane asked, her eyes narrowing.
"We just... talked," Victor said weakly.
"Talked? For two hours? In a changing room?" Lane raised an eyebrow.
Victor opened his mouth to reply.
But no words came out.
Skyla looked confused.
She didn’t understand.
"What’s going on? Why is everyone so strange?"
Lane sighed dramatically.
"Skyla, our Young Master has been... busy."
"Busy doing what?" Skyla asked innocently.
"Busy being a pervert," Lane said, giving Victor a pointed look.
Victor rubbed his sore waist.
"I wasn’t being a pervert! We were just... getting to know each other."
Lane raised an eyebrow.
"Getting to know each other? Is that what they call it these days?"
