Chapter 490 - This Mortal World, Defiled Once More

  • Next Chapter

In the Western Desert, the old monk continued to hold out under the encirclement. As time passed, the opponents grew weaker and weaker, and the old monk seemed to be gaining the upper hand.

In truth, Yun Ao’s injuries had never fully healed, and the curse had destroyed his physical body. Over the past ten years, he had trapped many people within the Dragon Seal to aid his recovery, yet he was still far from returning to his peak. As of now, he could only trap the old monk for fifteen minutes. As long as things went smoothly on Yun Tu’s end, even half that time would be plenty.

Just then, an awe-inspiring sword intent soared into the sky, tearing open the Gold List. Everyone was mesmerized, admiration etched deep into their hearts.

With a hint of longing, Yun Ao shouted down below, “What a legend! Yun Tu, this is a gift from heaven! That old blind man is preoccupied. It’s now or never!”

Although he had never met Yun Jiansheng, Yun Ao had witnessed the other’s sword intent a thousand years ago, when the divine corpse fell.

Yun Ao turned to the old monk. “Bald Donkey, even heaven is on our side. With just you alone, how can you fight us? Take my advice. Leave now, and you might live.”

The old monk was silent for a moment before chanting, “Amitabha.”

Among the countless vajras in the sky, one suddenly stepped forward. It grabbed Hui Ren, who had returned to the Tianlong Temple from within the Gold List, and sent him far away.

Then, the countless vajras moved their six arms, striking down upon Yun Ao and his group.

Within the God-Slaying Formation, the sealed head coldly swept its gaze over Yun Tu, who knelt below, then looked at the several chains of order that bound it tightly. Its voice was majestic and overbearing, carrying a hint of contempt for all living beings. “Who are you?”

Yun Tu did not even dare to raise his head. His eyes were filled with fervor and excitement. “I’m Yun Tu, your most faithful believer!”

“I like you!”

Wave after wave of red divine power began to radiate outward, and even the entire God-Slaying Formation trembled along with it. Several chains of order tightened, creaking with strain.

In the blink of an eye, the divine power spread to where Yun Tu was. Bathed in divine power, his fervor grew even more intense. The third eye on his brow slowly opened, absorbing all that divine power. At the same time, the bulges on his back writhed. Soon, four thick, ashen-gray arms burst through, hanging down like blood crystals.

“I welcome your return with utmost respect, O’ almighty god!”

The head slowly asked, “Is he still here?”

He was referring to Yun Jiansheng.

Yun Tu was stunned for a moment, then respectfully said, “My god, a thousand years have passed. That man is already at the end of his rope. Even if he hasn’t died, he won’t live much longer. Moreover, he happens to be away right now. This is your chance to break free!”

To the head, whether it broke free or not made little difference, because Yun Jiansheng was the fundamental issue. Even when it was still at its peak, it was still no match for a wounded Yun Jiansheng, who ended up sealing it.

Now, after being eroded by the God-Slaying Formation for a thousand years, it was far weaker than it had been back then. It understood very well just how terrifying Yun Jiansheng truly was, especially when he was on the verge of death. After all, he had nothing to lose.

Thinking of this, it made its decision. “Where is the sacrifice?”

“Right outside!”

The head looked outward. Its third eye turned blood-red, and a surge of divine power ten times stronger than before spread out, extending outward.

Overbearing and ruthless, it quickly spread beyond the God-Slaying Formation and reached outside. The misty back mountain turned withered and yellow as far as the eye could see, filled with an air of desolation.

“My god, be with me!”

The fanatical followers rushed toward the oncoming divine power. With just a light sweep of that power, all of them turned into clouds of blood mist, appearing even more eerie and terrifying.

The blood mist twisted and transformed into an ancient rune over ten zhang in diameter. At the same time, the head slowly spoke in the divine language. At first, the sound was extremely faint, but later, it nearly resounded throughout heaven and earth. Outside, that ancient red rune seemed to resonate with the divine language, slowly beginning to rotate.

The old monk chanted softly, “Amitabha.”

The three thousand vajras merged into one, forming a towering vajra ten thousand zhang tall. Majesty and fury gleamed in its eyes as it swung its vajra staff down with tremendous force.

Yun Ao did nothing to stop it. He understood very well that the moment this rune appeared, no one could stop what was about to happen. Without the slightest reverence, he cast a contemptuous glance at the rune. Sure enough, not even a full-powered strike from an Ascension realm cultivator could graze it in the slightest. Instead, the divine power surged back and repelled the vajra.

The old monk turned pale, and the vajra projection quickly dissipated.

Like rolling thunder, the head’s final words seemed to contain infinite might, spreading across the five domains in nearly an instant. The red rune wavered slightly, absorbing all the divine power into itself. It spun for a moment, then expanded to ten thousand zhang in diameter and rose into the sky. As a beam of red light fell, it tore through space and plunged into an unknown location.

The old monk sighed dejectedly. Calamity is approaching!

At the Central Dao Palace, everyone else aside from Chongming was dumbfounded. Just then, the head’s divine language reached everyone’s ears, shaking them violently.

Their hearts skipped a beat. “What was that?”

A sense of foreboding arose in their hearts.

Meanwhile, Chongming burst with a five-colored divine light. His pupils split in two as he fixed his gaze on the west, the sorrow in his eyes turning into fury. “Damn bastard!”

Not far away, the pale Xiao Yang stared at the sky above, muttering to himself, “W-what is that?”

Under the operation of the Great Dao’s rules, the crack on the Gold List slowly began to mend itself. Before it could even close halfway, something the color of ashen gray pried itself out of the rift like a pillar of heaven. The closing of the rift came to an abrupt halt.

Fatty swallowed hard. “It looks like a finger!”

Everyone was stunned for a moment, then turned ashen upon realizing what it was. A finger? How could there possibly be such a huge finger in this world?!

More and more fingers squeezed through, tearing the Gold List open even wider with a slight exertion of force. Then, an eye over a thousand zhang long appeared within the crack. It was cold, heartless, and overbearing. In an instant, endless red divine power poured down from the sky veil, even more ominous than those red lightning bolts.

Everyone soon discovered that the red divine power was descending upon the Central Continent.

“Go!”

“Hurry and go!”

“Why is that thing so sinister?!”

Immediately, all of them fled far into the distance.

As Fatty flew, he suddenly noticed something wrong. Someone is missing... No! A rooster is missing!

“Where’s Master Rooster? Damn it! He didn’t stay behind, did he?!”

***

Unfortunately, Fatty's fears proved true. Chongming indeed had not left. His gaze, overflowing with hatred, never left the widening rift either. After a thousand years, he had finally encountered the divine clan bastard again!

Amid the interweaving of endless crimson lightning, six pillar-like arms reached through, ripping both the sky veil and the Gold List to shreds. Beyond the domains lay a dark, silent void, within which stood a giant.

Slowly descending amid the rumbling crimson lightning, it stood over ten thousand zhang tall, with three eyes and six arms. Boundless divine power wove around it, exuding dominance and contempt for all living beings. The red lightning that crackled around it could not even budge its form in the slightest.

After a moment, the giant landed on the ground. As if unable to bear its immense power, the land shook violently as countless wide, bottomless cracks split open and stretched endlessly into the distance.

Yet as if oblivious, the giant swept around its gaze, saying slowly in an overbearing and cold voice, “This mortal world, defiled once more.”
