Chapter 474: Chapter 473: We Deeply Apologize

opened its mouth to argue, but realizing it truly didn’t know, it shut its mouth sheepishly.

Gray continued, "Ma’am, many Traveling Merchants and survivors will flock there to fight for the dewdrops. If you plan to go, you’ll need to be prepared."

Seraphina Sinclair fell silent for a moment. "I do want to go, but how would I get there?"

"Navigation Card!" 001 blurted out the two words first, as if answering a quiz show question.

Glancing at Gray, it continued, "Ma’am! Do you remember that Navigation Card for the Wind-carved Fissure I sold you? All survivors can go to these special locations, but you must have a Navigation Card and a Mist Beacon."

Seraphina Sinclair gave a slight nod. ’That makes sense.’

But that wasn’t the issue. The real problem was how to get a Navigation Card.

For once, 001 managed to follow Seraphina Sinclair’s train of thought. It scratched its head, an embarrassed look on its small face. "Navigation Cards... I don’t have any. Cards for special locations like this are always in circulation, but only the people who get tipped off in advance can grab them. Even though I’m the President now, I heard the news too late. To go looking for one now..."

It paused, then said in a small voice, "I’m afraid it’s too late."

Seraphina Sinclair looked toward Gray.

Gray, however, shot 001 a look of exasperated disappointment. "In the past, it would indeed be too late. But have you forgotten? You’re the President now!"

"President?"

voiced its confusion, clearly not yet understanding what that word meant.

Gray said nothing, merely staring at it with all three of its eyes.

froze, then suddenly turned to look at Seraphina Sinclair.

Seraphina Sinclair could clearly see the profound panic in its eyes, as if it had realized something horrifying and couldn’t accept it.

But before Seraphina Sinclair could ask, 001’s gaze turned resolute.

"That’s right!" It pumped its fist, brow furrowed and expression deadly serious. "I’m the President now! Back when I was a Traveling Merchant, I was always groveling and begging everyone under the sun for scraps. But things are different now!"

"The previous Presidents were living the dream! I also want to—"

It stopped, looked at Seraphina Sinclair, and declared resolutely, "I will make sure that you and I, Ma’am, get to live that kind of good life!"

Seraphina Sinclair was even more baffled.

’But this shouldn’t cause any problems, right?’

’How could this much fighting spirit be a bad thing? And it even put my name before its own. So touching.’

001’s eyes grew brighter and brighter as the panic on its face was gradually replaced by a mixture of excitement and nervousness. It whirled to face Seraphina Sinclair, its small fists clenched tight. "Ma’am! I know how to get a Navigation Card! I’ll bring one back for you tomorrow, I absolutely will not disappoint you!"

’The process was a bit strange, but the result was what mattered.’

After a moment’s silence, Seraphina Sinclair nodded.

She chatted with Gray and the others for a little longer before finally seeing them all out.

left as well, explaining that the President had a dedicated office and residence, and it needed to get familiar with its new work environment.

Watching its proud and swaggering departure, Seraphina Sinclair felt that even the way the little thing walked had changed. Before, it would hunch its shoulders and keep its head down. Now, it puffed out its chest, held its head high, and looked as if it wanted to look down its nose at everyone.

She watched and mused with some emotion, ’Power really is nourishing.’

The door slid shut behind it, and the small cabin finally fell silent.

Seraphina Sinclair breathed a sigh of relief and sat down across from Luna Jacobs, her mind returning to the question she had asked earlier.

"If all you have to do is kill an organization’s leader to install your own candidate as the new one, why don’t other powers make a move?"

The moment she’d said it, Gray’s eyes had lit up, as if it had an answer prepared all along and was just waiting for Seraphina Sinclair to finally ask.

And that was, in fact, the case.

It had cleared its throat and delivered a clearly rehearsed speech: "The world has no such rule. The business with the President went smoothly for two reasons. First, because of your special status, and second, because he was courting death."

Seraphina Sinclair listened intently.

It turned out her "special status" wasn’t because she possessed the Door Key, as she had assumed, but because she was a survivor with a mobile cabin.

This meant that any human would meet the "special status" criteria.

As for the President courting his own death...

Seraphina Sinclair didn’t need Gray to explain that part.

Summoning a B-level forbidden monster in a D-level Coliseum, destroying the arena, deliberately attempting to murder the audience...

’Each and every one of those things counted as asking for it, didn’t they?’

Although Gray hadn’t said so explicitly, Seraphina Sinclair sensed that she—or rather, all of humanity—was now like a Royal Envoy who had been granted an Imperial Sword by the Emperor, able to act with sweeping authority.

There were many things that Gray and 001 couldn’t do, but that Seraphina Sinclair, as a human, could.

Seraphina Sinclair had no idea how long this status would last, but that didn’t stop the gears in her mind from turning.

’If I can run into big shots like the President at The Coliseum, then... the same should be true for the auction house, right?’

Seraphina Sinclair pushed aside her swirling thoughts and examined the panels that had popped up in front of her a while ago.

The first was a notice of congratulations.

It congratulated her for topping the D-level Black Mist Coliseum leaderboard with an unprecedented score of 2.5 million points.

The second was a reissue of her rewards.

At first, Seraphina Sinclair had assumed there wouldn’t be any rewards, since she had killed the President.

She hadn’t expected the system to be so impartial, capable of keeping its accounts separate.

Seraphina Sinclair opened the reward reissue page, and lines of text floated before her eyes.

[The challenger has achieved the following in the D-Class Coliseum:

1. Achieved a winning streak (including special summoned monsters)

2. First human to single-handedly kill ten peak D+ Umbral Bone Golems in a single match

3. First to remain conscious for over three minutes during an Abyssal Gazer’s Spiritual Attack

4. Broke the D-Class Coliseum’s all-time score record (2,500,000)

5. Killed the President of The Coliseum (Special Achievement)

Overall Rating: SSS-level

Distributing rewards...]

Seraphina Sinclair stared at the fifth line, silent for two seconds.

’Killing the President of The Coliseum counts as an achievement? Is the system encouraging rebellion?’

She shook her head and continued reading.

[Rewards Acquired: 500,000 Black Fog Coins, 2 B-level Supply Boxes, 1 A-level Supply Box, the "The Coliseum Terminator" title (Legendary Title), 100 portions of The Ashenbone Lord’s Ashes, 1 "Dark Moon Blade Scripture" Skill Book (S-Class)]

’So much stuff?’

The instant Seraphina Sinclair clicked to claim them, the table was suddenly crowded with rewards.

Luna Jacobs, who was focused on her Engraving Map: "..."

’Is this Master Blacktiger’s way of silently showing off?’

She didn’t say a word or even glance at Seraphina Sinclair, simply turning to hunch over another table.

’Back to work!’

Seraphina Sinclair paid her no mind. After claiming the congratulations and rewards, one notification panel remained.
