So, for the next ten minutes, Lin Yun and her companion watched the carriage behind them as the numbers changed several times.

Because they were staring at it, as if they had been noticed, the numbers finally stopped changing randomly after ten minutes.

Lin Yun then asked, "...Is this correct?"

"This isn’t right."

"I have a feeling it won’t behave so quickly. I keep feeling like it’ll change back to a number after we haven’t been paying attention to it for a while?"

Song Xizheng scratched his head, turned around, and sat up straight.0

"By the way, Sister Lin, did you notice the tourists in the different-numbered carriages behind us just now?"

Lin Yun’s lips twitched again. "I noticed, but they were both a man and a woman, and the windows of their carriages were a bit blurry, so I couldn’t see their faces clearly."

"Oh no, what do we do?"

"And what do the rules on the small sign mean?"

"Hey? Wait a minute! Sister Lin, look at this!"

Song Xizheng, who had been on his deathbed just moments ago, suddenly sat up, took the small sign, turned it over, and pointed to one of the rules on it.

"Although it says one lap takes an hour, it doesn’t seem to say how many laps there are, right? It only says you can get off after completing a full lap."

"It also says here that you can only go down at the point of 5. Does that mean that after completing a full lap, you can go down at 5, 15, and so on, and then from 50 to 59?"

Lin Yun hissed again. "That makes sense."

"Ding~"

"Ding~"

Suddenly, a dinging sound came from outside.

The two exchanged a glance, then ignored the voice and paid it no heed.

Lin Yun glanced outside again and suddenly realized that their carriage had reached its highest point, even though only a dozen minutes had passed.

A Ferris wheel takes an hour to complete one rotation, so it should reach its highest point around 30 minutes past the hour.

"This..."

"Hiss, but I didn’t feel like time went by quickly." Song Xizheng was also dumbfounded.

I chatted with Sister Lin for a couple of minutes, and then I saw that it was already at its peak.

"...At this rate, if nothing unexpected happens, we’ll have to do another lap."

"Can we sit around once more?" Song Xizheng asked.

"Knock knock."

"Knock knock."

Here we go again.

The two people still ignored them, as if the voices didn’t exist.

"Ah—help!"

The sound came from behind Lin Yun, from the carriage that had just reached its highest point.

The other carriage was wide open, and a woman was clinging tightly to the edge, hanging there. If she wasn’t careful, she would fall and be smashed to pieces.

"Waaaaah, help me, help me!"

The woman looked at the man in the carriage with pleading eyes.

She couldn’t hold on much longer; if they didn’t pull her up soon, she’d fall!

But the man in the carriage only gave her a cold glance before quickly looking away.

She was reckless and opened the window, then ate something in the carriage. If she didn’t get off, who would?

Soon, discussions began to emerge in many carriages, but it was mostly just discussion and observation.

Even the little green vests below saw this scene but did not take any corresponding measures.

Song Xizheng leaned closer, his hands resting on the table. "Sister Lin, do you think that was real or fake? Or was it just a performance for us?"

"I think there’s a good chance it’s an acting role."

Lin Yun glanced back again. "I’m not sure, but who cares? They’re probably trying to get us to do something."

The woman in the next carriage, terrified, couldn’t hold on for long before her strength gave way and she fell from the sky.

"Ah—"

With a thud.

The person crashed to the ground with a loud thud.

Song Xizheng instinctively tried to look down, but Lin Yun grabbed his arm again, saying, "Are you crazy?"

Song Xizheng shuddered, realized what was happening, and became obedient.

He looked at the carriage behind him, only to find that, without his knowledge, the carriage behind him had changed back to carriage number 1.

But... only 20 minutes had passed, and they were already slowly moving toward the finish line.

Lin Yun saw it too, and thinking back to when it had changed, she looked behind her. The carriage behind her had been carriage number 9 when the woman’s incident happened, but now it was carriage number 21.

"..."

Okay, okay, so originally their carriage was just randomly inserted between two numbers, but now it’s been completely shuffled, right?

How could they possibly find the pattern?

When would it become the complete sequence?

Furthermore, Lin Yun speculated that the Ferris wheel might only be able to go down at the exact moment of the 5th, in the complete sequence.

When they were about a quarter of the way through the Ferris wheel, a monster suddenly pounced on the outside of their carriage.

Song Xizheng was startled, patting his chest as if he were still shaken. "You scared me!"

The monster clung tightly to the glass, its gaping maw wide open, and a thick tongue licked the outside of the glass, leaving it covered in saliva.

The places it licked left marks and a lot of blood.

Its eyes were fixed on its prey inside the carriage, as if it wanted to devour them alive.

Then, another monster pounced on Lin Yun’s left side. It pounced with such force that the carriage shook slightly.

This newly arrived monster was much larger than the previous one. Unlike the one at the entrance, it didn’t drool and covet them; it just stared intently at them.

However, they now understood why the Ferris wheel rules stated not to open windows unnecessarily; it was probably because of this monster.

Lin Yun looked outside again and found several of these monsters clinging to the carriages.

"Sister Lin, another one has arrived." Song Xizheng was also exasperated and pointed to the spot behind Lin Yun.

Lin Yun looked back again and saw that, without her noticing, another monster had appeared behind her.

"...There are quite a lot of these little things."

One by one, the monsters climbed onto their carriage. The two carefully counted them; there were more than ten of them.

They now had to observe the carriages in front and behind them, as well as their current position, and they even had to look through gaps to see. It was really difficult for them.

"Isn’t this wrong, Sister Lin? We’re back to square one."

Song Xizheng found a gap, but realized something was wrong.

Lin Yun exclaimed again because there was no gap for her to see through, and she was extremely anxious.

The monsters outside were no better than the other one; they were all licking the glass, acting as if licking it a couple more times would make them come in and eat them.

Now the outside glass was covered in their saliva, and a foul odor from their saliva was wafting in through the cracks.

For a while, neither of them spoke. They both understood that the rules were becoming more troublesome the longer they watched them. The carriage numbers were already impossible to follow, and the strange sounds outside clearly had a purpose. Yet the most troublesome part was that they could not tell which things were meant to frighten them and which things were actually dangerous.

Lin Yun kept the small sign in mind. Every word on it now seemed important, especially the warning about the carriages around them. She had originally thought that simply remembering their own number would be enough, but the changing numbers had made even that simple task difficult. If they looked away for too long, something might change again.

Song Xizheng also became more serious. Although he liked to complain, he understood that making one wrong move here could cause serious trouble. He carefully watched the surroundings whenever he found a chance, but the more he observed, the more confusing everything became.

The monsters outside made matters even worse. Their disgusting tongues repeatedly dragged across the glass, and the strange stains they left behind made it difficult to see clearly. The foul smell entering through the cracks was unpleasant enough to make Song Xizheng wrinkle his nose.

Lin Yun could only remain calm and think carefully. Since they couldn’t determine the pattern yet, they could only continue observing and avoid touching anything unnecessarily. Neither of them dared to relax. The Ferris wheel continued turning, carrying them higher and farther away from the ground with every passing moment.

Lin Yun could only take two masks out of her backpack and give one to Song Xizheng.

She couldn’t see outside, so she got up and moved toward Song Xizheng.
