Surviving the Infinite Survival Game by Exploiting Glitches
Chapter 239: Ms. Bai Yu
When they arrived, they saw that the furniture Lin Yun had picked out the day before had been carried back into the yard piece by piece by the hardworking Tuan Tuan.
When Miss Green Bamboo had arranged for the delivery person to come, Tuan Tuan had happened to be out hunting nearby and was not home. The deliveryman had called out twice, waited a while, and after confirming that no one was home, had no choice but to leave the furniture at the yard gate. He had even thoughtfully tied a rope around the furniture and fastened it to the gate to show that the items belonged to the homeowner, so that no careless person would take them away. After doing all that, he had left. They had encountered this situation far too many times when homeowners were out. At first, they would wait for the owner to return, but after a while they had become quite shrewd and efficient.
"Wow! This place is so nice! There’s even a lake behind it!"
Miss Rabbit dismounted from her pet mount and ran a few steps.
Lin Yun patted Sang Biao, and after he shrank and went back into the courtyard to find Tuan Tuan and get to know her better, she answered, "Yes, we specifically chose this place because we were worried about running out of water. What do you think? The scenery is pretty good, isn’t it?"
Miss Rabbit nodded repeatedly. "This place is so beautiful! Deer, why don’t I move in and be your neighbor?"
Lin Yun was stunned, not expecting Miss Rabbit to say that. "Sure. You’re welcome anytime."
Miss Rabbit chuckled twice. Instead of rushing to make a decision, she wandered around and saw the house across the lake.
"That is...?"
Lin Yun looked in the direction she was looking and said, "That’s Ms. Bai Yu’s house. The swan."
"Ms. Bai Yu?!" Miss Rabbit’s expression turned a little strange. "So Ms. Bai Yu lives here."
"Do you know her?" Lin Yun asked, still somewhat curious.
Miss Rabbit did not answer. Instead, she looked across the lake. After a long silence, she finally spoke. "They say that Ms. Bai Yu is not a good person. She’s not from the Western Continent. She comes from the Eastern Continent. She runs the largest gem trading business in the Western Continent. But they all say that Ms. Bai Yu wants to steal their gold coins because her gems are too expensive."
Lin Yun was silent for a while, then spoke somewhat speechlessly. "...If they’re expensive, then don’t buy them. It doesn’t seem as if Ms. Bai Yu forced anyone to buy."
Miss Rabbit sighed in exasperation. "Yes, that’s true, but Ms. Bai Yu comes from the Eastern Continent. The largest race in the Eastern Continent is the human race, so races that come from the Eastern Continent aren’t liked by the people of the Western Continent. The gems Ms. Bai Yu brought are very beautiful. They have also been processed and made into various ornaments, so it’s normal that they’re a bit expensive. However, the people of the Western Continent believe that Ms. Bai Yu intends to use these flashy but impractical gems to earn gold coins to send back to the humans of the Eastern Continent."
At this point, a hint of sarcasm showed on Miss Rabbit’s face. "But while they keep saying that Ms. Bai Yu isn’t a good person, they actually take out a lot of gold coins to buy those gems."
Lin Yun fell silent. On the one hand, they said that Ms. Bai Yu was a bad person from the Eastern Continent and criticized her for selling expensive things. On the other hand, they spent money to buy her gems. What was this called? Hating the thing but loving the profit? Lin Yun was still a little confused, and even felt a bit baffled. However, none of this concerned her. She had met Ms. Bai Yu only once.
"All right, let’s not talk about that anymore. Want to come into my yard and take a look? It’s a bit messy, though."
"Okay, okay! It’s fine if it’s messy. I know you haven’t finished tidying up yet!"
Miss Rabbit followed Lin Yun into the courtyard. She stayed there for a while and then left.
Lin Yun did not go out again for the rest of the day. She was preparing the items to sell in the shop the next day.
The system suddenly hesitated and said, [Host... when are we going to complete the acquisition mission? Quite a few survivors are waiting for me to list it!]
"No rush. Let me earn a month’s worth of gold coins first. Anyway, based on the output of the mutated peach trees, they’ll definitely be able to supply you in a month."
The system sighed softly, afraid that Lin Yun would forget again.
After finishing her work, Lin Yun began arranging the living room, bringing in all the furniture from the yard and setting it up piece by piece. It was past four o’clock in the afternoon when she finally finished taking care of things in the house. But she did not stop, because she had not yet sorted the fruit she had bought yesterday. She had not forgotten why she bought it. She wanted to cultivate a variant of the fruit trees unique to this special world. Since she was already here, of course she should take some local specialties with her, right? If she did not enjoy them now, when would she? What if she suddenly passed away one day and could not enjoy anything anymore?
"You two eat. Remember to save the pits for me when you’re done, so I can plant some."
Lin Yun stuffed the two little ones with a lot of different kinds of fruit, all unique to this special world. The two little ones sniffed the fruit, and after confirming that it was delicious, began to eat heartily.
"Ugh, this tastes a bit sour! It’s not good!"
Sang Biao spat twice, his cat face scrunched up from the sourness. Lin Yun quickly poured water for him, and Sang Biao immediately buried his face in the water and began slurping. She looked at the fruit. Oh... it was a sour fruit. No wonder Sang Biao had scrunched up his face. But could this replace lemons? There did not seem to be any lemons in her yard, but planting one would be fine.
Seeing this, Tuan Tuan quickly pushed away the fruit that looked exactly like the one Sang Biao had just eaten, not daring to eat it. Fortunately, apart from that sour fruit, most of the other fruits were delicious. Some of the bland, tasteless ones were picked out by Sang Biao and Tuan Tuan, who did not like them.
After removing the seeds from the fruit pits, sorting them, labeling them, and storing them away, Lin Yun finally breathed a sigh of relief. Her task for the day was done. One more infusion of Wood Spirit Breath, and it would be finished.
Lin Yun had just dusted herself off and gotten up when there was a knock on the door.
The Ghost Vine stirred and said, [It’s the same swan who came last time.]
"A swan? Ms. Bai Yu." Lin Yun realized what was happening and went to open the door.
"Good afternoon, Miss Lu You." Ms. Bai Yu had a basket slung over one arm and waved with the other hand.
"Good afternoon, Ms. Bai Yu. Would you like to come in and sit down? My new furniture has just been arranged."
"Okay, thank you for your hospitality, Miss Lu You. I brought some cookies with me. I hope you like them."
Ms. Bai Yu followed Lin Yun into the courtyard and then into the living room. After sitting down, Ms. Bai Yu did not waste any more words with Lin Yun and went straight to the point.
