Sweet Time Only for You: The Entanglement between Mr. Lu and Miss Song
Chapter 1009: Questioning Yan Zhengxiong
The Mainland Grand Theater was only recently completed—how could such a major accident happen already? The timing was way too "coincidental."
Yan Kejun focused, and a bad premonition suddenly surged up in his heart.
The next second, something suddenly occurred to him.
His narrowed dark eyes snapped tight, then shrank; the next moment, he grabbed the car keys from his desk and strode out of the office.
...
South Suburb Rich Area, in a standalone villa by the lake.
In the spacious study, Yan Zhengxiong sat upright in front of the sofa, savoring the freshly brewed Da Hong Pao from the teapot.
The door was pushed open and his assistant walked in.
"Chairman, the matter has been taken care of."
Yan Zhengxiong’s hawk-like eyes instantly lit up, and a cold, conspiratorial smile surfaced on his face.
"Hmph!" He let out a snort through his nose. "This time I want to see what solution Lu Jihan can possibly come up with to break this dead end."
The assistant sounded excited as well: "Chairman, this time we’re sure to defeat Mainland Group!"
At those words, the smugness on Yan Zhengxiong’s face faded slightly.
"Relying on such a little trick to bring down Mainland Group is still far off, but to say we’ve avenged the humiliation from the last bidding case—that’s not an exaggeration."
The assistant nodded in agreement.
"You can go for now. I need to think about our next step."
"Yes."
The assistant dipped his head slightly and exited the study.
He had just turned the corner and gone downstairs when he ran into Yan Kejun coming in through the foyer, a face full of anger.
"Young Master, you..."
The assistant hadn’t even finished speaking when Yan Kejun brushed past him like a gust of wind.
Forcing down the anger in his chest, Yan Kejun pressed his thin lips together, his whole body drawn tight.
It was as if he had wind and fire wheels under his feet; he charged up to the second floor in a flurry, didn’t even knock, and walked straight into the study.
Yan Zhengxiong seemed to have already anticipated his arrival; he only lifted his eyelids slightly.
"Kejun, you’re here."
Yan Kejun strode over and leaned on the desk, staring at Yan Zhengxiong’s face as he questioned, "Uncle, tell me—was the accident at the Mainland Theater arranged by you?!"
"That’s right, it was me."
Yan Zhengxiong didn’t deny it in the slightest.
Yan Kejun’s pupils suddenly dilated.
"Uncle, you can’t do this!"
"Can’t?"
Yan Zhengxiong lifted his brows slightly; his eyes, old yet still sharp and hawk-like, narrowed as he gave a cold laugh:
"I do something, and I need your permission? Kejun, I think you’re confused. I am the chairman of Yan Group, and you are currently only the executive CEO appointed by the board."
Yan Kejun clenched his teeth and said, "That female pianist named Ning Wan is still lying on the operating table. Reporters have already surrounded the entire Mainland Group, and I’m afraid the police have also gotten involved. What you’ve done is utterly lawless!"
"Heh."
Yan Zhengxiong chuckled dismissively and said, "Isn’t this exactly the outcome our Yan Group wants to see? Don’t worry, I’ve always handled things very cleanly; it won’t implicate our Yan Family. In other words, this matter no longer has anything to do with us Yan Family."
Seeing the indifference on Yan Zhengxiong’s face, Yan Kejun felt his heart sink.
"Uncle, what you’ve done is going way too far! For Yan Family to defeat Mainland Group, do we really have to go this far?!"
"In the face of success, any means can be forgiven."
He paused, then narrowed his keen eyes at his nephew. "Kejun, you’re still too green, too soft-hearted. You’ll have to change that in the future."
