Chapter 48: The Masters Who Wielded Everything

The remaining weapon masters advanced across the battlefield.

Subin stood alone in their path, Simple Edge held loosely in his right hand.

There were seven of them now.

A hammer master.

A shield-and-short-sword master.

An archer.

A dual-blade master.

A chain master.

A staff master.

And a dual-spear master.

Their levels ranged from 52 to 55.

Unlike the previous stage, none of them seemed eager to fight alone.

They moved together.

Subin immediately understood.

This was the real challenge.

The first ten masters had taught him how individual weapons controlled combat. These masters were going to show him what happened when different weapon paths were combined.

The archer raised his bow.

Subin moved before the arrow was released.

An arrow cut through the space where his head had been.

At the same time, the spear master thrust toward his chest.

Subin turned his body.

The spear passed beside him.

The chain master attacked from behind.

Subin's Predator's Sense warned him.

He jumped.

The chain swept underneath.

Before he landed, the hammer master struck the ground.

A shockwave spread across the battlefield.

Subin landed on the edge of the affected area and immediately activated Fang Step.

His body shifted sideways.

A shield crashed into the position he had occupied.

The shield master followed with a short sword.

Subin blocked.

The impact pushed him backward.

Another arrow came.

Subin tilted his head.

The arrow passed.

The chain returned.

Subin cut through it.

The mana chain split apart, then immediately reformed.

Subin frowned slightly.

"They're covering each other's weaknesses."

That was the answer.

The archer controlled long range.

The spear controlled mid-range.

The chain prevented escape.

The shield controlled territory.

The hammer punished movement.

The dual blades covered close-range openings.

The staff connected the spaces between them.

It was a complete battlefield system.

Subin stopped attacking.

Instead, he began observing.

The weapon masters moved as though they had fought together for years.

But they were projections.

Their coordination was perfect because each weapon had been designed to complement another.

Subin's Sword Comprehension activated.

[Combat Analysis: 11%.]

The shield master moved forward.

The spear master remained behind it.

The archer positioned himself at an angle.

Subin suddenly understood.

The shield wasn't the center of the formation.

The spear was.

The shield protected the spear.

The chain protected the shield's blind side.

The archer covered the entire formation.

And the hammer controlled anyone attempting to break through.

Subin smiled.

"Then I'll start there."

He moved.

The spear master attacked.

Subin didn't block.

He stepped outside the thrust and continued forward.

The spear rotated.

Subin used Fang Step.

The weapon missed.

The shield master immediately moved to intercept him.

Subin changed direction.

The shield blocked his path.

The chain came from the side.

Subin ducked.

The hammer descended.

He jumped backward.

The archer fired.

Subin cut the arrow apart.

He landed.

The formation remained intact.

Subin took a breath.

He needed another approach.

He couldn't break the formation by attacking individual members.

He needed to break its structure.

His eyes moved across the battlefield.

The shield.

The spear.

The chain.

The hammer.

The staff.

The dual blades.

The archer.

Seven weapons.

Seven roles.

One formation.

Subin remembered the lesson from the first Weapon Battlefield.

A weapon controlled a space.

Now he understood something deeper.

A formation controlled relationships between spaces.

His eyes sharpened.

He moved toward the shield master.

The shield immediately advanced.

Subin stopped.

The spear thrust.

He moved sideways.

The chain attacked.

He stepped backward.

The hammer came down.

He moved forward.

The shield master adjusted.

Subin suddenly changed direction again.

The shield followed.

Exactly as he expected.

The shield had become separated from the spear by several meters.

Subin accelerated.

Fang Step.

The distance disappeared.

Simple Edge flashed.

The shield master raised its shield.

Subin didn't strike the shield.

He struck the ground beside it.

The impact forced the projection sideways.

The shield moved.

The spear master lost its protection.

Subin stepped through the gap.

The spear thrust toward him.

Simple Edge redirected it.

Subin moved past the spear.

One clean cut.

[Weapon Master defeated.]

The spear master disappeared.

[Weapon Master 14/100 defeated.]

The formation changed immediately.

The remaining masters adjusted.

Subin's eyes narrowed.

They were adapting.

The shield master moved toward the archer.

The chain master moved forward.

The hammer master occupied the center.

The staff master covered the rear.

The dual blades moved around the sides.

It was no longer the same formation.

Subin smiled.

"Good."

He wanted exactly this.

A formation that could adapt.

He needed to understand adaptation under pressure.

The chain master attacked.

Subin moved backward.

The chain curved around him.

He turned.

The chain followed.

Subin suddenly stepped toward it.

Instead of avoiding the chain, he allowed it to pass around his arm.

Then he pulled.

The chain master lost balance.

Subin used the weapon's own momentum.

The master stumbled forward.

Simple Edge touched its chest.

[Weapon Master 15/100 defeated.]

The chain disappeared.

The hammer master attacked immediately.

Subin didn't retreat.

He moved diagonally.

The hammer passed beside him.

He stepped closer.

The master swung again.

Subin used Seamless Edge.

His sword moved from defense to offense without a pause.

The hammer master blocked.

Subin changed direction.

The hammer master followed.

Subin repeated the movement.

The projection became increasingly unstable.

Its weapon was powerful, but its recovery time was too long.

Subin entered during the recovery.

Simple Edge touched its chest.

[Weapon Master 16/100 defeated.]

The remaining five masters changed formation again.

The archer fired.

Subin moved.

The staff master advanced.

The dual blades attacked from both sides.

The shield master blocked the front.

Subin suddenly found himself surrounded.

He didn't panic.

His Sword Intent expanded.

He could feel the intentions of the five opponents.

The archer intended to force him left.

The staff intended to push him backward.

The dual blades intended to cut off his escape.

The shield intended to stop his advance.

They weren't attacking him independently.

They were controlling his decisions.

Subin closed his eyes for a fraction of a second.

Then opened them.

"You're trying to decide where I can move."

He stepped forward.

The shield blocked.

Subin turned.

The staff attacked.

He moved beneath it.

The dual blades crossed.

Subin stepped between them.

The archer released an arrow.

Subin cut it apart.

Then he moved toward the archer.

The shield master followed.

Subin suddenly stopped.

The shield master collided with the staff master.

The formation broke for less than a second.

That was enough.

Subin moved.

Simple Edge flashed.

The archer disappeared.

[Weapon Master 17/100 defeated.]

The shield master attacked immediately.

Subin blocked.

The short sword followed.

Subin redirected it.

The shield struck.

Subin stepped aside.

He didn't attempt to destroy the shield.

Instead, he attacked the warrior's legs.

The shield master lowered the shield.

Subin changed direction.

The short sword came toward his neck.

He tilted his head.

Simple Edge touched the projection's shoulder.

[Weapon Master 18/100 defeated.]

Only three remained.

The dual-blade master.

The staff master.

The hammer master had already fallen.

The three masters stood apart.

Subin didn't move.

Neither did they.

Then the dual-blade master attacked.

It was faster than before.

Two blades moved continuously.

Subin blocked one.

The second came from below.

He stepped backward.

The staff master attacked from the side.

Subin rotated.

The staff passed behind him.

The dual blades followed.

Subin suddenly realized the three masters were now using each other's movements.

The staff controlled distance.

The dual blades exploited openings.

The shield had been replaced by positioning.

This was becoming increasingly difficult.

Subin's sword moved.

He blocked.

Again.

Again.

His feet shifted constantly.

The system appeared.

[Combat Analysis: 31%.]

Subin's Sword God Foundation responded.

[Foundation resonance detected.]

He understood.

The weapon itself wasn't the important part.

The important part was what the wielder did with the space created by the weapon.

The staff created distance.

The dual blades exploited distance.

The sword connected the two.

Subin's movements became smoother.

His sword didn't chase weapons anymore.

It controlled the space between them.

He stepped forward.

The staff master attacked.

Subin redirected the staff.

The dual-blade master moved in.

Subin turned.

Simple Edge passed between the two blades.

The dual-blade master froze.

[Weapon Master 19/100 defeated.]

The staff master immediately attacked.

Subin didn't retreat.

He stepped inside.

The staff had lost its ideal range.

One cut.

[Weapon Master 20/100 defeated.]

The battlefield became silent.

Only one master remained.

The dual-spear master.

Level 55.

The master held two long spears.

Subin stared at it.

The final opponent walked forward.

Then it attacked.

The two spears moved independently.

One thrust.

Subin blocked.

The second swept toward his legs.

He jumped.

The first spear returned.

Subin twisted.

The weapon passed beneath his arm.

Subin counterattacked.

The spear master blocked with the second spear.

The battle accelerated.

Two weapons.

Two attack ranges.

Two separate rhythms.

Yet the master controlled them as one.

Subin's eyes became sharper.

He had seen dual weapons before.

But this was different.

The two spears weren't simply being used independently.

One controlled the opponent's movement.

The other punished the reaction.

Subin began analyzing.

[Combat Analysis: 24%.]

Another exchange.

31%.

Another.

43%.

The dual-spear master suddenly changed rhythm.

Subin was struck in the shoulder.

He moved backward.

The projection attacked again.

Subin blocked.

The second spear struck his side.

His body was pushed several meters.

Subin steadied himself.

The master charged.

Subin raised Simple Edge.

The three weapons collided.

Clang!

Subin's arm trembled.

He had underestimated the projection.

Level 55.

B+.

And its weapon control was exceptional.

Subin stopped trying to predict individual attacks.

Instead, he watched the relationship between the two spears.

The first spear always created the decision.

The second spear always punished it.

Then Subin smiled.

"I understand."

He stepped forward.

The first spear thrust.

Subin moved toward it.

The second spear attacked.

Subin moved toward that too.

Both spears passed around him.

Subin had entered the center of their combined range.

The dual-spear master tried to retreat.

Subin followed.

Simple Edge moved.

The master blocked.

Subin continued.

The projection changed direction.

Subin adapted.

The fight became a continuous exchange.

Neither opponent could create distance.

Subin's sword began moving naturally.

Foundation.

Flow.

Control.

Intent.

Edge.

Continuity.

Adaptation.

All seven principles operated together.

Then something inside Subin changed.

He didn't consciously activate Seamless Edge.

He didn't activate Complete Continuity.

He didn't deliberately invoke Weaponless Sword.

His sword simply moved.

His body followed.

His intent preceded both.

Simple Edge became almost weightless.

The projection's two spears moved toward him.

Subin stepped between them.

His sword rose.

One cut.

The two spears separated.

A second movement.

Simple Edge touched the master's chest.

The projection stopped.

[Weapon Master defeated.]

[Weapon Master 21/100 defeated.]

The remaining battlefield dissolved.

Subin stood alone.

The system appeared.

[Stage Two Progress: 21/100.]

[Advanced Weapon Understanding increased.]

[Battlefield Control: 65% → 71%.]

[Sword God Foundation: 76% → 81%.]

[Personal Sword Path: 54% → 60%.]

[Sword Intent Comprehension: 36% → 38%.]

Subin looked at his sword.

Simple Edge's synchronization increased.

99.96% → 99.97%.

He didn't feel any sudden explosion of power.

Instead, he felt something more subtle.

His swordsmanship had become quieter.

Cleaner.

More natural.

He had spent so long collecting techniques that he had nearly forgotten the most important thing.

A sword was not a collection of techniques.

It was a way of understanding movement.

He looked across the empty battlefield.

The trial wasn't finished.

Seventy-nine weapon masters remained.

And the next opponents would be even stronger.

The system displayed one final message.

[New condition detected.]

[When Personal Sword Path reaches 60%, the next stage will no longer test individual weapon mastery.]

Subin's eyes narrowed.

A new stage?

The battlefield began changing around him.

The stone floor expanded.

New terrain appeared.

Mountains rose from the ground.

A forest formed on one side.

A river appeared on another.

Platforms floated in the air.

Hundreds of weapon projections began appearing in the distance.

Subin looked at the transformation calmly.

The trial was becoming larger.

More complex.

More difficult.

He tightened his grip on Simple Edge.

"Then I'll keep learning."

The first hundred masters had been a lesson in weapons.

The next part would be a lesson in war.

And Subin was ready to enter it.
