Chapter 318: Chapter 204: Dinner (Part 2)

Su Xing could roughly guess what Su Yu was implying, so he explained his entire relationship with Li Longxuan to put his brother’s mind at ease.

Sure enough, Su Yu was stunned for a moment. He then dropped the subject and started asking about what happened next in the Secret Realm.

"Nothing to worry about. We’ve pretty much taken care of it."

Afterward, Su Xing briefly told Su Yu what had happened inside the Secret Realm. Su Yu, in turn, gave a detailed account of his experiences over the two days since he had left.

Right now, Su Yu was with Lu Anning and the others.

He planned on returning to the Spirit Realm tomorrow. After all, the Spirit Realm hadn’t escaped the crisis yet, and things could happen at any moment. It was best for him to return if he could.

"Big Bro, once you’re done with things over there, remember to go back and check on Lu Anning. I think she broke through to Tier Five, but..."

Su Yu didn’t say this last part over the phone.

Instead, he transmitted it directly into Su Xing’s ear using a "Sound Transmission" sequence. This immediately put Su Xing on high alert; he realized something strange must have happened to Lu Anning for Su Yu to warn him so specifically.

"I got it."

Su Xing nodded.

"Okay, see you then."

Su Yu hung up. Su Xing sat in his chair as a panel silently materialized before his eyes. It was Lu Anning’s system panel, but it still showed her stats from the last time he had seen her.

’I have to admit, Lu Anning’s leveling speed is insane.’

’It’s not much slower than my own.’

After all, when Su Xing first met Lu Anning, he was already at Tier Four. Now, he had reached Tier Six, while Lu Anning had gone from nothing to a full-fledged Tier Five.

If Su Xing was a monster, then Lu Anning’s leveling speed could only be described as defying the heavens. It was just that her power wasn’t yet at a level where she could stand on her own, which was why Su Xing hadn’t previously realized just how strong his disciple had become.

’Still... what could have happened that would make Su Yu specifically tell me to rush back?’

Su Xing recalled his own breakthrough to Tier Five—how it had drawn upon the martial fortune of the Martial God Hall, and how he had seen that boy in the sky. He froze, a sudden suspicion dawning on him.

"Don’t tell me Lu went through the same thing..."

"What are you talking about?"

Knowing Su Xing’s true strength, Li Yu would never have eavesdropped on his conversation with his brother; it would have been incredibly disrespectful. But now that Su Xing had hung up and was suddenly muttering to himself, Li Yu’s curiosity was piqued, so he had to ask.

"It’s nothing. Just something related to my disciple."

Su Xing said, shaking his head.

Seeing that Su Xing didn’t intend to elaborate, Li Yu naturally didn’t press the issue. He had a vague recollection of the young woman who always called him Coach Su.

The special organization had discovered she was a Martial Artist a long time ago but had never approached her about joining. This wasn’t because her talent was lacking or for some other reason; on the contrary, her aptitude was terrifyingly high.

At the time, however, the special organization suspected that the young woman might be the disciple of the mysterious master at the Sword Hall. They had held off on making contact, fearing they might displease this unknown powerhouse.

In hindsight, that decision had been the right one.

"I see. Younger Brother Su, if you ever run into any trouble that I or the organization can help with, please don’t hesitate to let me know."

Li Yu said with a smile.

"Haha, of course."

Su Xing replied with a smile of his own.

Given his friendship with Li Longxuan that transcended their age difference, it was impossible for Su Xing to ever have a conflict with the special organization. So, with Li Yu now offering a friendly gesture, Su Xing naturally had to accept it.

Afterward, Su Xing and Li Yu chatted as they drove.

Just as dusk began to blur the world into shades of gray, a system notification suddenly chimed in Su Xing’s mind. Evidently, the Sword Dao Points he had absorbed in the Secret Realm had finished being tallied.

[Sword Dao Points: 297]

Although Su Xing could go toe-to-toe with a Tier Eight Powerhouse in his "Shatter" state, he wasn’t a true Tier Eight. He had no grounds for pride. At the end of the day, he just had to keep getting stronger.

’I’ll prioritize putting points into Breathing Rhythm.’

Su Xing thought to himself.

His entire journey to this point, he had always followed a simple rule for allocating points: prioritize Breathing Rhythm, then distribute the rest evenly. Since it had proven effective, he saw no reason to change it now.

He was currently at the Tier Six Realm. Thanks to Li Longxuan’s teachings, Su Xing’s grasp of space had improved, allowing him to stand upon it and giving him the ability to fight in the air.

It was just that Su Xing’s control wasn’t fluid.

He was nowhere near the level of someone like Li Longxuan. For masters like him, using space was as natural as eating or breathing. For Su Xing, however, it felt forced, like consciously mimicking the way someone else walked.

The only way to change this was to either deepen his understanding of space or continue to advance his cultivation realm.

Unfortunately, Su Xing couldn’t add the points right now.

Although he’d experienced a temporary breakthrough in the Secret Realm thanks to that crystal, he hadn’t forgotten just how agonizing a system-induced breakthrough could be. At that thought, he suddenly remembered the crystal shards he’d kept in his pocket.

"Teacher Li, what is this?"

Su Xing quickly pulled the glass-like fragments from his pocket and showed them to Li Yu, who was driving. Li Yu examined them closely but finally shook his head.

"I don’t know."

"Our special organization has cleared plenty of Secret Realms, but none of them have been on the same scale as this one. Perhaps this is something that only appears in high-level Secret Realms."

The special organization learned many things from ancient texts, but Secret Realms themselves were a phenomenon that only appeared in large numbers in the modern era.

With the resurgence of Spiritual Qi, all sorts of ancient resurrection schemes and miscellaneous old monsters were suddenly popping up. In many cases, the special organization was simply feeling its way forward in the dark.

"Alright, I understand."

Though he hadn’t gotten an answer, Su Xing wasn’t particularly bothered. He had only asked out of simple curiosity.

In truth, what it was called and where it came from was irrelevant. All Su Xing needed to know was that it could help him achieve a rapid breakthrough.

If he could get his hands on a few more, he might even be able to break through on the spot in a dangerous situation, giving him another ace up his sleeve for survival.

"Mm."

"Perhaps you could ask my father."

Li Yu pointed ahead. "We’re almost there."

The car continued onward, and ten minutes later, it came to a stop before a quiet military compound.

The car door opened, and Su Xing stepped out, taking a look around.

It was his first time in a place like this. Though called a compound, it looked just like the siheyuan—traditional courtyard homes—he knew of. Of course, a siheyuan in Cang City was nowhere near as expensive as one in the Capital City. Elder Li was probably just accustomed to living in such places.

"Yu. Su."

A gentle voice called out. A woman stood in the doorway watching them. Her clothes were simple, but they couldn’t conceal the quiet elegance of her bearing. This was clearly Li Yu’s mother.

’Tier Six...’

Su Xing marveled inwardly.

Although Li Yu’s mother looked like an ordinary person, the power hidden within her seemingly delicate frame was undeniable. As Su Xing’s own strength grew, his senses had sharpened, allowing him to perceive her true level at a glance.

"This is my mother, Wu Chunling."

"Mom, this is Su Xing. He’s the one who saved me."

Li Yu made the introductions.

"Su, please come in," Wu Chunling said with a smile. "Dinner is ready. Please, make yourself at home."

"Then I won’t stand on ceremony."

Su Xing wasn’t one for false modesty. He let out a laugh and followed them into the courtyard.

A gentle breeze drifted by under the hazy night sky.

That night, Su Xing truly came into contact with figures others couldn’t even dream of meeting. He had stepped into the absolute upper echelon of Cang City.
