Chapter 319: Chapter 205: A Lion Uses Its Full Strength, Even on a Rabbit
"You’re Su Xing?"
As he stepped inside, the enticing aroma of food wafted toward him, accompanied by a man’s voice.
Su Xing’s gaze followed the voice to a sofa. It was a massive couch, big enough to seat ten, but only one man was on it. He looked to be not much older than Li Yu, lounging back and playing on his phone, not bothering to give Su Xing a single glance.
"Brother..."
Li Yu seemed to realize his older brother was looking for trouble and quickly tried to intervene. But Su Xing was no longer the insignificant figure he once was; he simply smiled faintly and said:
"That’s me. You needed something?"
"Of course not."
Li Chong chuckled, his smile filled with a sinister quality, as he spoke nonchalantly,
"I’ve heard about you often, even way out in the Capital City. I’m quite curious about a hidden master like yourself. If the opportunity arises, you’ll have to show me what you’ve really got."
The words were barbed.
But Su Xing was unfazed.
Li Chong was clearly the type to be deeply distrustful of strangers suddenly showing up in his house, a distrust that manifested as aggression. For Su Xing, however, a mere verbal confrontation was nothing.
Though Su Xing remained calm, Li Yu frowned. He knew Su Xing’s personality well enough to know he wouldn’t take something like this to heart.
But as a member of the host family, he couldn’t just let his brother keep picking at their guest. He said,
"Li Chong, he is Father’s guest."
"Tch. That’s been your only move since we were kids."
Li Chong curled his lip in a show of indifference, but his eyes never left Su Xing. In his mind, those with power should display it. With a secretive character like Su Xing, who knew what hidden schemes he might be plotting.
In any case, Li Chong didn’t trust him.
He didn’t just distrust Su Xing; he was deeply wary of him. Su Xing wasn’t merely mysterious—he possessed genuine power.
This was the true source of Li Chong’s hostility.
"..."
Faced with Li Chong’s petulant attitude, Li Yu was at a loss for words. Li Chong was his brother, after all, and he couldn’t bring himself to say anything too harsh.
Besides,
Li Chong’s hostility was actually born from concern.
He worried about Su Xing’s true intentions in approaching his father and younger brother. He suspected Su Xing had ulterior motives, which was why he was being so prickly.
"Alright, you all enjoy your meal."
Li Chong waved his hand dismissively, stood up, and walked toward the door. Just as he was about to reach it, Wu Chunling happened to walk in from outside.
She had just stepped away to take a call and had gotten news that Li Longxuan was on his way home. Seeing Li Chong about to leave, she immediately asked:
"Your father’s on his way back. Where do you think you’re going instead of eating dinner?"
"Back to the Capital City."
"I’ll come back and see you two when I have the chance."
Li Chong waved his hand, not even turning his head as he walked out. Wu Chunling was stunned and about to say something, but she remembered they had a guest and swallowed the words of reproach. She turned her head and said to Su Xing:
"Su, Long Xuan just called. He said he’ll be here any minute."
"Mom, is Father hurt?" Li Yu asked.
"No, he’s safe."
"He’s getting more and more proficient with this technique. Unless the doppelgänger takes a particularly heavy blow, it shouldn’t affect his main body."
After speaking with Li Yu, Wu Chunling said softly to Su Xing, "Long Xuan is usually quite frugal. Even with an honored guest today, we didn’t hire a top chef, so I had to prepare the meal myself."
The honored guest,
of course, was Su Xing.
Though Wu Chunling’s words were modest, having Li Longxuan’s wife personally cook was an honor not afforded to just any "honored guest."
However,
Su Xing’s power was undeniable.
He was so young—barely in his early twenties—yet he already possessed such immense combat strength. He was naturally worthy of this special treatment.
"You’re too kind, Lady Wu. I am merely a junior to Elder Li."
Su Xing said with a smile, as if the incident with Li Chong had never happened at all. At the very least, it hadn’t affected him in the slightest.
Seeing Su Xing’s disposition, Wu Chunling was not surprised. If someone favored by Li Longxuan was so easily provoked, she would have to question Li Longxuan’s judgment of character.
"Please, sit."
"Alright."
With that, Su Xing and Li Yu followed Wu Chunling into the kitchen and sat down. It had to be said, Li Longxuan was indeed a frugal man. Given his position in the special organization, attaining wealth and glory would have been effortless.
But from what Su Xing had seen and heard since arriving,
aside from the large grounds of the military compound, everything else—the decor, the food—was utterly ordinary. Nothing hinted at the host’s status.
But Li Longxuan’s status never needed to be proven by material things. His name alone was the best testament.
Countless Extraordinary Beings dreamed of such a thing—to make crowds gasp in awe just by stating their name. But the gap between different levels of talent has always been far greater than the gap between having talent and having none at all.
People like those Su Xing had known before could never reach this step. But Su Xing himself already had one foot in that circle. If he so wished, with his current power, he could easily build a formidable reputation for himself.
