Chapter 448: Chapter 269: Countdown 2

This meant the distance each Extraordinary Being could travel via spatial movement naturally varied. Su Xing, at least, had a clear limit to each of his jumps; otherwise, he could have just teleported directly to Hang Lake instead of taking the bullet train.

Soon enough, Su Xing arrived in Hang Lake by bullet train. It was nearly evening by the time he got there, with dusk hanging in the sky.

Ordinarily, he would have found a place to stay first. But recalling Ling Zhongxing’s words, he thought for a moment and decided to go take a look right away.

Hang Lake was one of Xia Country’s famous scenic spots and was currently teeming with people. However, in a particularly remote corner, Tong Yinyin and Li Ye were surrounded by four strangely dressed men.

"Why are you four gentlemen blocking our path?"

Tong Yinyin asked with a smile.

"Heh. Word of what you two did at the Cyan Cloud Sect travels fast, doesn’t it?"

A man with a handlebar mustache spoke, his eyes narrowing. He was Sha Quanjia, and his seniority in Jile Valley was higher than Li Ye’s and Tong Yinyin’s.

"It was just a trivial matter, nothing for you gentlemen to laugh about. Brother Ye and I have other business to attend to. How about we share a drink with you some other time?"

Tong Yinyin’s hand was already clenched tightly around her Shadow Needle, yet her expression remained pleasant and she spoke in a placid tone.

Although all four were from Jile Valley, they weren’t as strong as Chi Yu. Still, the very fact that they dared to intercept them meant Tong Yinyin couldn’t let her guard down.

"Enough with the damn chatter! Caged Bird, Yin Crow, acting like this... Are you trying to betray our Jile Valley?!"

A massive, bare-chested man holding a heavy hammer boomed. One glance at his body told you he was immensely powerful, so his name in Jile Valley was a simple one: Li Ba.

"We no longer have any interest in worldly affairs. Our only desire is to live in seclusion," Li Ye said with a helpless shake of his head. His right hand, however, had already quietly found the hilt of his sword.

Though no one had spoken any harsh words, Li Ye knew full well there was no running from this fight. Otherwise, why would they have sought out him and Tong Yinyin?

"What an interesting thing to say, Caged Bird. Jile Valley has plenty of members who live in seclusion, never taking a single step outside its borders for their entire lives. What’s more, it snows there all day and it’s practically deserted. Wouldn’t that be an even more suitable place for you to hide away?"

"Or could it be... that the great and vast Jile Valley simply has no place for you two?"

Another man spoke, one with an afro and a chin full of a thick beard. He was dressed in purple, and his voice was somewhat sharp. His name was Du Biao, the one in Jile Valley most interested in women.

"So it seems you have no intention of moving aside."

Li Ye said coolly.

He and Tong Yinyin had come here for a reason. They just never expected to be tracked down by people from Jile Valley. As things stood, this battle was unavoidable.

"Hmph!"

"You are both members of our Jile Valley."

"Do you not know our rules? Do you not know that we despise traitors above all else?! You should know this: throughout history, no one has ever successfully escaped Jile Valley."

"So, you gentlemen are determined to drop all pretenses with Brother Ye and me, right here and now?"

Tong Yinyin said with a slight smile. The moment the words left her mouth, the crow on her hand cawed loudly twice, as if in response.

"Fuck it! After all that back and forth, we’re still gonna fight! Caged Bird, I’ve been wanting to test out that damn Cyan Cloud Swordsmanship of yours for a long time!"

Li Ba roared, his voice booming.

"Hehe, I hear the Yin Crow was once a peerless beauty. Since we were fellow disciples, I couldn’t make a move. But now, I can finally get a good look at that pretty face."

Du Biao said with a smirk.

"Don’t worry, Brother Du. I’ll be sure to let you see my true face right before you die."

Tong Yinyin said gently, but her words were anything but gentle.

"Yinyin, once we start fighting, you need to get away quickly."

Li Ye suddenly said in a low voice.

"You’re joking, Brother Ye. How could I abandon you now?" Tong Yinyin whispered back, her voice barely audible.

Just then,

A flash of red light erupted!

Fortunately, Sha Quanjia reacted in a flash. He immediately spun around and struck out with his palm, but his entire right hand was severed in an instant. Excruciating pain flooded his brain, making him roar:

"Who’s there?! Instead of launching sneak attacks from the shadows, why don’t you show yourself and fight!"

’What an astonishing flying sword...’

Li Ye thought to himself. ’He seems to have gotten even stronger.’

’It’s him!’

Tong Yinyin exclaimed inwardly. She never imagined Su Xing would follow them here; she and Li Ye hadn’t told him where they were going next.

Sure enough, Su Xing appeared in everyone’s line of sight. A crimson short sword floated beside him, with faint beads of blood still clinging to the blade.

"Brother Zhongxing asked me to come to Hang Lake and find you two. I didn’t expect to walk into such a drama."

"Li Dao You, Yinyin, are you two alright?"

Su Xing asked, looking at the two of them.

"Heh, we haven’t come to blows yet, so of course nothing’s wrong."

Tong Yinyin said with a smile.

"It’s been a while."

Li Ye said, looking at Su Xing.

"Su Xing of Cang City, meddling in the affairs of the Cyan Cloud Sect is one thing, but Caged Bird and Yin Crow belong to our Jile Valley. Even your meddling should have its limits!"

Sha Quanjia staunched the blood gushing from his severed arm, glaring at Su Xing with a venomous look as he spoke in a sinister voice.

"I have no desire to fight, either. But since Li Dao You has decided to leave Jile Valley, I hope you will all let them pass."

As he spoke, a faint black light emanated from his right hand, and a heavy Black Sword materialized in his grasp.

"And if we refuse?"

As he said this, Du Biao’s eyes finally moved from Tong Yinyin’s body. He let them rest on Su Xing for a few seconds before returning his gaze to Tong Yinyin with a look of distaste.

"Then you can all die here."

Su Xing stated calmly. With his current strength, never mind one against four; as long as there was no Yuanzhi involved, any number of opponents would be nothing more than cannon fodder to him.

This was the way of a Martial Artist—their Attack and Defense Power were both immense. When it came to the oppressive aura of pure power, no other Extraordinary system could compare.

"..."

The four men were clearly stunned for a moment. They had heard countless times about this being before them, the one who had repelled the Witch Summoner and, with Li Ye and Tong Yinyin’s help, killed Chi Yu.

Though the man before them was absurdly young, his terrifying battle record still made them all hesitate for a moment, seemingly weighing whether they should start a fight here.

"Three."

Su Xing said suddenly.

"What?"

The others didn’t seem to have heard him. They were clearly not prepared for him to speak so suddenly. Or perhaps they had heard him, but didn’t understand what he meant.

"Two."

After a second passed, Su Xing slowly called out the second number, seemingly not affected by the four men at all. One of them, however, appeared to realize Su Xing’s intent and hastily said:

"He’s counting down!"

"Counting down?"

Even though someone had realized it, everything was happening too suddenly. They had never seen a display like this before, so some of them were still utterly bewildered.

"One."

Su Xing slowly announced the number.

At this, the man who had figured it out saw Su Xing’s calm expression and began to feel uneasy. He immediately yelled:

"We need to go! Now!"

"As for these two traitors, we’ll have another chance to deal with them later!"

With that, he immediately tried to leave, a spatial rift already tearing open. But just as he did, he heard Su Xing say something. Before the sound could even reach his ears, the gale from Su Xing’s lunge hit him in the face.

"Zero."

"Sorry. Time’s up."
