Chapter 465 - 271: Highly Poisonous King, the Star Alliance’s Greatest Advantage

"A Divine Corpse..."

Lize was slightly moved.

A Divine Corpse is even rarer than a Divine Spirit.

And to fall into the material world, the odds of that are lower than a True Spirit Wizard dying at the hands of a Level 3 Wizard.

Sunan, however, looked peculiar.

In his memories, the initial outbreak of the wizard civil war seemed to have been triggered by a Divine Corpse.

"Which Divine Spirit has fallen?"

"The Highly Poisonous King!"

Sunan’s heart skipped a beat.

That’s right, it was this one.

The Divine Corpse that triggered the wizard civil war in his memories was indeed the Highly Poisonous King.

But he distinctly remembered that the Highly Poisonous King’s fall was supposed to occur more than three hundred years later, so why now?

Could it be that his arrival caused a disruption in the timeline?

Sunan was filled with uncertainty.

Even though he was still far from reaching the level of a True Spirit Wizard, and theoretically couldn’t affect matters within the realm of truth, sometimes a small insignificant detail can lead to major events, perhaps because he protected the Starlight Continent, which set off a chain reaction, eventually leading to the Highly Poisonous King’s premature fall.

Thinking of this, Sunan couldn’t help but feel a sense of irony.

"Which plane did the Divine Corpse fall into?" Sunan asked.

"Earth Crystal Plane."

Tanner’s face revealed a trace of melancholy.

"The Earth Crystal Plane was originally a barren plane with scarce resources, and the Earth Crystal People living there were a weak race without even Wizard Level strength, but the appearance of the Highly Poisonous King turned all creatures in the plane into highly toxic beings, their power surged, yet they became mindless monsters driven only by the instinct to kill."

"The entire Earth Crystal Plane is now a living hell!"

"After all, it’s an evil-aligned Divine Spirit." Sunan wasn’t surprised in the least.

From the divine name, it’s clear that the Highly Poisonous King’s domain was poison and death, with his Divine Envoys, petitioners, and divine creatures often being undead beings carrying poisons.

Although the Highly Poisonous King had weak divine power, ranking second to last among Divine Spirits, slightly higher than a feeble divine power, he was still a Divine Spirit.

The divine power that dissipated after his death contaminating a small plane is not surprising.

Divine Spirits are notoriously strong contaminating entities!

"Why didn’t the True Spirit Wizard who slew the Highly Poisonous King retrieve the Divine Corpse?" Lize curiously asked.

"That, I’m not too sure about." Tanner hesitated before saying, "I heard that there were some changes during the ambush, and someone was dissatisfied with the original distribution ratio, so after discussions, the True Spirit Wizards decided to have their respective Wizard Influences send people into the Earth Crystal Plane to contest the Divine Corpse among themselves while they stood by and watched."

Sunan’s mouth twitched slightly.

Typical of what True Spirit Wizards love to do.

They hesitate to act due to the risk of death and let their subordinates engage in the fight. Even if some wizards die, they remain unbothered.

The value of a weak divine power’s Divine Corpse far surpasses that of a few low-level wizards.

Tanner glanced at Sunan and continued, "The Wisdom Code is likewise determined to obtain the Highly Poisonous King’s corpse and is likely to soon inform its subsidiary organizations, summoning you to enter the Earth Crystal Plane to search for the Divine Corpse. Lord Sunan, you might want to prepare in advance."

Sunan pondered for a good while before coming to his senses and smiled at Tanner, nodding.

"I understand, thank you for the information."

"You’re welcome, as long as the information is useful to you."

Knowing that Sunan would be busy next, Tanner wisely stood up to take his leave.

Watching Tanner leave, a thoughtful expression flashed in Sunan’s eyes.

All Things City must have shared the information about the Divine Corpse with more than just him; many other Wizard Influences with good relations with All Things City have probably caught wind of it too.

Even so, the favor from All Things City should still be acknowledged.

Knowing some things a few days earlier allows for more preparation.

"What is your plan?" Lize’s voice pulled Sunan back from his thoughts.

Sunan shrugged and said, "We don’t really have a choice; we have to participate."

One of the obligations as a subsidiary organization of the Wisdom Code is to respond to its call to war when needed.

Refusing without a valid reason would result in the termination of the subsidiary relationship by the Wisdom Code.

So, the Star Alliance definitely has to participate this time.

However, Sunan didn’t feel much resistance in his heart.

Honestly speaking, the Divine Corpse doesn’t hold much significance for him, at least not now.

Even with a Divine Corpse in his hands, the most he could do would be to absorb the divine energy contained within it.

Yet he already has enough divine energy as it is.

Other than that, it would only satisfy a curiosity-driven experiment of no substantial use.

To study a Divine Corpse, one must have power as a prerequisite.

A Divine Corpse can only be utilized more effectively by a True Spirit Wizard.

Moreover, with so many Wizard Influences eyeing the Divine Corpse, even if Sunan wanted to compete, he wouldn’t have the strength.

It’s better to seize this opportunity to gain resources from the Wisdom Code and train the troops.

The only plane war the Star Alliance has experienced was against the Wolf Tide Plane; their plane warfare experience is still too limited.

For future considerations, they must train the troops more.

This mission to search for the Divine Corpse will inevitably involve conflicts with other Wizard Influences, providing an excellent opportunity.

Furthermore, since he knows that this Divine Corpse expedition is the genesis of the wizard civil war, he needs to observe it closely, to prepare specifically for what’s to come.
