Chapter 480 - 278: Divine Abomination (Part 2)
It was an enormous head, with a greenish skin, an ugly and fierce appearance, and a bald scalp covered with numerous lumps. The surface of the lumps was stretched thin and round, almost see-through, with a hint of green pus visible inside.
Two sharp tusks protruded from its upper lip, glimmering with a cold, eerie light.
Even though it was already a fallen Divine Spirit’s corpse, and just a head at that, the moment Ronin and Bobben faced it up close, they still felt an indescribable pressure surging towards them.
An intangible will invaded the depths of their Sea of Consciousness, turning into vague prayers and chants that constantly circled, trying to bend their will!
Bobben snorted coldly, mobilizing his Spiritual Power to instantly dispel the will from his mind.
At the same time, Ronin’s eyes only flickered briefly before quickly regaining clarity.
"Even a dead Divine Spirit possesses such formidable power; I can’t imagine how terrifying one alive would be."
Ronin sighed.
Bobben glanced at him sideways, sneering, "It’s just a Divine Spirit. Haven’t enough of them died at the hands of Wizards? One day, I’ll also slay a god with my own hands and bring their corpses back to the lab as materials."
Ronin smiled faintly and said, "That’s quite ambitious. I’ll leave the matter of sealing the head of the Highly Poisonous King to you then."
Bobben pursed his lips, but did not refuse. With a thought, the skin on his shoulder split open, and pale bones emerged, rapidly expanding into a gigantic bone claw, reaching for the Divine Spirit’s head on the ground.
But in that instant, the previously motionless Highly Poisonous King suddenly opened his eyes, the grayish-green pupils coldly fixing on the approaching bone claw.
In the next moment, a thick poisonous mist erupted!
Upon contact with the mist, the bone claw emitted a sizzling sound, as if corroded by strong acid, quickly decomposing and spreading upwards.
Bobben’s expression changed abruptly, decisively severing the bone claw.
"What’s going on?"
Ronin’s expression also changed, his gaze fixed on the toxic fog, eyes glowing with a faint bluish hue. The dense and blurred poisonous mist in his view suddenly became clear, gradually revealing the scene within.
Only to see the head of the Highly Poisonous King melting rapidly like butter met with heat, turning into a disgusting ball of flesh in an instant, and it swiftly expanded to over two meters high.
Rip!
The ball of flesh suddenly split open, and a hideous figure clawed its way out.
"Roar!"
The roar of a prehistoric beast echoed inside the cave, shaking the walls and causing soil and stones to fall.
The creature emerging from the ball of flesh was over two meters tall, appearing as a muscular humanoid with thick, dark green skin, its demonic face resembling a protruding-jawed skull, muscles knotted all over its body, slightly hunched, and both claws sharp as blades.
"A Divinity-infused creature?" Bobben frowned.
"No!" Ronin’s face turned unfathomably grave, "Divinity-infused creatures are created by divinity infection and transformation, they can’t emerge from a Divine Spirit’s corpse!"
Prompted by Ronin’s words, Bobben suddenly thought of something, his face turning terribly unsightly.
"...Divine Abomination?"
"Most likely..."
Divine Abominations were terrifying creatures.
This was common knowledge in the Wizard’s world.
The original source of Divine Abominations was untraceable; some said they were created as living weapons during ancient times in the wars of Divine Spirits, while others believed they stemmed from failed Divine Power experiments.
But through years of research, Wizards only confirmed one method of Divine Abomination creation: the mutation of a dead Divine Spirit’s corpse under specific circumstances, giving birth to a Divine Abomination.
The power of a Divine Abomination created this way depends on the strength of the Divine Spirit as the birthing body, and the integrity of the corpse.
The strong ones can possess power comparable to or even surpassing a Divine Spirit.
The weaker ones have power approaching that of a True Spirit Wizard.
Since Divine Abominations possess intensely radioactive energy, capable of infecting and transforming all weak lifeforms nearby into monsters solely driven by destruction and devastation, the appearance of a Divine Abomination often brings about the collapse and doom of a world or even a dimension.
For such existences, there is a consensus in the multiverse: complete annihilation!
Ronin and Bobben never imagined they’d encounter such an extremely improbable event as the birth of a Divine Abomination here.
"Besides needing a Divine Spirit’s corpse as a body, the birth of a Divine Abomination also requires a massive energy source nearby for absorption!"
Ronin’s gaze swept around.
The implication was clear: there must be some energy source within this cave.
However, the two soon needn’t wonder anymore.
As the Divine Abomination took a step, the cave wall behind it abruptly shattered, revealing a hollow cavity below.
Inside the cavity, a clump of multicolored, dazzling radiance, as if the most brilliant light in the world had gathered together into an orb, floated out of thin air, slowly spinning like a vortex.
A strange wave instantly enveloped the entire cave.
The Energy Particles in the air suddenly became extremely active.
Even without Ronin and Bobben intentionally absorbing the Energy Particles, they could distinctly feel them crazily burrowing into their bodies.
In that moment, a sudden understanding arose in both their minds.
Within just a few breaths’ time, their understanding of the laws, which had stagnated for a long time, abruptly advanced by leaps and bounds!
Realizing this, their faces lit up with a mixture of ecstasy and shock, almost simultaneously blurting out.
"Law source vein!"
"Roar!"
Their exclamation was met with a deafening roar.
Finally snapping out of their euphoria, Ronin and Bobben realized now wasn’t the time for joy.
Seeing the Divine Abomination charging toward them, they locked eyes, simultaneously unleashing their Talent Abilities without hesitation.
Splash!
Suddently, sounds of waves surging resounded in the cave.
Countless sea-blue ripples appeared out of thin air, surging forward like ocean waves.
The moment it collided with the sea-blue ripple, the Divine Abomination seemed to drop into the deep sea, halted by pressure crushing in from all directions.
Taking advantage of this moment, Bobben sharply jabbed his right hand fingers into the palm of his left hand, and after a muffled "puff," a fist-sized wound appeared in his palm.
Immediately after, black-gray liquid gushed crazily from the wound.
Though the wound wasn’t large, it gave the impression of a breached dam, surging torrents rushing out.
Splash!
In an instant, a torrent of black-gray formed, engulfing the Divine Abomination with thundering noise, aiming to swallow and drown it!
This was the Talent Ability ’Ghost Water,’ ranked among the top ten on the Dark Throne.
"Roar!"
The Divine Abomination roared, thick green mist emerging from every pore, swirling around it to form a semi-transparent armor of fog.
The moment the armor formed, its previously sluggish movements regained thunderous speed, charging head-on into the surging Ghost Water!
Infamously erosive and assimilative, the Ghost Water shattering upon collision with the Divine Abomination, scattering in all directions.
Yet the Divine Abomination remained unscathed, except for the thinning fog on its surface.
Witnessing this scene, Ronin and Bo Wen were both terribly alarmed.
Though they had read about Divine Abominations, real contact showed just how terrifying these creatures, despised and feared by countless races, truly were!
Below a True Spirit Wizard, none could contend with this Divine Abomination!
Sharing a glance, both turned and fled from the cave without a second thought.
Outside, the Wizards, sensing something amiss upon hearing roars, hesitated about entering, only to see Ronin and Bo Wen bolt out like arrows, looking unusually flustered.
"Move quickly!"
"Get out of here!"
Ronin and Bobben simultaneously ordered their fellows from the Deep Blue Alliance and Dark Throne to retreat.
Though confused, the members of the two Wizard Influences complied and left immediately.
Other Wizards, briefly stunned, then watched a hideous figure burst from the cave.
The next instant, a raging wave of thick green poisonous fog surged forth, engulfing everything around.
