System Glitch! I Accidentally Saved The Zombie Emperor
Chapter 114: Ancient Vegetable (1)
The doctor let out a sigh of helplessness, then continued, "We tested all the medicines and mental inhibitors that had been administered to Commander Huo from the time he was brought into the isolation room until his mental energy breakdown."
"However, none of them had the effect of lowering his pollution level like this."
He paused for a second, then added, "Our team suspects that the mental energy explosion that happened after Commander Huo’s mental energy breakdown might be the cause."
Fu Geyin listened to the doctor’s explanation, then looked at Huo Jiyang, who was lying on the bed in deep sleep.
After a moment of silence, he stood up, straightened his suit, then said, "Very well. I will report this matter to Her Majesty the Empress. Remember to report to me as soon as you find out the reason behind Commander Huo’s decreasing pollution level."
The chief doctor smiled politely, then replied, "Yes, Your Grace."
After leaving the isolation room, Fu Geyin saw Bai Yi approaching. He smiled politely and greeted him, "Captain Bai."
Bai Yi nodded, then politely responded, "Duke Fu."
Fu Geyin glanced at the soldier standing behind Bai Yi, then said, "Captain Bai, I heard that you are the one who saved Commander Huo yesterday."
He paused for a second, smiled, then added, "Thanks to your heroic deeds, you managed to keep our strongest sentinel alive. The Royal Family and the Interstellar Military Union will reward you handsomely for this."
Bai Yi looked at him in silence for two seconds, then replied, "Duke Fu is overpraising me. I only did what I should do."
Seeing that Fu Geyin was about to speak, Bai Yi added, "My apologies, Duke Fu. I still need to visit Commander Huo. I will take my leave first."
Without waiting for Fu Geyin’s response, Bai Yi walked past him and entered the isolation room, followed by the soldier.
Fu Geyin thoughtfully looked at the closed door, then ordered, "Send our people to keep an eye on Bai Yi and Huo Jiyang."
Standing two steps behind him, his assistant lowered his head and replied, "Yes, Your Grace."
After a long moment of silence, Fu Geyin looked away from the closed door, then walked down the long corridor.
While Fu Geyin and the Royal Family were making their plans, inside the isolation room, Bai Yi had received the chief doctor’s report.
Gesturing for the doctors to leave the room, he said, "You may all return to your tasks. I will stay here with Commander Huo for a while."
"Yes, Captain Bai."
After sending the doctors away, Bai Yi looked at the soldier and ordered, "Go and guard the door."
Saluting him, the soldier responded, "Yes, Captain Bai."
After the door closed behind the soldier, Bai Yi turned to look at Huo Jiyang and said, "Commander Huo, they are all gone."
Lying on the bed, Huo Jiyang slowly opened his eyes. Seeing that Bai Yi was standing beside the bed, he said in a hoarse voice, "Captain Bai, please have a seat."
Bai Yi dragged a chair to the bedside, then sat down. He then poured a glass of water and handed it to Huo Jiyang.
Sitting up in bed, Huo Jiyang took the glass and drank the water in a few mouthfuls. After moistening his throat, he handed the empty glass back to Bai Yi.
While Bai Yi placed the empty glass on the bedside table, Huo Jiyang said, "I heard that my mental energy exploded yesterday."
Bai Yi nodded. "Yes."
Looking down at his hands, Huo Jiyang slowly asked, "Did a lot of people die?"
Bai Yi shook his head. "No casualties, only two heavily injured sentinels and twenty lightly injured sentinels. As for the patients, doctors, and medical staff, most of them were injured when the treatment center collapsed."
Listening to his report, Huo Jiyang fell into silence. After a brief moment of silence, he raised his eyes to look at Bai Yi and slowly asked, "How could I survive the mental energy breakdown?"
Staring at him, Bai Yi calmly replied, "Commander Huo, what I’m going to tell you should be kept secret for now."
Looking at Bai Yi’s serious expression, Huo Jiyang’s expression turned serious as well. After two seconds of silence, he asked, "Have you successfully completed the special mission?"
"Yes," Bai Yi replied.
Hearing this, hope flashed across Huo Jiyang’s eyes. He lowered his voice and said, "Tell me the details."
Instead of reporting to Huo Jiyang, Bai Yi stood up, then activated the sound barrier in the isolation room.
Watching Bai Yi’s cautious behavior, Huo Jiyang’s eyes flickered as he thought, ’Looks like Bai Yi also suspects those sitting up there.’
Sitting back in his chair, Bai Yi looked at Huo Jiyang’s thoughtful expression. "Commander Huo, I did find something that could lower the pollution level. However, it’s not a medicine or any kind of medicinal herb."
When Huo Jiyang heard this, he frowned slightly.
"Captain Bai, the Interstellar Union has been searching for this miracle medicine for thousands of years, and you are telling me now that this thing isn’t even a medicine or a medicinal herb?"
Bai Yi nodded in response to his question.
Seeing this, Huo Jiyang then asked with a hint of curiosity in his voice, "Then, what is it?"
"Commander Huo, have you heard of a vegetable called a carrot?" Bai Yi asked in return.
As the Great Commander of the First Military Fleet of the Interstellar Union and the head of the Ancient Huo Clan, Huo Jiyang possessed more knowledge than Bai Yi and most other people.
When he heard Bai Yi mention carrots, he raised his eyebrows slightly.
"I do know about carrots. They were a vegetable that originated from the ancient civilization and could only grow on our Mother Planet. Unfortunately, our Mother Planet had long been destroyed by war and pollution. Right now, there is no way to grow carrots with our current technology."
He paused for a second, then asked probingly, "Captain Bai, why do you ask about this?"
