Meanwhile, inside the largest military tent, Liu Yun sat idly in her chair. She had already drunk half a glass of water, yet the soldier still hadn’t returned.

Glancing at her watch, she thought, ’It has been more than fifty minutes. Why is it taking so long to test a carrot?’

Sitting across from her, the captain noticed her bored expression. After thinking for a moment, he reassured her, "The test results should be ready by now. Please wait a little longer."

Liu Yun responded with a faint smile but said nothing.

They waited for another ten minutes before the tent flap was finally lifted.

Turning toward the entrance, the captain and Liu Yun saw the soldier returning with the metal box and a sheet of paper in his hands.

The soldier walked up to the captain and handed him the test results. "Captain, these are the test results."

The captain took the test results and began reading. A few seconds later, his eyes widened in shock. He raised his head and looked at the soldier.

Meeting his captain’s shocked gaze, the soldier nodded.

On his way back to the main square, the soldier recalled the young scientist’s words and read the test results himself. He had reacted exactly the same way as his captain.

Seeing his usually composed and level-headed captain so shocked that he was momentarily speechless, the soldier couldn’t help thinking, ’I wonder if the Great Commander will have the same expression when he receives the scientists’ report. It’s a shame I won’t get to see it myself.’

While the soldier was busy imagining the Great Commander’s reaction, the captain finally recovered from his shock. Swallowing hard, he read the test results several more times.

Sitting across from him, Liu Yun waited for the captain to say something. Clenching her fists beneath the table, she anxiously called out to the System.

’Hey, System, come out for a moment.’

In response to her call, the System’s mechanical voice rang out in her mind. [Player, do you need something?]

Sneaking a glance at the captain, Liu Yun asked, ’System, take a look at the captain’s face.’

Inside her sea of consciousness, the ball of light turned toward the large virtual blue screen displaying Liu Yun’s surroundings.

[I see him. Do you need this System to do something to him?]

Hearing this, Liu Yun hurriedly replied, ’No, no, no! Don’t do anything reckless!’

Puzzled by her request, the System asked again, [Since the Player doesn’t need this System’s help, why did you ask this System to look at the captain?]

Caught off guard by the question, Liu Yun quickly explained, ’I didn’t call you out to do anything to him. I just want to ask you something.’

[Oh. Then go ahead.]

Listening to the System’s flat, mechanical voice, Liu Yun paused. For some reason, she had a feeling that the System wasn’t particularly interested in whatever she was about to ask.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Liu Yun asked, ’System, are you sure the vegetables I harvest from the Multiverse Farmland won’t cause me any trouble?’

[Why do you think so, Player?]

Liu Yun discreetly gestured toward the captain and explained, ’Look at his expression! There must be something extraordinary about the Basic Carrot. Otherwise, why would he look as though he had been struck by lightning?’

After listening to her explanation, the System replied, [This System is certain that the Basic Carrot is safe to consume. As for the captain’s reaction, this System has no control over it.]

Hearing this answer, Liu Yun sighed helplessly. ’Fine. I guess we will have to wait for the captain to tell us the results.’

While Liu Yun was talking to the System, the captain finally finished reading the test report for the sixth time. Setting the report on the table, he looked at Liu Yun.

After a moment of thought, he pushed it toward Liu Yun and asked, "Young lady, would you like to see the test results?"

Liu Yun had been waiting to read the results ever since the soldier returned to the tent. The moment she heard the question, she picked up the report and began reading without hesitation.

A few seconds later, disappointment flashed across her face.

Mutated Carrot: Safe for consumption. Contains a small amount of energy capable of purifying the X Virus, strengthening the human body, and enhancing abilities.

’Oh, isn’t this what we already knew? What’s so shocking about these effects?’

Hearing her questions, the System kindly reminded her, [Player, there is currently no cure or vaccine for the X Virus in this world.]

The moment the System’s mechanical voice rang out in her mind, Liu Yun froze in her seat. She blinked twice as she stared at the test results.

"..." Thank you for the reminder. I really did forget about that.

The System sighed inwardly and thought, ’I know you are unreliable and a little bit stupid, but I never realized you were this forgetful. Can I please get a different Player?’

Oblivious to the System’s thoughts, Liu Yun coughed lightly to clear her throat. Placing the test report back on the table, she looked at the captain.

"Ahem. Since the test results confirm that the carrots are safe to eat, can we negotiate the price now?"

The captain wasn’t surprised by Liu Yun’s calm reaction.

’I knew it. She must already know about the effects of these mutated carrots. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have brought one here for testing. I’m afraid this negotiation won’t be easy.’

With that thought in mind, the captain said, "Young lady, I assume you already know that you can exchange supplies for other supplies or contribution points. Since you have come here to trade today, could you tell me what you’d like? Contribution points or supplies?"

Rubbing her chin, Liu Yun thought, ’Eating instant food all the time isn’t healthy. I’ve already started having stomachaches today. Although I can grow wheat or rice myself, I will need a good excuse if I want to take them out in the future.’

Looking at the captain, she curled her lips into a slight smile. "Sir, I’d like rice or other staple foods."
