Chapter 75: Reinforcements

Before Lian Tianci could react, another soldier also shouted, "I also ran out of bullets!"

Lian Tianci glanced at his subordinates and saw that most of them had switched to close combat.

While he was thinking of a solution, a zombie successfully climbed onto the roof, then rushed toward him with its mouth wide open.

"Roar!"

In an instant, the pungent smell of rotten meat mixed with blood rushed toward Lian Tianci. Out of instinct, he ducked down, then used his shoulder to throw the zombie over his head.

Thud!

Falling hard onto the roof, the zombie let out an angry roar as it tried to get up.

"Roar!"

Before the zombie could turn its head, Lian Tianci rushed over and stabbed the back of its head with his military dagger.

Stab!

Noticing that the zombie was still alive, murderous intent flashed across Lian Tianci’s eyes. Clenching his jaw, he used more force and drove the military dagger deeper into the zombie’s brain.

Splash!

As thick, black blood mixed with brain matter splashed onto his hands, Lian Tianci suddenly felt something.

Thud.

He blinked, then tilted his military dagger slightly. Sensing something hard inside the zombie’s brain, he frowned slightly. With a slight movement, he dug the hard object out of the zombie’s head with a flick of his hand.

The hard object flew out, then fell before Lian Tianci could see it clearly.

Ding! Ding~! Ding...!

Hearing the crisp sounds of something falling onto the rooftop, Lian Tianci looked down. When he saw a transparent crystal covered in zombie brain matter fall near his military boots, he quickly squatted down and picked it up.

Without examining the crystal, Lian Tianci shoved it into his pocket, then continued fighting the zombies.

Ten minutes later, Lian Tianci and the soldiers had used up their last bullets.

Looking at the zombies gathered below, one of the soldiers clenched his military dagger so tightly that his fingers turned white. Two seconds later, he made his decision.

Turning to Lian Tianci, he shouted, "Captain, I will lure them away! You guys run to the entrance as soon as possible! Don’t look back!"

Before Lian Tianci and the other soldiers could react, the soldier turned around and then jumped down from the rooftop.

Lian Tianci’s pupils contracted as he rushed toward the soldier. Unfortunately, his fingers only touched the hem of the soldier’s clothes before the soldier fell into the zombie horde below.

Watching one of his comrades disappear into the sea of zombies below, he let out a heart-breaking shout, "No!"

Just when Lian Tianci thought he was going to lose another comrade, a green vine as thick as an adult’s arm suddenly shot into the horde of zombies below.

Swish~! Swish~! Swish~!

Surrounded by the zombies, the soldier suddenly felt something hard wrap around his waist. Before he had time to look down, he felt a strong pulling force. A second later, he was sent flying back into the air.

Floating in the air, the soldier widened his eyes as he looked at the hungry zombies below.

’Wh—what is happening? Have I gained the ability to fly?’

While he was still doubting what was happening, the thick vine suddenly retracted. Startled by the sudden pulling force, the soldier couldn’t help but scream, "Ah!"

On the rooftop, Lian Tianci looked at what was happening below in shock.

Coming back to his senses, his gaze quickly followed the thick green vine. When he saw that the end of the vine actually came from a man’s palms, Lian Tianci’s worried heart finally relaxed slightly.

Half-kneeling on the roof of an armored car, the man said, "Captain, I’ve got him!"

Sitting in the passenger seat, Ruan Weisong threw three more lightning balls at the zombies surrounding the armored car through the car windows.

Bzztt~!

Whoosh~! Whoosh~! Whoosh~!

The small lightning balls shot through the air, burning anything that blocked their path. When the lightning balls hit the zombies, they exploded instantly.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

With every explosion, a large group of zombies was burned to charcoal.

Sitting behind the steering wheel, Yin Kaiming saw the opening in front of him. His eyes flickered as he pressed down on the accelerator.

"Hold on tight!"

Bam! Bam! Bam!

As the armored car sped toward the two-story warehouse, Yin Kaiming crashed into the zombies rushing toward them without changing his expression.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Hit by the armored car, the zombies were sent flying before landing on other zombies, knocking them down like dominoes.

On the warehouse’s rooftop, Lian Tianci recognized the Chi Wen Team’s armored cars.

"Captain Ruan is coming! Brothers, hold on!" Lian Tianci encouraged his comrades as he killed another group of zombies.

Hearing this, the soldiers’ fighting spirit soared and hope reignited in their hearts. Clenching their military daggers tighter, they shouted in unison, "Yes, Captain!"

As the soldiers regained their fighting spirit, their combat power exploded. In less than two minutes, the situation had turned around.

While Lian Tianci and his team killed more and more zombies, the corpses below also piled higher and higher.

Looking down, one of the soldiers shouted, "Captain, they use the corpses as ladders!"

The second his words fell, Lian Tianci’s heart sank.

Fighting beside him, another soldier cursed. "Grass! Do these zombies grow brains now?! How could they suddenly become smarter than before?!"

Amidst the soldier’s cursing, Lian Tianci’s fingers tightened around his military dagger’s hilt as he stabbed into another zombie’s head.

Kicking the dead zombie down, he shouted, "Concentrate!"

At his words, the soldiers stopped talking and put all their attention back on the zombies.

Meanwhile, inside one of the approaching armored cars, Ruan Weisong was observing the situation on the rooftop and the zombies’ movements. Seeing the stack of corpses on the warehouse’s wall and the climbing zombies, his eyes darkened.

Knowing that Lian Tianci and his team couldn’t stay on the rooftop any longer, Ruan Weisong pressed the mini communication device in his right ear.

"Drivers, form a barricade between the zombies and the warehouse! Wood-element ability users, create a bridge toward the rooftop!"
