System Glitch! I Accidentally Saved The Zombie Emperor
Chapter 82: The Strongest Sentinel
Lying on the bed, the man in patient clothes was screaming and struggling against the people pinning him to the bed.
One of the soldiers was hit in the head by the man and urgently shouted, "Doctor, hurry up!"
While they were trying their best to administer the mental inhibitor to the patient, the man in the blue uniform looked at the machines connected to the patient’s body in horror.
Seeing the number continue to rise, he swallowed hard. "Doctor! Commander Huo’s pollution level has reached 98%!"
Just as his words fell, the data turned red. In an instant, the machines let out warning sounds at the same time.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
Pinned down by a group of soldiers, Huo Jiyang was on the brink of madness.
He felt as though his body were being burned by a roaring fire and his mind were being pressed down by a dark, heavy fog. The pain mixed with his chaotic energy made him want to end his own life.
"Argh!" ’Let me die! I don’t want to become a monster!’
Glancing at the data displayed on the machine, the doctor gritted his teeth and forcefully injected the mental inhibitor into Huo Jiyang’s blood vessel.
Seeing that he was about to bite his own tongue, one of the soldiers hurriedly grabbed a bottle placed on the bedside table and stuffed it into Huo Jiyang’s mouth.
Crack!
The doctor’s eyes widened when he saw Huo Jiyang’s bite create a crack in the metal bottle. Coming back to his senses, he announced, "The mental inhibitor has been injected!"
When the others heard this, they all turned to look at the machine’s screen. Seeing that the number hadn’t decreased, they panicked.
"It’s useless!" said one of the soldiers.
Realizing that Huo Jiyang’s body had developed a resistance to the mental inhibitor, the doctor’s face turned pale.
Stumbling back a few steps, he muttered in despair, "It’s over. Commander Huo’s body has developed a resistance to the mental inhibitor. The mental inhibitor is useless for him now!"
The moment his words fell, everyone froze in their places. Except for the machines’ warning sounds and Huo Jiyang’s painful screams, nobody made a sound.
Just when everyone was in despair, the door slid open, and a soldier in a black uniform rushed in.
Seeing Huo Jiyang screaming as he was pinned to the bed by his comrades, the soldier turned to the doctor and urgently asked, "Doctor, how is Commander Huo’s condition now?"
Hearing the question, the doctor came back to his senses. Turning to look at the soldier, he shook his head and replied in despair, "Commander Huo’s pollution level has reached 98% and is still increasing."
Shocked by how serious Huo Jiyang’s condition was, the soldier asked, "What about the mental inhibitor? Can’t you give some to Commander Huo?"
The doctor shook his head again. "It’s useless. Commander Huo has developed a resistance to the mental inhibitor."
Grabbing the doctor’s shoulder, the soldier pleaded, "Is there really nothing we can do to save Commander Huo?"
The doctor looked at the soldier’s teary eyes and felt his own eyes grow hot. He knew how important Huo Jiyang was to the Interstellar Military Union, and he had already done his best to save Huo Jiyang.
Unfortunately, nothing worked.
Holding back his tears, the doctor said in a choked voice, "Unless we can find an SSS+-ranked Guide to release the pollution trapped inside Commander Huo’s sea of consciousness, all we can do is send him to the Sentinel Resting Ground."
Hearing this, the soldier’s heart finally turned cold as he let go of the doctor’s shoulder.
The strongest Guide in the Interstellar Union was the Third Royal Princess, who was only an S-ranked Guide. To find an SSS+-ranked Guide was like dreaming in daylight.
While they were talking, the number displayed on the machine continued to increase.
The nurse who was monitoring the data felt his scalp tingle when he saw the 98% turn into 99%.
"Doctor! Commander Huo’s pollution level has increased to 99%!"
Before the doctor and soldiers could react, Huo Jiyang’s energy suddenly exploded.
Boom!
"Ah!"
Blown away by his mental energy explosion, the doctor, the nurse, and the soldiers were sent flying, while the isolation room was reduced to ruins.
Lying on the ground among the scattered ruins, one of the soldiers coughed up a mouthful of blood.
"Cough!"
Breathing heavily, he felt as though his internal organs had ruptured and his bones had shattered. Raising his head, the soldier saw Huo Jiyang standing in the center of the explosion.
The second he saw the black lines covering Huo Jiyang’s skin, fear and despair flashed across the soldier’s eyes.
Looking at his Great Commander, the soldier reached out his hand and weakly said, "Commander, please wake up... Don’t let the pollution corrupt your mind..."
Unfortunately, his words failed to reach Huo Jiyang’s ears. At this moment, Huo Jiyang’s consciousness was trapped by the pollution and surrounded by heavy darkness.
Meanwhile, Bai Yi finally reached the First Military Fleet Headquarters. Just as he was about to park his spaceship in the parking lot, he heard the explosion.
Boom!
Turning toward the direction of the explosion, Bai Yi’s heart skipped a beat.
Realizing that the source of the explosion was coming from the treatment center located two kilometers away from the First Military Fleet Headquarters, his pupils shrank.
’Not good! It’s Commander Huo!’
Without wasting another second, Bai Yi quickly parked the spaceship. The second the spaceship landed on the ground, he rushed out of the cockpit and ran toward the treatment center.
As a sentinel, Bai Yi possessed extraordinary physical strength, mental power, and special abilities compared to ordinary people or the Guides.
With how fast he ran, it took him less than one minute to reach the treatment center. When he arrived, Bai Yi was stunned by the scene before him.
The treatment center had been reduced to ruins. Medical staff were helping patients evacuate from the destroyed building, while soldiers were surrounding a man in patient clothes.
Frozen in place, Bai Yi was accidentally bumped by a doctor.
