TALENT STEALING MAGE
Chapter 46: She is the closest to me
The man opened the door fully and allowed Leon in.
"You made it," he said and stepped to the side, giving Leon the space to come in.
Leon stepped in and was already scanning the room, two ladies and three men. Each of them strategically placed around the room.
The man locked the door.
"That being said," he muttered and suddenly pulled his sword. He crossed the distance in a flash, sword going for Leon’s neck.
Leon moved fast. He completed the spell that he had semi-cast and a massive cold fog exploded out and covered the entire room in seconds, blocking the view of everyone.
"Watch out, he could be anywhere," the man yelled.
’Tch. Should have known it would not be that easy,’ Leon thought as he moved through the room. He was no longer using his normal eyes but rather using his energy eyes and seeing where each of them were standing at the very moment.
He pulled his wand, spun around and unleashed a stream of flames. It twisted through the air and headed for the man that attacked first. He saw the flames at the last moment and reacted fast. He used his sword to block the attack. It slammed hard into him and threw him back.
At the same time, one of the women moved. She grabbed a staff that was right next to her, she raised it up while muttering her spell, she drove the staff down into the ground and created a shockwave of air that slammed into the fog and pushed it back, wanting to clear things up.
She waited for Leon to show as she cleared the fog, but she did not see him at all, only for a shadow to show from above. She looked up and saw Leon in the air, sword in hand rather than wand. He slashed with both hands. Her eyes widened, she pointed her staff up and created a dome of ice as fast as possible, but his sword shattered it.
She was thrown back by the force.
"Get the hell away from her!" One of the men roared. He was the largest amongst them and wielded a massive axe. He dashed, swinging the axe with all his might.
Leon watched the attack and ducked. The axe went over his head and slammed into the ground, the ground shattered and exploded in all directions.
Leon pushed himself up and tried to get back up, but the last man used that opportunity to attack. He had two mechanical gauntlets on his arms, he rushed ahead and each hand exploded with powerful flames.
He launched a punch the moment he got into range and Leon could not block the attack in time. He was thrown back hard, he slammed against the wall, knocking the wind out of his lungs. He slid down and collapsed to his knees while all five got ready to attack.
The last lady wielded a scythe and she had not attacked yet due to the nature of her weapon. She moved only when she saw a kill strike that would ensure that they won, she moved like a shadow. Her scythe covered in darkness, a darkness that tried to swallow the light inside the room.
Leon coughed one time, he looked up with his peripheral vision.
"You lot really coming this hard against a kid?" he said before pressing both hands on the ground and a powerful jet of flames shot out and pushed him into the air. Their eyes all followed him as he moved.
Leon smiled from ear to ear, he held no weapon in his hand nor any wand. He had left both on the ground as a means to confuse them and it worked as they all looked down and up at him.
Leon’s fist exploded with flames, the same flames the last man had used. The lady with the scythe was stunned, but she still attacked. She slashed, the darkness covering everything in Leon’s sight and ending Leon was not able to dodge.
Right there in the air, Leon propelled himself with the flames and flipped over the attack. He landed behind her and then shot forward. The shock showed on her face as his fist traveled toward her, she was unable to do anything to block.
The first man gritted his teeth and charged in, hoping that his speed would somehow be enough to stop Leon from landing that attack, but he was not.
The fist drew close and stopped right next to her face. A massive wave of heat exploded from his fist across her face.
She froze, seeing that fist right in front of her.
"Why are you five attacking me? I only came to gather information," Leon said.
No one moved at all. They watched him closely to ensure he did not make another move.
"You want us to believe that some kid came after the pillar nearly destroyed our city. Coming to find one of the worst beings that could come from the pillar?" the man asked.
"She is not from the pillar!" Leon snapped, his voice shaking.
The man froze. He realized something that he should have realized at the first meeting.
"You know that monster?" he asked.
Leon looked at him.
"I do, and she is important to me. I have to save her," Leon said. He stepped back from the lady, stopped the flames and dropped his hands.
"I need to save her. She is no monster, she is my friend. She is more than a friend, she is the closest person to me alive," he explained, his voice shaking toward the end.
"That pillar, it did something to her and I have to stop it before someone kills her or before she kills more people," he said and then looked up at the man.
"I know what you see when you see her is a monster and something savage, but what I see is my friend trapped in her own body, and no one is willing to save her."
