Tempting Him to Lose Control
Chapter 171: Getting Them Drunk and Showing Them a Good Time
Chapter 171: Chapter 171: Getting Them Drunk and Showing Them a Good Time
Caden Monroe’s face was ashen, his eyes churning with fury.
He’d spent so much effort, so much money, meticulously caring for that consecrated money tree day and night, and it died the moment it arrived at Warren Pharma?
His secretary, Vera Sloan, steadied herself against the corner of the desk. A flash of disgusted annoyance crossed her eyes before she quickly suppressed it, replacing it with a look of hurt and worry.
"Caden, Mrs. Warren was the only one who came by just now. She’s the one who did it."
Vera Sloan hesitated, then continued, "Miles Warren must have put her up to it. You embarrassed him in the lobby this morning, and now he’s trying to put you in your place."
"Using a tree to slap us in the face... This Mr. Warren... the quiet ones are always the most vicious."
Hearing her words, Caden Monroe’s chest heaved more violently, and his fists clenched so tightly they cracked.
He walked to the door and stared at the money tree with its collapsed roots for a long moment before forcing a few words through his clenched teeth.
"Good. Just great."
He spun around, strode back behind his desk, and made a call, booking the top-floor private suite at The Imperial Hotel.
Then he looked at Vera Sloan. "Bring that shareholder, Zane, and invite Miles Warren. Tell him I’m treating him to dinner to apologize."
Vera Sloan nodded. "I’ll get right on it."
The moment she left the office, the fawning, sweet expression on Vera’s face vanished. She sent a text message.
That idiot Caden took the bait. He’s already making his move.
「President’s Office.」
Claire Kendall finally managed to struggle out of Miles Warren’s arms.
The man’s voice was a little muffled. "Are you really leaving?"
Claire Kendall turned to look at him, biting her lips, which were a little sore from his kisses, with a hint of playful anger.
"What do you think?" She raised an eyebrow, a wicked glint in her eye. "If I don’t leave, is Mr. Warren planning on having a go at it with me right here in the office?"
’She thought her crass remark would be enough to choke up this pure, unattainable flower.’
Miles Warren’s voice lilted upwards as a faint blush spread from his ears to his neck.
"Mm, if that’s what you want, we can."
Claire was speechless. ’Welp, I’ve completely lost control of him.’
Leaving the Warren Pharma building, she headed straight for OCHH.
The studio was in perfect order. Lindsay Joyce had been discharged from the hospital and had returned to work early to deal with the backlog.
The she-devil was back online, and the OCHH employees were groaning in misery. No one dared to slack off.
When Claire Kendall walked in, Lindsay didn’t even look up, simply pulling out a stack of documents.
"Final data calibration for Urban Traveler. You confirm it. The brand ambassador is ready to come on board."
Claire Kendall checked it carefully from top to bottom. "No problems here."
Lindsay Joyce pushed over another stack of design sketches. "Then get ready for next month’s haute couture collection."
Claire Kendall’s refusal was swift and decisive. "I don’t have time lately."
She slammed her hand on the table, filled with righteous indignation. "I went to Warren Pharma today, and Miles Warren is being bullied constantly at the company!"
"Some Mr. Monroe was parachuted into the company, and he’s always trying to trip him up, ganging up on him with a bunch of old shareholders!"
Claire Kendall was both furious and heartbroken. "Miles Warren has only ever performed surgeries in a hospital! How would he know anything about all the backstabbing and intrigue of the business world? I have to help him!"
Lindsay Joyce raised a hand, cutting her off.
"Stop, stop, stop. Are you saying Miles Warren doesn’t know how to do business? That he’s a pushover?"
’What a joke.’
’The first time she saw Miles Warren, she had a feeling he wasn’t just a simple doctor. That ruthless, decisive aura he had couldn’t have been cultivated in a hospital.’
’Claire had most likely been fooled by him again.’
Lindsay Joyce seemed to remember something. "This Mr. Monroe you’re talking about, is it Caden Monroe?"
"Lindsay, how did you know?"
Lindsay Joyce took out her phone and aimed the screen at her. "What a coincidence. The top-floor private suite at The Imperial Hotel. He booked it for tonight."
The Imperial was a hotel Lindsay Joyce had acquired after getting out of the hospital. The top floor was expensive, and only the rich and powerful could book it.
The lobby manager was worried about any issues, so whenever someone booked it, a notification would appear on the app of the person in charge.
Claire Kendall leaned in to look at the screen. It really was him.
"Lindsay, can you put in a word with the supervisor for me? I’ll disguise myself as a waitress and sneak in. I want to see what this Caden Monroe is plotting."
"Alright, but be careful. Should you tell Miles Warren?"
Claire Kendall refused without hesitation. "No need. If I tell him, I won’t be able to go."
「The Imperial Hotel.」
Claire Kendall stared, stunned, at the waitress uniform the supervisor handed her.
It was a black lace, hip-hugging skirt, its hem barely covering the tops of her thighs. The neckline was ridiculously low, and the back was completely open, held together only by a few crisscrossing straps.
"Are you sure this is a waitress uniform?"
The supervisor’s expression didn’t change. "This is a special feature of the top-floor business suites. The guest who booked the room specifically requested it."
"Ms. Joyce already spoke with us. She said you needed to blend in, so this is our only option..."
Claire Kendall glared at the skirt for a long time before reluctantly putting on a small camisole underneath.
She couldn’t bring her phone in, so she tucked a mini recording pen into the lining of her camisole to preserve evidence.
After putting on a fox-style mask and being led by the supervisor, Claire Kendall entered the top-floor suite carrying a tray.
Caden Monroe sat in the host’s seat at the exquisite, high-end dining table.
Vera Sloan was pressed up against him, pouring his wine. Under the table, Caden Monroe gave Vera’s thigh a squeeze.
’Claire could see it clearly; their relationship was definitely not a normal one.’
The fox mask covered most of Claire Kendall’s face, revealing only her lips and chin.
She stood quietly in a corner, trying not to draw any attention.
Zane, the shareholder who had been kicked out by Miles Warren that morning, took a sip of wine, his tone sinister.
"Mr. Monroe, is that brat Miles Warren really going to show up?"
Caden Monroe held his wine glass and sneered.
"I already told you, I’m apologizing to him. How could he not come? He has to keep up appearances."
Claire Kendall lowered her eyes, her fingers tightening around the tray.
’It seemed this was a treacherous banquet.’
Zane was thrilled. He lowered his voice. "Then let’s go with the plan. The model I brought is famous in the scene for being gorgeous and knowing a lot of tricks."
Caden Monroe nodded and said slowly.
"Don’t be hasty. When he gets here, we’ll get him drunk first."
"He acts all aloof and righteous during the day, but there’s no man on earth who isn’t a lecher."
Zane snapped his fingers toward the door.
The door to the suite swung open, and a tall, stunning figure swayed inside.
The woman wore a scorching hot spaghetti-strap minidress. Her makeup was seductive, and every move she made was filled with a deliberately trained coquettishness, exuding immense charm.
She was a well-known model in the scene, a courtesan who specialized in handling these kinds of high-end dinner parties.
As soon as the woman entered, she expertly sat down at the table, her eyes alluring as she began to flirt.
Zane slapped the model on the butt. "When he gets here, you make sure to serve him well. Use all your special skills, and you’ll be well-rewarded."
"Get him drunk, and make sure he has a good time. Got it?"
The model covered her mouth with her hand and giggled, her voice teasing.
"Don’t worry, I know how to handle things. But I am a little curious... what’s this Mr. Warren like?"
"I hope he’s not just some useless pretty boy. If he’s got no stamina and no skills, won’t I be the one getting the short end of the stick tonight?"
