Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Even If It’s Broken, No One Will Come Looking

The model’s risqué joke sent the room into roaring laughter.

Vera Sloan raised an eyebrow. "Don’t worry, little sister. If Miles Warren can’t... perform, I’ll add another hundred thousand for you."

Caden Monroe put down his glass, his expression turning serious. "Alright, that’s enough. When he gets here, you go serve him directly."

"I’ve placed a hidden camera in this suite. Once you’ve created an irreversible situation, I’ll have the media burst in."

His tone grew more smug and vicious as he spoke.

"I’d love to see how he can possibly hold onto his position as CEO of Warren Pharma with a messy private life and a corrupt reputation."

Vera Sloan poured Caden Monroe another glass of wine, her voice syrupy sweet.

"Caden, you’re just brilliant. Then you can just sweep in and take full control of Warren Pharma."

Behind her mask, Claire Kendall’s eyes turned icy.

’What a disgusting, vile bunch.’

’I have to find a way to get out of this suite, get my phone, and warn Miles Warren not to come.’

Claire Kendall took two steps back and deliberately tripped on the rug.

A sudden, sharp sound. "CRASH—"

"I’m so sorry, my apologies." Claire Kendall quickly knelt, backing away as she gathered the pieces. "I’ll go get new glasses."

Caden Monroe glanced over casually.

As the woman crouched down, the hem of her form-fitting skirt rode up, revealing the slim line of her waist against the taut fabric of her back.

The man’s fingers rubbed his wine glass forcefully a few times.

’A mere waitress, but what a body. A real stunner.’

’Too bad. In this situation, the bigger picture has to come first.’

Vera Sloan noticed Caden Monroe’s interest in a mere waitress and was immediately displeased.

’Even though I can’t stand the old bastard, my pride feels challenged. Is a waitress more captivating than me?’

Vera Sloan strode directly toward Claire Kendall, her high heel landing right beside her hand. Her tone was sharp.

"What is wrong with you? So clumsy. Do you have any idea what it costs to replace things from the penthouse suite? Can you afford it?"

Claire Kendall kept her head down. "I’ll clean it up right away."

She wanted to leave immediately, but Vera Sloan grabbed her by the wrist.

"Wait. You look... kind of familiar."

Claire Kendall’s heart clenched, but she remained calm on the surface.

"I’m new here. I haven’t seen you before."

Vera Sloan wasn’t letting it go. She felt something was off. When she’d grabbed her, she noticed the woman’s skin was incredibly smooth, like a pampered young lady from a wealthy family, not a waitress.

Her gaze was sharp and sinister as she tried to peer down Claire Kendall’s uniform.

"You’re wearing something underneath? What are you hiding under your uniform!"

Claire Kendall shrank back, but Vera Sloan’s hand had already grabbed the strap of her camisole and was yanking it outward.

Hidden inside her camisole was the crucial recording pen!

’If she finds it, all the evidence will be useless, and Caden Monroe will go after Miles Warren even more ruthlessly.’

It was a critical moment.

"CLICK—"

With a soft sound, the suite door was pushed open.

Miles Warren had arrived.

The man’s suit jacket was casually draped over his arm, his shirt cuffs rolled up to reveal well-defined forearms.

He lifted his gaze coolly, his dark, deep eyes sweeping over the chaotic scene.

They finally locked precisely onto the slender figure being harassed by Vera Sloan.

Claire Kendall’s heart leaped. ’Did he recognize me?’

The man’s gaze lingered for less than a second before he raised an eyebrow and a faint smile played on his lips.

"Mr. Monroe, what a lively party. You invite me to dinner as an apology, but you also arranged for such a spectacular performance by a beautiful lady?"

He walked in slowly and stopped in front of Claire Kendall. He leaned down, his fingers hooking the chin of her fox-themed mask, and locked his gaze on her slightly panicked eyes.

Miles Warren leaned in closer, as if appraising an interesting little trinket.

"What little treasure are you hiding on your body? You’ve certainly made Ms. Sloan curious."

As soon as he finished speaking, Miles Warren reached out and slipped his hand into the neckline of Claire Kendall’s camisole.

"Let me see."

The suite fell silent. All eyes were on Miles Warren.

Claire Kendall froze, her face burning hot behind the mask.

The man’s hand squeezed her breast, a little hard, as if with a hint of punishment.

Claire Kendall cursed him inwardly. She bit her lip; even though the squeeze hurt, she didn’t dare make a sound.

The next second, his hand moved away from her breast, discreetly taking the recording pen with it.

’He really did recognize me.’

Miles Warren’s long fingers hooked her loose strap and slowly, deliberately, pulled it back into place.

"Mr. Warren," Caden Monroe began, "this waitress is clumsy and broke something. Just let Vera Sloan handle it, you..."

"Me what?" Miles Warren’s smile was playful. "Mr. Monroe, you invited me here for a drink to apologize. Surely you won’t deny me the pleasure of touching a waitress?"

Caden Monroe was left speechless.

Vera Sloan stood to the side, biting her lip. Her eyes darted, fixed on Claire Kendall’s chest. She had clearly seen something in there just now. If Miles Warren hadn’t suddenly burst in...

"Mr. Warren, there’s something suspicious about this waitress. After I’ve finished investigating her, you can..."

Miles Warren sat down in an empty seat, shot out his long arm, and without another word, grabbed Claire Kendall by the waist and pulled hard.

She was forced onto his lap.

He laughed as his hand roamed and squeezed her slender waist. His searing touch made Claire Kendall tremble all over.

"Little waitress, why are you shaking?"

The man, with the air of a debauched rake, glanced at Vera Sloan.

"Ms. Sloan, don’t bully her."

"This little waitress is quite interesting. I want to play."

Caden Monroe’s expression shifted slightly. He waved his hand, signaling Vera Sloan to back off.

"Since Mr. Warren is in a rare mood for some fun, you can have her. Vera Sloan, don’t spoil Mr. Warren’s good time."

Vera Sloan shot a glare at Claire Kendall and reluctantly retreated to Caden Monroe’s side.

Caden Monroe added unhurriedly, "Vera Sloan, go with the manager and find out who’s in this little waitress’s family. Give her family a sum of money."

He looked at Miles Warren and said with a smile.

"As long as the money is right, you can play with this waitress however you want tonight, Mr. Warren."

"Consider it part of my apology to you. If you break her, her family won’t dare to come looking for trouble."

Vera Sloan understood, nodded immediately, and walked out of the suite.

Claire Kendall, who had thought she’d escaped, felt her heart leap back into her throat.

’Caden Monroe really is a sly fox,’ she thought. ’His words had a hidden meaning. He’s sending Vera Sloan to check on my real identity with the manager.’

’If they find out...’

From the moment Miles Warren walked in, the female model’s eyes had been glued to him.

The sharp lines of his profile, the silhouette of his shoulders and back... he was in a completely different league from the men she usually entertained.

Even *that* part of him seemed particularly... impressive.

The model licked her lips, picked up a wine glass from the table, and rose gracefully, her waist swaying like a water snake.

"Mr. Warren."

The model drew out the final syllable as she sashayed to Miles Warren’s side.

"Let me pour you a drink. We can’t neglect a guest invited by Mr. Monroe."

As she poured, she leaned against Miles Warren’s arm, her neckline dipping low, her eyes full of silken seduction.

"Mr. Warren, why don’t I be the host tonight? We could find a quieter place for a couple more drinks?"
