Chapter 427: Chapter 138: Just a Mission from the Beautiful Mentor (Part 1)
CRACK!
Lucas’s Holy Light shield instantly shattered like glass. The aftershock sent him stumbling back several steps, and his face immediately flushed beet red.
"YEAH~!"
The students of Hurst Academy erupted in thunderous cheers.
The Priests and Holy Knights of the Holy Light System were especially ecstatic, their faces flushed as they couldn’t help but burst into applause.
"Senior Avril is awesome!"
"Beat the crap out of those bastards from the Imperial Capital!"
Over with the Imperial Capital Academy, Karl von Hohenlohe stood with his arms crossed, a disdainful sneer playing on his lips. "Lucas, that piece of trash. Can’t even take down a little girl."
Though he said that, a flicker of solemnity unconsciously crossed his eyes.
’This Avril girl... her combat skills are incredible. She’s nothing like an ordinary Holy Priest who just follows the standard academy curriculum!’
「Meanwhile.」
In the Silver Moon Academy’s camp, Ailendra Moon Language narrowed her amber eyes and murmured, "Interesting~ To think Hurst Academy was hiding a Holy Priest like this. I’m afraid none of the Priests in our year are her match."
The Half-Beastman beside her grinned. "Want me to go test her mettle?"
"No rush," Airendra said with a wave of her hand. "Let’s enjoy the show for now."
While everyone’s attention was fixed on the spectacular duel, the Goblin Airship in the distant sky sputtered as it landed on the edge of the port, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Lynch and his group clearly had no intention of making a high-profile entrance by jumping down like Avril did.
Once the airship had landed, they filed down the gangway and silently made their way around the edge of the crowd to the back of the Hurst Academy camp.
"Is that..."
"Lilith! Lilith is back!"
A surprised cheer erupted from the crowd of Mage Series students, and several students in robes waved excitedly toward Lilith.
"Ophelia, you’re finally here!" Over with the Warrior Series students, several figures clad in battle armor also rushed up excitedly to greet her.
But the biggest commotion came from the Undead System.
"Big Brother Lynch! Big Brother is back!"
"Big Brother! We missed you so much!"
A crowd of Undead System students, led by Maurice and Eliot, were beside themselves with excitement and immediately swarmed around him.
Back when Lynch was at the academy, he had led them to sweep the school-wide tournament. Two years had passed, and though these former underlings had all grown considerably in their own right, in their hearts, Lynch would forever be their omnipotent Big Brother.
"Alright, alright, calm down."
Lynch smiled and waved dismissively, exchanging a few pleasantries with them before he noticed a young girl happily trotting over to him.
She was a girl with short, flaxen hair and slightly chubby cheeks—his own junior disciple, Charlotte Aiselle.
"Hello, Senior Lynch!" Charlotte bowed respectfully, her eyes filled with little stars of adoration.
Lynch reached out to ruffle her hair and chuckled. "Well now, you’ve gotten taller. By the way, is Iron Arm doing alright with you?"
"He’s doing great!" Charlotte quickly summoned a Black Corpse. The creature was a mass of knotted muscles, dark and sturdy, its aura more than twice as powerful as before. "I’ve been taking good care of him, you know."
Lynch nodded in satisfaction and gave her a few words of praise, then couldn’t help but look around. "By the way, where’s our Master?"
"Master went to the Rage Tide Legion headquarters. It seems she had something to handle," Charlotte replied quickly. "She said that after you arrived, you should go take your exam and not to worry about finding her right away."
"Mm." Lynch nodded in understanding and casually went back to greeting his schoolmates.
His gaze swept across the crowd, inadvertently meeting the eyes of the Holy Light System students he’d had conflicts with in the past—like Baal Aiken, who had targeted him at every turn, and that insufferably arrogant Carl.
Lynch took the initiative to smile and nod at them, his demeanor poised and unruffled.
They clearly hadn’t expected Lynch to be so "magnanimous." They froze for a second, then hurriedly nodded back, looking both awkward and flattered.
Even though Lynch hadn’t returned to the academy in years, legends about him were still widespread. They were all well aware that the Lynch of today was a Baron of the Empire and the leader of the Dawn Battle Group—a major figure who guarded an entire region.
They were just students who hadn’t even graduated yet; how could they dare show him the slightest disrespect?
Even when greeting the masters, Lynch’s expression was calm and casual, the very picture of composure.
"Master Gwen, long time no see."
"Master Cole, you should really stop smiling. It’s creepy."
"Old Master Harvey, hey there! You’re looking more vigorous than ever."
Toward Master Gwen of the Elemental System, as well as Cole and old Harvey of the Undead System, Lynch was warm and familiar, like a junior visiting his elders.
But when facing Master Casper, the Holy Knight Master who had once suppressed the Undead System, and Master Lianna, who had been on the verge of tears just moments before, Lynch also just smiled and nodded, his attitude neither servile nor overbearing. "Master Casper, Master Lianna. I trust you’ve been well."
The masters, in turn, were very courteous to him.
Although Lianna and the other Holy Light System masters looked somewhat awkward, they didn’t dare show the slightest disrespect in their speech.
Today’s Lynch was no longer the Undead System student they could push around at will. He was a Baron of the Empire, the leader of a battle group that guarded an entire region.
Lynch’s own mindset was also completely different.
’Are you kidding? I was calling the shots on the frontier, even ordering around Legion Commander Jais and making him clean up my messes.’
