The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1314 - 1254: Search
If the Night Owl isn’t eliminated, Sienna Johnson knows there will be no peace for her and Adrian Desmond. However, getting rid of the Night Owl isn’t a simple task.
Especially now, when there are more enemies than allies.
She feels like a burden and can’t help Adrian in any way; how could Sienna bear to let Adrian take risks?
Sienna was somewhat anxious and, after thinking for a moment, asked, "The sea surrounds us on all sides. If you can contact them from Marion, then this could be a good place to take out Night Owl."
"The problem is we can’t contact them."
"Adrian, we could snatch a phone. Think about it, those people must have phones on them.
The yacht doesn’t have a signal, but that doesn’t mean there’s no signal here. We can grab a phone and contact Marion.
If they could arrive in time to support us, with cooperation from inside and outside, wouldn’t we stand a chance?"
Adrian looked at the woman and laughed, understanding what was on her mind. She was eager to return to Sileria City to see her child, and thus wanted to resolve the Night Owl issue quickly.
Adrian silently lit a candle in his heart for Night Owl.
After all Night Owl’s efforts for this woman, the result is not only does she not appreciate it, she also thinks about how to kill him.
Night Owl is truly pitiful.
"This island is too remote and there’s no signal, unless someone has a satellite phone. Are you sure any one of them has a satellite phone?" Adrian asked.
Sienna shook her head; how would she know?
Night Owl wouldn’t let her near a phone, and when she borrowed one from Victoria Logan, Night Owl found out and forced her to jump into the sea.
"I was too hasty."
Sienna reflected for a moment; Adrian being cautious was not wrong.
Sienna also wished to take down Night Owl so she could return to Sileria City with peace of mind.
Yet, reality is always harsh.
"He won’t last long," Adrian consoled Sienna, seeing her dejected expression.
"Hmm."
Seeing Adrian’s confident demeanor, Sienna realized she couldn’t contribute much to the situation, so she didn’t say more.
"I’ll find some food for you. Wait for me here."
"Considering my condition, running around isn’t possible anyway."
Both of Sienna’s arms were injured, along with one leg, but thanks to soaking in the high-salinity sea water, there’s no worry about infection.
Adrian patted her head and left.
Sienna sat there, looking at the empty room, her mind recalling the locations where the jewels were stored.
At that time, seeing the jewels, Sienna was more surprised than delighted; she was quite proud and felt Adrian was insulting her by using these jewels to tempt her.
He thought she would change her mind upon seeing the jewels and follow him devotedly. What did he take her for?
Looking back now, Adrian was merely trying to woo her, using his clumsy way.
"Fool."
...
The dense forest provided the perfect camouflage, and Adrian stood on a tree, shrouded by thick branches and leaves.
Six people scouted ahead, with over twenty trailing behind, and in the middle was Night Owl, constantly searching, his expression cold and filled with murderous intent.
They’ve been searching for two days now, truly relentless.
Night Owl seemed to sense Adrian’s gaze, as his sharp eyes glanced in Adrian’s direction. A snake slithered onto Adrian’s shoulder—a venomous one. Adrian suppressed his killing intent and remained still, allowing the snake to mistake him for a tree and move on.
"Master, what’s wrong?" Li asked Night Owl, noticing him staring at a tree in confusion.
Suddenly, the leaves rustled, and the group quickly drew their guns, becoming alert, as a snake slid down to another tree.
Seeing it was just a snake, Night Owl withdrew his gaze.
Adrian counted the group, totaling 36 people including Night Owl, more than Sienna had informed him.
Facing 36 people alone, Adrian wasn’t confident. Even if he managed to defeat the 35 others, Night Owl would seize the chance to escape.
After watching them leave, Adrian jumped down from the tree and moved in the opposite direction to forage for food.
...
As time passed, about an hour later, Adrian returned, finally calming the weight on Sienna’s heart.
"Adrian, you’re finally back."
"Night Owl is still searching for you above."
Sienna frowned, clearly not pleased with this news.
"Your information was incorrect; Night Owl has 35 people, including six top assassins from Death Island."
Adrian placed the wild chicken and snake on the ground, along with several clean, bright-red fruits.
"I’m Night Owl’s prisoner, with little freedom. I only glanced briefly; how would I know exactly how many people were with Night Owl."
"They’re still wandering above, unable to find their way here. Come on, I’ll take you to eat roasted chicken."
"Roasted chicken? You’re planning to start a fire here? It’s not ventilated at all—you aren’t afraid we’ll suffocate?"
"The place is spacious. I’ll show you around."
"What’s there to see?"
Now surrounded by danger and with her stomach growling, Sienna had no interest in touring this underground-like place.
Adrian picked up the things on the ground and walked over to lift Sienna, who was sitting on the floor. That’s when Sienna noticed Adrian had brought back a dead snake about a meter long.
Seeing the dead snake made Sienna’s scalp tingle, "Why did you bring back a snake?"
"To roast and eat."
Sienna: ...
"It tastes good. I often ate it while living on this island."
Sienna: ...
...
Sienna hadn’t expected this basement to be so spacious. Adrian carried her with twists and turns until they reached a room.
The room was simple but had a bed, running water, a gas stove, and even a fireplace...
Sienna asked in surprise, "How are there things like this here?"
"This was my place before, so I added some things."
"Why would you live in a place like this?"
"It’s free."
"..."
"I was poor for a while."
"I can’t imagine what you were like when you were poor."
When Sienna met Adrian, he was wealthy, constantly "showing off" to her—giving diamonds today, South Sea pearls tomorrow. If it were any other woman, she probably would’ve been tempted.
"Very poor; couldn’t afford to eat."
Adrian placed Sienna on an old, somewhat dirty couch but, given the circumstances, Sienna didn’t mind.
"Poor guy."
"We’re in the same boat."
