The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1422 - 1362: Returning to the Johnson Family Ahead of Schedule
Adrian Desmond originally wanted to keep it from Sienna Johnson, but realized that he couldn’t hide it at all.
Since it was the Spring Festival, people working outside had returned home, and everyone in the village knew each other, any small disturbance would quickly become known.
The crime scene was surrounded by villagers so tightly that if the police hadn’t set up a cordon, the villagers would have gone in for a look.
Rose Collins heard about the tragedy and hurriedly ran inside to inform Sienna Johnson.
In the kitchen, Sienna Johnson was preparing dinner for everyone. After eating rich food lately, she was making a mushroom soup.
Seeing Sienna Johnson in the kitchen, Rose Collins closed the kitchen door and approached her, mysteriously saying, "Sienna, someone died, someone died..."
"Who died?" Sienna Johnson asked.
"Barnabas Smith and Richardson Smith’s wife, they died so horribly. I heard Richardson’s wife was stabbed more than ten times, terrifying, Barnabas’s throat was cut so badly, only a bit of skin connected it, and his wife is still in confinement, she fainted from crying."
"Why them?" Sienna Johnson asked in surprise.
"Do you think it was Richardson who did it?" Rose Collins speculated, "Could it be that Richardson found out about his wife’s affair with Barnabas and killed the two of them?"
Seeing Rose Collins guessing randomly, Sienna Johnson advised her, "Mom, the situation isn’t clear yet, don’t talk nonsense outside. I trust the police will investigate quickly."
"I wouldn’t dare say anything nonsense. I rushed back to tell you when I found out." Rose Collins felt terrible, "Richardson is a good boy, if he really killed someone..."
"Mom, maybe it’s not him, don’t overthink it, let’s wait for the police investigation results."
"Uh-huh. How could something like this happen during a big festival?" Rose Collins didn’t say anything else, just felt discomfort in her heart.
...
Sienna Johnson prepared lunch, but Curly didn’t come down to eat.
After not hearing her daughter’s chatter all morning, Sienna Johnson found Curly’s silence too eerie.
Her daughter was never a demure lady, more like a mischievous monkey.
Sienna Johnson went to Curly’s room to check on her, to see what was wrong since she hadn’t even eaten.
Inside the room, Adrian Desmond was also there, sitting by the bed, stroking her curly hair, gently comforting her.
"What’s wrong?" Sienna Johnson asked.
"..."
"Curly, why didn’t you come to lunch?" Sienna Johnson came over and sat by Curly’s bed, asking.
Curly drooped her little head, sitting there, picking at her fingers. Sienna Johnson hugged her, joking, "Is it because I gave you too little more as New Year money?"
"..."
"Really angry?"
Adrian Desmond said, "Curly saw Richardson’s family’s murder case."
"Ah?" Sienna Johnson was startled.
Adrian Desmond explained how Curly saw the murder case at Richardson’s house from the attic and told Sienna Johnson, adding, "Marion went to check, it’s Richardson who killed. Richardson killed his wife and Barnabas."
"Do the police know?"
"No."
Sienna Johnson frowned, speculating about Richardson’s motive for murder, guessing it was because he discovered his wife’s affair with Barnabas and acted in rage.
Sienna Johnson held her daughter tightly, comforting, "Don’t be scared, Daddy and Mommy are here, we’ll protect you, won’t let anyone harm you."
Curly drooped her little head, every time she closed her eyes, she saw the murder scene, terrified her.
"Mom, I want to go home," Curly said.
Sienna Johnson glanced at Adrian Desmond, who sighed and said, "Then let’s go home, there’s nothing fun here anyway."
They planned to stay until the sixth day of the new year; today was only the first day of the new year.
Sienna Johnson kissed her daughter’s forehead, saying, "Okay, we’ll leave after lunch, alright?"
"Uh-huh."
"Let’s go, let’s eat lunch." Sienna Johnson lifted her daughter, Adrian Desmond said, "She’s grown, you can’t lift her, let me do it."
Adrian Desmond took Curly over, reassuring her with the broad, warm embrace of a father, her face buried in his chest, exceptionally quiet.
Seeing his daughter like this, Adrian Desmond felt heartache too, thinking of Richardson, and became angry.
"When we get back, Daddy will give you a big red envelope, okay? More than Kiya gave Dylan?"
Curly remained silent.
Sienna Johnson said, "She doesn’t want to talk, don’t force it."
Curly’s lively and cheerful nature, she will forget over time, and she’ll be fine.
...
The family suddenly decided to leave, and Rose Collins didn’t stop them.
Rose Collins helped with packing, bundled up their things, and Sienna Johnson said, "Mom, this isn’t Blackwood, we’re not far from the city center, we can come any time. Don’t pack so much for us."
"It’s all food, take it, perfect for eating during the New Year. Anyway, the stores are closed, if you want to eat, you won’t find them open."
Sienna Johnson couldn’t refuse her, so took everything with them, since they drove over, there was space.
Sheehan hadn’t played enough, didn’t want to leave. The little guy was particularly difficult, even suggested letting them go while he stayed here.
After a murder case occurred, Sienna Johnson could not leave the little one here, immediately had Adrian Desmond put Sheehan into the car. Sheehan started to fuss but settled down after Adrian gave him a stern look.
...
By the time they returned to the Johnson Family home, it was already dark, the kids had slept in the car and were carried directly to their rooms.
The servant had prepared dinner early, ready for their arrival, and once everyone got there, they immediately started eating.
At the table were the adults, who began discussing the murder case.
Sienna Johnson shared what she knew with them.
Pauline Briggs listened and said, "Those two weren’t good people, but Richardson shouldn’t have killed anyone. And I heard Richardson has a pair of children, when they grow up and find out their father killed their mother, how will they face it."
"Yes, if things are tough, you should just divorce." Paige Desmond also did not support such extreme measures.
Kiya glanced at Paige Desmond but said nothing.
Sienna Johnson speculated Richardson’s mindset, "I’m guessing he wasn’t willing. Richardson sacrificed so much for this family, but in the end, his wife betrayed him."
Pauline Briggs sighed, "What’s wrong with these young people today, can’t they just live peacefully?"
"There are too many temptations outside, not enough self-control, losing grip leads to trouble," Sienna Johnson said.
Adrian Desmond ate and drank, showing no interest in Richardson’s affair.
Pauline Briggs watched them, saying, "Do you see? A troubled home leads to incidents, remember amidst outside temptations, think of this family, think of the children, it’s not easy for two to come together..."
