“Mom, we all understand, don’t be sad.” Sienna Johnson comforted her.

Pauline Briggs was soft-hearted; hearing such things during the Lunar New Year made her feel uneasy.

The main issue was with Richardson Smith. Pauline also knew him and knew that not only was he not bad, but he was also a pretty decent guy, family-oriented, responsible, and hardworking. Who knew he would take such a step, ruining others and himself.

“In our time, once we got married, we just focused on living our lives. Unlike you young people nowadays… sigh…” Pauline sighed.

“Mom, Adrian Desmond and I are also focused on living our lives after getting married.” Sienna replied.

Pauline looked at Adrian, who was silently eating and not speaking. The more she looked at that face, the more annoyed she became. She reprimanded, “You, as a man, why do you need to be so good-looking?”

Paige Desmond, who was eating, heard Pauline’s words and burst out laughing. Adrian glanced at her.

Paige said, “Brother, your mother-in-law is worried that your face will attract some vixen. Why not wear a mask when you go out in the future?”

Adrian tapped her head with his chopsticks and scolded, “Eat your food!”

Following Paige’s words, Pauline said, “Paige is right, your face too easily attracts vixens. Adrian, I’m warning you, if you dare…”

Sienna interrupted Pauline and said, “Mom, let’s eat, I’m starving…”

“Just eat your food; I’m not stopping you from eating.”

“Your talking affects my appetite.”

Pauline glared at her daughter and said, “Alright then, I know you’re protecting him. Men need preventive shots often, or it’ll be too late when he really cheats…”

Paige spoke up for her brother, “Auntie Agatha, my sister-in-law is so beautiful, my brother would never cheat, don’t worry.”

“Paige, there are plenty of men who cheat despite having a beautiful wife. Men have an instinctive desire for multiple partners. Junichi Watanabe said, ‘Sperm has the unconditional instinct to rush to the egg and enter it, while the egg chooses one candidate from countless pursuers; this is the principle of sex.’ For men, even with a young and beautiful wife by their side, sometimes they can’t help but want to interact with other women. Often, for men, the most crucial thing is novelty; men are driven by this desire for newness. Sometimes, even if the newly met woman is far inferior to their wife, they are greatly attracted simply because she is unknown. This explains why most men are interested in extramarital affairs…”

Sienna watched Pauline, wanting to interrupt several times but unable to break Pauline’s continuous speech. Her mother was becoming more intense.

Finally, when Pauline finished, Sienna said, “Mom, I didn’t know you read Junichi Watanabe’s works.”

“I haven’t read Junichi Watanabe’s works; I saw it said like this in Leanne Andrews’ TV drama.”

Sienna: …

…

The Lunar New Year is more exhausting than work. Visiting relatives and friends, Sienna Johnson, who is in business, also has to take advantage of the New Year to give gifts for certain special tasks.

Gift-giving has its nuances; if it’s too light, then truly, the gift is as light as the sentiment;

If it’s too heavy, it won’t work either. These days, with the strict emphasis on integrity, if it’s too heavy, they wouldn’t dare accept it. Sienna pondered hard to please some people.

Sienna was very busy and quickly put Richardson Smith’s matter behind her. Curly had a few nightmares and followed Sienna and Adrian for a while until they slowly recovered.

Later, Sienna heard that Richardson Smith was still arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. No one adopted the two children, and they were sent to the orphanage.

When Sienna heard about this outcome, she really wanted to ask Richardson Smith if he regretted it.

Actually, he had other choices, like choosing divorce, choosing a new beginning… At least his two children wouldn’t end up in the orphanage.

…

After the fifteenth of the first lunar month, the New Year was truly over.

As soon as work started, Sienna focused most of her energy on competing for the position of Medical Association President.

After the New Year, Graham Robertson officially stepped down, and the election for the President was put on the agenda. Being a woman, Sienna didn’t have high chances, but she still planned to give it her all.

The first step in running for President is to pass the candidate screening. Only by becoming a candidate can you run for President.

Becoming a candidate requires a deposit of 150 thousand and at least one-third of the board’s directors’ recommendation votes. Currently, Sienna had received Graham Robertson’s recommendation, but that was far from enough.

Paige Desmond came in to deliver documents to Sienna and saw her struggling to write a speech.

Sienna was frowning deeply, looking like it was strenuous work. Paige heard from James Winslow that Sienna had been writing her speech since the morning.

Paige said, “Sister-in-law, you can let Kiya help you write.”

“Can Kiya write? I’m running for Medical Association President, and Kiya doesn’t understand the medical field…”

“He doesn’t understand professionally, but he’s good at those lofty words. The first time I saw Kiya was when he came to our school for a speech, and although I’m not fond of it, he’s quite persuasive…”

Sienna: …

Paige took out her phone and called Kiya to come help.

Sienna hadn’t had time to stop her before Paige finished the call and directly asked Kiya to come to the company.

“Um, I can handle this myself.” Sienna felt it was a bit too much trouble for Kiya.

“Why not make use of a man? Kiya can handle this in no time. Besides, he’s currently unemployed and has nothing to do all day.”

Sienna: …

Kiya quickly came over after receiving Paige’s call, even bringing lunch for her.

Kiya looked her up and down, seeing that she was fine, and asked, “What happened? You called me over so urgently.”

“My sister-in-law is running for Medical Association President and needs to write a speech. I remember when I was in college, you came to our school for a speech, and it was pretty good. Help my sister-in-law write one.”

Kiya was a bit excited and asked, “You know what I talked about?”

At the time, Paige was sitting in the last row of the auditorium, eating snacks and chatting with her friends, not even looking up at him once. Kiya thought she hadn’t heard a word.

Unexpectedly, she knew about the content of his speech, which made Kiya very happy.

“How would I know what you talked about? My roommate told me. They said you spoke very well, very compelling, truly fitting for someone who wants to be a Sultan… Indeed, your speech is very persuasive.”

Kiya felt a bit hurt.

“I’ll go have lunch with my sister-in-law. Can you finish by noon?”

Kiya also wanted to go have lunch with Paige, and Sienna noticed Kiya’s intention, so she said, “No rush, it’s noon already, let’s eat together.”
