The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1429 - 1369: From Master to Servant
Paige Desmond knew that Kiya was the type who wouldn’t stop until he reached his goal. Saying "no" would be useless, so she simply went along with him.
The car drove toward the Old Town District.
The Old Town District had many buildings from the time of the Republic of Orienta, blending the architectural styles of Orienta-Avrupa. The roads were lined with towering trees; although it was winter and there were no green leaves, one could easily imagine this place in summer, with lush green canopies.
"Where are you taking me?"
"You’re so impatient. You’ll know when we get there," Kiya said, teasingly.
"Kiya, I’ve found that sometimes you’re unbelievably childish."
"You used to say that I was too serious and rigid."
The car slowly entered a wide avenue flanked by old-fashioned townhouses with a sense of historical charm.
Gavin slowed down the car and gently drove into a courtyard.
"Sultan, we have arrived."
Kiya said to Paige Desmond, "We’re here, get out of the car."
Paige got out of the car with the cryptic Kiya, curious to see what he was up to this time.
Kiya led Paige by the hand into a small three-story villa.
The weather was fine, with warm sunshine, and once they entered, Paige’s gaze was immediately captured by the interior décor.
The main hall was set up as a workshop, with various pottery-making tools and materials. James Winslow had recently expressed a desire to craft colorful pottery, and here she was, finding colorful clay.
On the southern side of the house, there was a sunroom. Along the wall stood a row of shelves, displaying colorful porcelain pieces, looking beautiful in the sunlight.
"These are for you. Do you like them?" Kiya asked.
Paige wanted to insist she didn’t, but in her heart, she actually loved them. This was exactly what she wanted.
Making pottery in the warm sunshine, the smooth clay spinning in her hands into the shapes she desired, was truly the most beautiful enjoyment.
"It seems you don’t like it."
"..."
"Gavin..." Kiya called out.
Gavin stepped forward respectfully, "Sultan, what do you need?"
"The Queen doesn’t like it; tell that man I agreed to sell the house..." Kiya muttered to himself, "What a pity, such a beautiful house will soon become a place to keep dogs."
"What do you mean a place to keep dogs?"
"Oh, there’s a tycoon who loves dogs. He has too many dogs at home and can’t manage them all, so he wanted to buy a house with a yard to keep them in.
I originally wanted to open a porcelain shop like Secretary Winslow’s here, but since you don’t like it, let’s forget it."
"..."
"The original owner moved abroad, which is why this house was sold. He sold it to me initially because I had a wife who loved porcelain. If he knew I sold it to a dog-loving tycoon, he would be heartbroken."
No wonder the place was so well-equipped. The previous owner was also passionate about porcelain. Naturally, Paige Desmond wasn’t willing to let such a place become a dog retreat.
She said, "Don’t sell it, I really like this place."
Kiya smiled and agreed, "Alright, since you like it, I won’t sell it."
Kiya led Paige over to a wooden table, cluttered with various jars and pots.
"Will you teach me how to make pottery?" Kiya asked, looking at her intently.
"Do you really want to learn?"
"Of course."
"..."
"Don’t worry about not being able to teach me; all my teachers say I’m smart and a quick learner," Kiya boasted when he saw Paige’s hesitation.
"Alright then."
As Paige busied herself with the colorful clay, a triumphant gleam crossed Kiya’s eyes. It seemed he had chosen the right place this time.
...
The Johnson Family, ten o’clock, the cold wind howled outside, making the windows creak eerily.
Once again, Adrian Desmond was late coming home.
This time, Sienna Johnson hadn’t gone to bed. She sat on the bed with a book, waiting for Adrian to return.
Usually, Adrian wouldn’t come home later than around eleven or twelve, but today, he returned at the break of dawn.
Smelling of alcohol, Adrian was surprised to see the woman sitting on the bed. "Why aren’t you asleep?" he asked.
"What time is it?" Sienna asked pointedly.
Adrian hadn’t looked at the time, but he knew it wasn’t early. He chuckled, "Sorry, I got home late. You don’t have to wait for me; go to bed early."
"..."
"I’ll take a shower."
"Adrian, we need to talk," Sienna said seriously.
"I’m all covered in alcohol; you’ll get a whiff of it. I’ll talk after I shower!" Adrian said as he entered the bathroom, pondering on how to handle the woman.
Sienna was visibly displeased.
While Adrian showered, Sienna lost the mood for reading. She placed a bookmark on the page she had been reading, closed the book, and set it on the bedside table before getting up to find Adrian’s pajamas.
...
In bed, as Sienna dried Adrian’s damp hair, she didn’t immediately speak.
Adrian confessed, "I’m not hiding from you. I’ve been associating with some of Sileria City’s elite, so I’ve had more social engagements lately."
"I’m not against you networking with influential people, but you can’t come back drunk every day. You’ve got so many old injuries, and I’ve worked hard to help you recover," Sienna criticized.
Sienna understood; she too occasionally had to attend social events, but nothing justified compromising one’s health.
"What can I do? In Abyanabad, I was like a ’lord,’ but here, I’m more like a ’servant,’" Adrian joked.
"Adrian, it’s not necessary," Sienna protested.
"Whether in Abyanabad or Sileria City, just having money isn’t enough. I need the power those elites hold, and they need my money. It’s all about mutual benefit," Adrian was blunt about his intentions.
"I know quite a few influential people too. Isn’t going through me more effective than approaching them directly?" Sienna suggested.
"You’re a woman!"
Adrian threw a towel at her, "Hmph! You’re underestimating women again!"
Adrian turned and embraced her, pressing her beneath him. He kissed her lips and said, "The world of men doesn’t easily allow women in. Unless..."
He whispered a few words in her ear, and Sienna smacked him hard.
"Shameless!"
"Don’t worry about it; I know what I’m doing. Even though I come home late every day, and sometimes there’s even a hint of perfume, you have my absolute loyalty."
"Who’s worried about you cheating?"
"You’re really not worried?"
"If you cheat, I’m not scared. If you do, just get lost back to Abyanabad," Sienna huffed, playing it cool.
Adrian laughed, "I’m afraid."
Recently, Adrian had been leaving early and coming home late, and they hadn’t been intimate for several days. Usually, when he came home, Sienna was already asleep, and he didn’t want to wake her. Since she wasn’t asleep today...
"Since you’re not sleeping, let’s exercise. Exercise before bed helps with sleep."
"Adrian, I have something to ask you."
"I’m busy right now!"
