Homelander would take support from anyone who gave him milk.
Lucas rolled his eyes, thinking this guy really hadn’t changed at all.
It was only right that he hadn’t changed.
"Alright, now that you’ve figured it out, get lost. I’ve still got a ton of things to deal with." Lucas waved his hand, shooing Homelander out of the office like a fly.
"I’ve still got babes to court!"
After Homelander left, Lucas pressed the intercom on his desk and successively summoned Ashley, Sister Sage, and Hughie.
Ashley walked in wearing a sharp professional business suit and high heels, her face glowing with radiance.
This woman didn’t crumble under pressure, and now that she had successfully landed ashore, she was the epitome of an elite woman.
What Lucas mainly inquired about was still the matter concerning the President.
Regarding the presidential campaign, it was currently proceeding in an orderly manner, and according to Sister Sage’s calculations, it would only take a little over a year for Ashley to squeeze out the current President and ascend to the top of the White House herself.
To this end, Sister Sage had built a predictive model.
During Ashley’s term in office, she wouldn’t even need to make any complex political achievements; she only needed to do one thing, which was to officially confer the title of Regent upon the Guardian on behalf of the people of America.
As long as Lucas’s public persona didn’t collapse, relying on the Guardian’s prestige, Ashley would become one of the most popular Presidents in history.
Not only would she be the first female President, but she would also receive such a supreme honor.
How could Ashley not be beaming with radiance?
She even had hopes of making it onto Mount Rushmore, which was truly an honor that would go down in history.
Lucas nodded.
Not bad.
If Ashley could make it onto Mount Hokage and become the dozens-generation Hokage of America, it would mean that America was going to be completely finished!
"Very well, go ahead and do it boldly. All of Vought’s resources will give you the green light." Lucas dismissed Ashley.
Next was Hughie’s report.
The business he was in charge of had always been the Guardian’s charitable foundation.
Hughie had always been wholeheartedly engaged in the operation of the foundation.
To eradicate corruption and scandals within the superhero circle, all accounts of the Guardian Foundation were publicly released to society, with every single donation and its destination accurate down to the smallest line item, achieving absolute transparency.
There was no way some staff member would suddenly expose themselves for using the foundation’s charitable funds to buy expensive family-size fruit buckets.
Every single fund was implemented down to specific individuals.
"We can open micro-fundraising channels to the entire World."
Lucas pointed at the document and added, "Single donation amounts can be as small as 1 cent or as large as 100 dollars. The amount doesn’t matter; what matters is letting the entire populace participate in doing good deeds, and you can use my name."
Making money fast while still having to do charity.
However, Lucas wasn’t short of money, so he truly was a wealth-dispersing boy, except that the money he was dispersing was also obtained from the old timers.
It belonged to the category of robbing the rich to help the poor.
Hughie took notes earnestly, touched to the point of almost shedding little pearls of tears.
"Guardian, currently all those victims rescued from Rhode Island have accepted donations from the foundation."
"We have obtained various formal approvals, built brand-new orphanages for the children, provided relevant schools, and specially hired dedicated psychological Doctors."
"In addition... we have also aided some homeless people. Among them are retired meritorious soldiers and down-and-out surgical Doctors who can only roam the streets due to various reasons. Their families want to meet you in person to express their gratitude!"
Having stayed at Vought for so long, Hughie was most clear about the true faces of some superheroes; for them, doing charity was merely a tool to rake in money and build up their public personas.
Only the Guardian truly dug into his own pockets and subsidized money to do good deeds.
I’m afraid his money must be running out too, otherwise why would he open a fundraising channel?
Tearful!
Lucas nodded: "Arrange a private-natured meeting, don’t bother with all those flashy and superficial things, just gather the victims and their families together."
"The theme of the meeting won’t discuss anything else, only specific follow-up assistance plans. For example, some homeless people can be arranged to go to the companies under my name to work as cleaners and security guards, having decent jobs, earning money, and not being slaughtered."
"Those with knowledge will be arranged for interviews and employment, while the children will be funded through the entire process until they completely shake off their psychological shadows."
Hughie was stunned for a moment: "Aren’t we holding a public press conference facing the masses? This is an elite public relations opportunity!"
Lucas stood up, looking at the city skyline outside the window with a fathomless expression on his face.
"Hughie, do you think those traumatized people need down-to-earth help, or being dragged under the spotlight to have their scars reopened again?"
"If I held a press conference, unscrupulous media would inevitably surround them and continuously hound them with those privacy questions. This violates my original intention, understand? What we want to do are true good deeds!"
Hughie’s heart shook violently, his eyes filled with reverence: "I understand! Guardian, you are simply the greatest hero I have ever seen since I entered this profession! I guarantee that there will never be any corruption in the foundation."
"In addition... I apply for Cate to be stationed permanently at the foundation to help me."
"Very well." Lucas agreed.
In private, Cate had indeed mentioned to him once that she wanted to change her codename to Ms. V.
To be honest, this codename sounded much better than the previous one.
At a glance, it had a strong The Boys characteristic.
After handling Hughie’s matters, Lucas summoned A-Train separately.
A-Train had recently been cooperating with Vought in public relations activities, but his private life had long since shaken off its past decadence and chaos. Instead, he cherished this hard-won opportunity, training diligently every day and even taking the initiative to apply to join the foundation as a volunteer.
Looking at A-Train standing before him, Lucas asked bluntly:
"A-Train, do you understand the responsibilities and mission upon you?"
"Are you willing to do more good deeds for ordinary commoners within the scope of your abilities?"
"Of course, I’m not asking you to sacrifice or dedicate your life; you just need to do what is within your power."
A-Train quickly straightened his body and said loudly: "Of course I am willing! Even if it means sacrificing my life, I will never back down!"
Lucas exerted his psychic power and noticed that when A-Train said this sentence, his confidence was somewhat hollow.
The other party was purely doing it to pledge loyalty.
However, he didn’t mind; A-Train was, after all, a mortal.
It was human instinct for mortals to fear Death.
But when mortals conquered fear and faced Death head-on, that was the reason why A-Train could redeem himself and become a hero.
"Very well."
Lucas extended his right hand, and a ball of solid flowing light materialized out of thin air in his palm—it was none other than the Calcified Speed Force.
He struck a bolt of the Speed Force into A-Train’s chest.
Boom!
While the Speed Force linked with A-Train, it also carved out a Speed Force origin pool in this World, and Lucas took the opportunity to inject a wisp of Speed Force energy into it.
He also massively infused his own divine power.
Binding this World’s Speed Force onto him.
This also meant that from now on, this Universe would possess its own Speed Force laws, and in the future, it would continuously give birth to Speedsters.
