The Broken Halo

The reason why Lilith did not continue attacking Sunless after throwing her into the cliff of the ravine was because of Simon’s body.

She needed to give it time to rest.

She needed to allow UnholyRegeneration stabilize his body before it completely broke apart.

She wished she had a few more seconds, five at most, to not only ease the pressure that was on Simon’s body but to also locate Sunless’ soul.

However, time was a luxury her and Simon could not afford at the moment.

The moment Sunless attacked, shadow spears fell toward Lilith from the sky, shadow chains shot across the ground toward her, shadow blades slashed at her from every side, and shadow arrows rained down without end.

Lilith’s golden eyes narrowed slightly, and for the first time, she used both hands to hold the Chaos Blade.

The Chaos Wraps tightened around her arms, and dark golden cracks spread across her hands and moved toward his elbows as she channeled her demonic energy throughout Simon’s body.

Simon’s skin split open and his blood fell from the sky.

Unholy Regeneration healed once again, but his skin split open for the second time.

It was like a cycle.

Lilith took note of this, but she didn’t back down because of it.

She took a step forward and swung the Chaos Blade.

It was not fast.

At least... it didn’t look fast in the eyes of those that were watching compared to the speed of the shadow hands and weapons.

But every time the Chaos Blade moved, something was cut.

A shadow spear split in two.

A shadow chain shattered.

A shadow blade broke apart.

A shadow arrow disappeared.

Lilith moved through the storm of attacks with a terrifying calmness.

She dodged what she needed to dodge, blocked what she needed to block, and cut what she needed to cut.

Her movements were simple, and there was no wasted motion.

No unnecessary strength.

No fear.

No panic.

Only an aura, demeanor, and expression that expressed the absolute control she had over the battle.

However, Simon’s body was not as calm as her mind.

The more Lilith moved, the more his body broke.

A crack appeared on his chest.

Then another appeared on his back.

His fingers trembled slightly as blood dropped from them. Then a faint tearing sound came from his bones.

Lilith frowned, and Sunless’ black eyes flashed with a cold light.

"How long do you plan on pushing his body? You’re going to be the cause of his death, not me?"

Lilith looked at her with an amused expression.

"If you care so much about him, why don’t you back off and tell me where you’re hiding your soul. I promise to not completely destroy it, only half of it."

Sunless laughed, but it was a cold laugh that was filled with anger and killing intent.

The massive shadow figure behind Sunless raised all its weapons at once.

"I despise you, bitch."

Lilith’s expression became colder.

"I can say the same for you, shadow walker."

Sunless vanished, and the massive shadow figure also vanished at the same time.

Lilith’s draconic golden eyes moved.

A shadow appeared beneath her feet.

Then above her.

Then behind her.

Then on both sides.

Five shadows appeared all around Lilith!

And a second later, Sunless appeared from all of them.

No.

Not Sunless.

Shadow clones.

Each clone held a shadow weapon and rushed toward Lilith.

At the same time, the real Sunless suddenly appeared directly in front of Lilith and thrust her blade toward Lilith’s heart.

Lilith raised the Chaos Blade and blocked the real Sunless

CLANG!

Then she turned her body and kicked one shadow clone apart.

This time around, Lilith decided to use the Chaos Wraps.

The Chaos Wraps moved like serpents and tore through another shadow clone.

Lilith swung the Chaos Blade behind her and destroyed three more.

But the clones kept coming.

At first they were five, but now there were dozens of shadow clones.

They rushed from the shadows endlessly.

Some were cut apart.

Some were destroyed by the Chaos Wraps.

While some managed to land attacks on Lilith. Cuts, holes, and bruises appeared on Lilith’s arms, legs, shoulders, and back.

Blood flowed from these injuries, but at the same time, UnholyRegeneration healed.

However, the cracks became deeper. The dark golden cracks around Simon’s eyes had now spread toward his forehead.

His mixed white and black hair fluttered wildly as the pressure around him continued to rise.

Lilith suddenly stepped forward and headbutted a Sunless.

Bang!

Sunless staggered backward, then Lilith grabbed her by the throat.

However, the Sunless immediately dissolved into a shadow.

The real Sunless appeared behind Lilith and swung her Shadow Blade toward Lilith’s neck.

Lilith quickly lowered her head.

The blade passed over her hair and cut several strands of black and white hair.

Lilith’s eyes became slightly colder, then she turned and slashed at Sunless.

Sunless raised a shadow shield, but the shield was cut apart.

Before the Chaos Blade could touch her, she sank into her shadow again.

The shadow clones were about to continue attacking Lilith, but Lilith suddenly stabbed inside Sunless’ shadow before it disappeared.

Then she twisted the Chaos Blade.

For a second, nothing happened.

Then the five shadows around her suddenly emitted a dense dark golden light.

The light spread across the battlefield in the sky, and the moment it touched the shadow clones, they were shredded into pieces.

Several meters away, Sunless suddenly emerged from a shadow with blood flowing from her mouth.

Her eyes were filled with disbelief.

Cough!

Lilith coughed out a mouthful of dark golden blood, then she wiped away the blood on her lips with a calm expression.

She then looked at Sunless who still had a surprised expression.

Lilith sneered.

"You think hiding in shadows makes you untouchable?"

Sunless did not respond, instead, she wiped the blood from her lips.

Her expression became more serious.

The two stared at one another from a distance.

The forest around them was no longer a forest.

It was now a battlefield filled with deep trenches, broken trees, shattered stones, and distorted shadows mixed with dark golden light all around.

The ground had been cut open in several places, and the nearby mountain that Lilith had split continued to collapse slowly in the distance.

The sky above Blackwind Valley was also no longer clear.

Dust filled the air.

Dark clouds gathered above and around them.

Shadows moved across the ground like living things.

Dark golden light flickered around Lilith like the last light of a dying sun.

This was the power of Demi-Gods.

Event though both of them were restraining themselves and were not unleashing their powers with reckless abandon, their battle was extremely terrifying.

For a few seconds, both of them remained still.

Then Sunless looked at the clan and pointed at it.

A black light appeared on her fingers, and the Shadow Veil was activated once again, protecting the clan.

She then summoned a Shadow Blade and pointed it at Lilith.

Lilith indifferently raised the Chaos Blade.

The two vanished at the same time.

BOOM!

They clashed in the center of the battlefield, then they vanished again.

BOOM!

They appeared above the trees, then they vanished.

BOOM!

They appeared in the sky, then they vanished.

BOOM!

The appeared on the crumbling mountain and their clash shattered it into pieces.

Then they vanished.

Every clash created a shockwave, and every shockwave destroyed more of Blackwind Valley.

The forest sank.

The ground split.

The ravine trembled.

Sonya and the others could no longer see the fight properly.

They could only see flashes of dark gold and black moving across the valley.

Every time the flashes met, destruction followed.

A dark golden slash flew past them and cut through a group of trees.

A shadow arrow missed Lilith and struck the ground near Akaza, causing the ground to explode.

The group of four were terrified for their lives despite having moved far away from the two ancient monsters.

"RUN!" Akaza screamed.

While Akaza and the rest were running, Sunless suddenly distanced herself further from Lilith.

She stood on a shadow in the sky, then she said.

"I’ve had enough of this."

What she did next, caused Lilith’s eyes to widen.

Sunless stabbed her heart with her shadow blade, then the words came out of her mouth.
