"My high school class president," Vera Xavier said. She didn’t hide it, because she felt there was nothing to conceal.

Fiona Wright’s eyes lit up with a gossipy glint. After all, Veridia University’s admissions were extremely strict; it was rare for two students from the same high school class to get in. Considering Shane Caldwell’s behavior today, she was fairly certain he had only aimed for Veridia University because of Vera Xavier.

Seeing the look in her eyes, Vera Xavier quickly said, "It’s not what you think. We’re just normal classmates. Besides, I already have a boyfriend, and we have a great relationship."

"You have a boyfriend?" Fiona Wright’s eyes widened in surprise. "How come you’ve never mentioned it before?"

Vera Xavier put a finger to her lips. "You never asked!"

She knew Nathaniel Nathan would definitely be visiting her often from now on. She just felt it was a bit awkward to bring up that they were married, but there was no reason she couldn’t mention she was in a relationship.

Fiona Wright leaned in conspiratorially. "Is your boyfriend a student here?"

Vera Xavier shook her head. "No, he’s a soldier. He’s usually very busy."

At this, Fiona Wright’s eyes grew even brighter. "Your boyfriend isn’t the Chief Instructor, is he?"

Ever since the military training began, Sheldon Caldwell had treated Vera Xavier differently, seeming to hold her to an exceptionally high standard.

And since Fiona Wright knew that Sheldon Caldwell and Vera Xavier already knew each other, her mind immediately jumped to that conclusion.

She quickly said, "What are you talking about? My boyfriend is a thousand, no, ten thousand times better than the Chief Instructor! Besides, if he were really my boyfriend, would he be putting me through the wringer like this?"

Fiona Wright thought about it and had to admit she had a point. When it came to the military training, Sheldon Caldwell really hadn’t shown Vera Xavier any mercy whatsoever.

So she said with a smile, "Well, when your boyfriend has some free time, you should bring him to campus so we can meet him!"

Vera Xavier nodded. "Sure, I’ll mention it to him."

’With all the rumors Susan Caldwell is spreading,’ she thought, ’unleashing my ultimate weapon—Nathaniel Nathan—is probably the only way to shut them down.’

She sensed someone watching her. Turning her head, she saw Susan Caldwell staring right at her. She gave Susan a slight raise of her eyebrow. Susan Caldwell smiled back, but her smile was filled with an icy chill.

In response, Vera Xavier simply rubbed her hands together. The color instantly drained from Susan Caldwell’s face. Seeing this, Vera Xavier’s eyes curved into happy crescents.

Susan Caldwell clenched her fists in resentment. Vera Xavier could completely overpower her physically; she was still aching from their last encounter! ’I need to give Autumn Rhodes a little push,’ she thought. ’No matter what, Vera Xavier needs to be taught a lesson she’ll never forget.’

At the end of the day’s military training, a girl walked up and handed her an envelope. "Vera Xavier, the Chief Instructor asked me to give this to you."

Vera Xavier was the current leader of her squad, so instructors usually notified her directly if anything came up. However, Sheldon Caldwell had never approached her like this before.

She thanked the girl and took the letter. The message inside was simple: "Meet at Red Maple Woods at 8:30 tonight."

Vera Xavier’s brow furrowed slightly as she read the single line of text. Ever since she and Sheldon Caldwell had gone to see Winter Sullivan, he had been busy, and he had also been avoiding her to prevent any gossip. He had certainly never tried to meet her alone. ’This is interesting,’ she thought.
