Chapter 766: Chapter 766: Stunning the Audience (6)
For a student who had only just started handling a gun, a score like that was an absolute miracle!
The staff member in charge of checking the target scores froze when he saw the result. He had to check it three full times before he could confirm that Vera Xavier had really scored five perfect tens!
He immediately reported it to the captain in charge of verifying the data. The captain was also taken aback, as not even professionals with years of training could pull off a score like that.
The captain walked over to the Veridia University squad and asked, "Who is Vera Xavier?"
Vera Xavier stepped forward. "I am. Is there a problem?"
The captain had expected a boy, so he was surprised to see it was a delicate, beautiful girl!
He was even more astonished and quickly asked, "Have you practiced before?"
Before Vera Xavier could answer, Sheldon Caldwell chimed in from the side, "What’s wrong? Blown away by a genius from our Veridia University? Let me tell you, there’s more where that came from!"
The captain just smiled without saying anything more, then presented the competition results to the leaders on the main platform.
The leaders were all stunned when they saw the competition results. The overall skill level of this year’s cohort was higher than in previous years, yet the top score came from Veridia University—the only non-specialized academy participating. What shocked them most was that someone had actually managed to score five perfect tens, and on top of that, it was a girl.
The deans and leaders who had been waiting to see Veridia University make a fool of itself were truly dumbfounded this time. They had assumed Veridia University might score a few points in the team events, as that wasn’t too difficult with rigorous training. But the individual skill results left them utterly stunned!
With a score like Vera Xavier’s, she was the undisputed professional champion! And yet, she wasn’t even a student from a specialized academy!
Leader Sullivan couldn’t help but remark admiringly, "This young lady, Vera Xavier, is quite impressive!"
After saying that, he thought for a moment before turning to Nathaniel Nathan. "Compared to you back in the day, who’s more skilled?"
"Of course I am," Nathaniel Nathan said with a placid expression. "It’s just five perfect tens on a fifty-meter target. Nothing to brag about."
In truth, he was swelling with pride. ’My wife really is amazing,’ he thought. ’She can hit a bullseye with every shot, even just fooling around!’
He recalled the last time they were in Trellis, when he’d discovered Vera Xavier seemed to have an extremely sharp intuition in this regard. She’d even dared to use herself as bait to lure out Trent Thornton in that situation.
Leader Sullivan chuckled. For a student just starting their training, hitting all perfect tens on a fifty-meter target was easily the best performance by a recruit in the last decade. He decided to see if Vera Xavier had any more surprises in the upcoming events. Based on this skill alone, he was determined to meet her after the competition was over.
Meanwhile, when Skylar Crowe heard Vera Xavier’s score, her eyes filled with disbelief. She instinctively shouted, "Cheating! Vera Xavier is cheating!"
Her voice was so loud that all the nearby students and instructors heard her.
Vera Xavier heard it too. The scene was strikingly similar to what had happened not long after she was reborn—when she had scored first in her class, Cara Preston and Elise Langdon had made the same loud accusations.
She couldn’t help but wonder, ’Why do these people always say such idiotic things when they encounter someone exceptional? Is it because they’re too foolish to believe that more talented people exist in this world?’
Sheldon Caldwell wasn’t around at the moment, so Shane Caldwell stepped forward. "Back when we were training at the university," he said, "Vera Xavier was hitting bullseyes every single time..."
