Chapter 767: Chapter 767: A Harsh Slap in the Face (1)

"Are you questioning the integrity of the university instructors?" Vera Xavier cut Shane Caldwell off and walked right up to Skylar Crowe.

Since the event’s host was one of the universities, their own military training instructors were responsible for verifying the data.

’She knew a bit about Skylar Crowe. What was the point of arguing with someone so dense? It was easier to just put her in her place!’

Shane Caldwell froze for a moment. He stared, captivated, at Vera Xavier, whose back was ramrod straight and whose expression was cool and distant.

He felt her presence growing more and more powerful. Just by standing there, she completely overshadowed Skylar Crowe.

He recalled her character; she never let anyone get the better of her. He realized she was going to handle this herself, which meant she was rejecting his help. A wave of disappointment washed over him.

Skylar Crowe hadn’t expected Vera Xavier to step forward like that. In truth, she had blurted out the word "cheating" on impulse; she didn’t actually believe Vera Xavier was that skilled.

Shooting was her greatest strength, and she had achieved a stunning score herself. Her plan was to wait for Vera Xavier’s results and then thoroughly humiliate her. Instead, Vera’s score was a hard slap in the face.

She looked at Vera Xavier and said, "You must have used some underhanded trick. Otherwise, how could a country bumpkin like you, who’s never even touched a weapon, possibly get a score like that?"

As she spoke, her expression turned cold. "Someone saw you batting your eyes at the guy recording the scores just now. Don’t tell me you brought your seductive, foxy little tricks to the shooting range?"

Vera Xavier looked at her and said, "Apologize."

"Why should I apologize to you?" A hint of disdain appeared in Skylar Crowe’s eyes. "Who do you think you are, to make me apologize? Besides, I wasn’t wrong. Other people might not know your true colors, but I certainly do."

’After her rebirth, Vera felt she had become much less restrained. Her temper was shorter, and she wasn’t as patient as she had been in her past life. Still, she felt that resorting to violence or getting into a shouting match with Skylar Crowe here would be an insult to her own dignity.’

Just then, the young man in charge of registration walked over. Vera Xavier looked at him calmly and said, "This student here claims I was seducing you, and that you cheated for me by recording a perfect score of five ten-point shots. Could you please report this to your superiors? I’d like to shoot again, in front of everyone. It would be a good way to show her that with my skill, I don’t need to bat my eyes at anyone."

The young man was one of the military training instructors from the National Defense University. He was dumbfounded when he heard what Vera Xavier said. He had noticed earlier that she was a rare beauty, but she hadn’t given him so much as a single glance the entire time. Where was this accusation of seduction coming from?

Furthermore, the accusation of cheating in a place like this was a tremendous insult to his integrity. He flared up immediately, turning to Skylar Crowe to ask, "Are you accusing me of cheating for this student?"

Skylar Crowe’s expression instantly soured. She had only said those things at Susan Caldwell’s behest. The plan was to find an excuse to single Vera Xavier out, then use that as a springboard to publicly accuse Vera of seducing Sheldon Caldwell at Veridia University, thereby completely ruining her reputation.

Matters between men and women were the most difficult things in the world to explain. Many times, the more you tried to explain, the guiltier you looked. So, she felt this was the perfect opportunity.
