Chapter 787 - A proper hunt
Chapter 787: 787 - A proper hunt
Yunxi ate as if there were no tomorrow, her eyes sparkling with pure delight as she devoured juicy drumsticks, still-warm buns that released little clouds of steam with every bite, and a variety of colorful treats scattered across the table.
Beside her, Linyue and Xueyao indulged in the food with equal enthusiasm, chewing voraciously as their cheeks puffed out with every bite.
It wasn’t until nearly three minutes later that, with a small, muffled burp and a face flushed with embarrassment, Yunxi finally realized just how out of control she’d become.
Fortunately, none of Qingyi’s other wives seemed to notice her slip-up.
They were all eating with the same voracious appetite, and even while stuffing herself like that, Yunxi was still a noble girl and managed to maintain a certain level of decorum between bites.
In the end, breakfast proceeded smoothly until, after a few dozen minutes, the girls finished, their stomachs satisfied and smiles plastered on their faces.
Xue Hua and Rou’er accompanied Auranys and Ruxue to the hot springs located at the back of the temple.
Yunxi, on the other hand, walked alongside Linyue and Xueyao, the three of them cutting through the air toward the forest of the Mind World like arrows shot from a bow.
"Ah... you’re so fast, big sis Yunxi!" Xueyao exclaimed, her eyes sparkling as her fluffy, snow-white tail danced behind her, leaving a faint trail of cold energy in the air.
"Yeah! I can barely keep up..." Linyue panted beside her, her cat ears trembling slightly with the effort.
Yunxi, in response, merely let out a soft chuckle, the corners of her lips curving slightly.
Well, it was only natural.
After all, she was in the Cosmic Domain Realm, far above them.
"Is that where we’re going to hunt?" she asked, her beautiful blue eyes narrowing for a moment as she watched the forest draw near on the horizon.
"Yes, Nyan!" Linyue nodded excitedly, her speed beginning to slow.
Her body slowly lost momentum, her delicate, bare feet landing gracefully on the sturdy trunk of an ancient tree.
The voluptuous fox landed to the cat girl’s left, her curvaceous body swaying slightly to steady herself, while the tigress took her position on the right, the three of them forming a small triangle among the treetops.
For a moment, they stood still in silence, until Yunxi finally released a surge of Qi around herself, invisible waves spreading like ripples on a crystal-clear lake.
In the next instant, she felt thousands of powerful auras descend upon her, some even reaching the Cosmic Domain Realm, each pulsing with hunger, hostility, and a thirst for blood that was almost palpable in the air.
"Oh... are there that many?" The tigress’s eyes glinted, her lips parting into a savage smile that revealed the sharp tips of her fangs.
"Yes, this is an area where usually only Sister Khaedryss hunts, since the beasts are very powerful... you can handle this, right?" Xueyao asked, looking at Yunxi with eyes full of expectation.
Both of their cultivation levels were too low to handle those beasts, but fortunately, while they were in the mind world, their bodies remained fully protected by the world’s own Qi.
They couldn’t get hurt even if they wanted to.
The tigress smiled, nodding as she opened her hands; razor-sharp claws slowly extended from her delicate fingers, glowing with a faint bluish hue.
It was a shame her husband wasn’t there to accompany her on this hunt, and well, it was also a shame that this wasn’t exactly a hunt, since all the beasts were already charging toward her to attack.
Still, she would be content for now.
Once she was done with these, she would be more careful with her Qi senses and could carry out a more proper hunt.
After all, hunting was much more than simply wallowing in rivers of blood.
It was the pursuit, the selection of the ideal prey, and the killing of that prey.
Bai Yunxi took a step forward, plunging into the dense forest, leaves rustling around her feet.
The powerful jaws of a beast snapped open before her—immense and voracious, with fangs the size of swords ready to devour her whole.
Bai Yunxi barely paid it any mind, the open palm of her right hand slicing through the air in a casual, almost lazy motion.
Her claws glowed with crystal-clear blue Qi, and from them, five luminous strands shot forth, slicing through the air toward the beast like silver lightning bolts.
A pitiful hiss echoed through the forest as, without the slightest resistance, Bai Yunxi severed the neck of the enormous creature—an eternal crystal python.
The head, covered in golden scales and weighing more than two metric tons, was hurled into the air, the gigantic body writhing in violent spasms, spurting silver blood that glistened like molten mercury in the light filtering through the treetops.
The tigress’s body spun with grace, her delicate feet landing for a brief moment on the beast’s enormous head before, with a powerful thrust, she lunged forward.
Her body shot off to one side at blinding speed as the python’s head crashed into the ground with a thunderous roar that made the earth tremble beneath her feet.
Bai Yunxi braced her fist, the muscles of her arm delineated beneath her pale skin, and then punched forward with all the force her body could muster.
Xueyao and Linyue simply watched, awestruck and somewhat dazed, while their new little sister tore through the world before her, the punch devastating the forest for dozens of kilometers, rending the ground into a colossal scar, annihilating hundreds of beasts in a single instant, and making the earth tremble as if an earthquake had awakened from the depths.
"Nyan... you’re so powerful, little sister Yunxi!" Linyue declared, her eyes sparkling with admiration. "Well... it would be nice if you left the bodies a little more intact so we could extract resources from them, but that’s okay, Nyan~"
The cat girl spoke with a mischievous giggle, one hand covering her lips.
Yunxi was stronger and older than her, but Linyue had become Qingyi’s wife first, so in the hierarchy, Yunxi was the little sister.
Of course, that rule didn’t apply to everyone.
Linyue wouldn’t call Auranys "little sister," for example.
"Oh... well... I got carried away and ended up losing control a little... Big Sis Ruxue won’t make a fuss about this... right?" Yunxi said, looking at the destruction before her with a somewhat embarrassed smile.
Beast carcasses and broken tree trunks were scattered everywhere, stretching over thirty kilometers in length and two hundred meters in width—a trail of destruction too terrible to have been caused by just a single punch.
"Hm... Nyan, it’s okay... let’s move to a different area; the beasts in this region must be on high alert by now."
