The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man
Chapter 802 - 798: Must Not Tell Anyone
Despite her excitement, Sun Yeshu retained a modicum of rationality. "How do you know this?"
"When I was switched at birth, my adoptive parents lived in the same city district as Gu Jiaojiao," Xu Wenwan casually spun a lie to brush her off. "We weren’t far from each other, so I know a bit about her. She probably doesn’t know me, though."
She actually knew this because she was the one who had written this novel. Naturally, she knew the plot inside and out.
"You absolutely must not tell anyone. This would have a terrible impact on Gu Jiaojiao. She’s someone who has already had a hard life," Xu Wenwan added. "Being unable to conceive is tragic enough. If her reputation is completely ruined on top of that, what would she do? When that happens, Leng Yuan might also be dragged down with her. Wouldn’t everything he owns right now end up benefiting someone else?"
Sun Yeshu hadn’t considered this angle initially. Now that Xu Wenwan reminded her, the thought clicked immediately. Although this was Gu Jiaojiao’s fault, Leng Yuan would undoubtedly be implicated. If the two of them were driven out together, wouldn’t everything in Leng Yuan’s house rightfully belong to the Leng family?
All that money, and such a beautiful courtyard. When Sun Yeshu had caught a glimpse of it from afar back then, she had practically died of envy. She wished she could just snatch it away and move in herself, but she had never dared to act on the impulse. Now that this golden opportunity was laid right in front of her, she would be an absolute fool not to seize it.
Subconsciously, Sun Yeshu ignored Xu Wenwan’s repeated warnings to keep her mouth shut. Instead, she fixated on the idea of ruining Gu Jiaojiao’s reputation and partitioning Leng Yuan’s assets. Having obtained this solid piece of information, she could no longer sit still.
"Wenwan, well, I have some things to take care of, so I’ll be leaving first."
Feigning total ignorance of her true intentions, Xu Wenwan urged her to stay. "Don’t rush off so soon! I don’t have many friends in the County Town. Stay a little longer and chat with me."
Sun Yeshu shook her head. "Maybe another day! I’m pregnant now, so my family will worry if I get back late."
Seeing her insist, Xu Wenwan didn’t press the matter further. After seeing Sun Yeshu off, a subtle smirk curled the corners of her lips. She was just waiting for something to happen to Gu Jiaojiao. When the time came, she would step in and approach Leng Yuan. She refused to believe she couldn’t win him over then. The system had been very displeased over the last two days, simply because she had missed another opportunity recently.
Upon leaving the An family home, Sun Yeshu headed straight for the post office. She handed a clerk ten cents to buy an envelope and some paper, borrowed a pen, and found a quiet corner to sit down and write.
The clerk didn’t pay much attention and waited until she finished writing before generously offering, "I can mail that out for you!"
Sun Yeshu smiled. "I just remembered that my mother also has something she wants to say. I’ll take it back so she can add a few lines, and I’ll mail it the next time I come!"
The clerk thought nothing of it and let Sun Yeshu leave. She first went to the commune and located the public mailbox. Glancing around to ensure no one was watching, she hurriedly stuffed the envelope inside and quickly walked away.
All the way back from the County Town, the corners of Sun Yeshu’s mouth remained turned up in a smile. Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought some incredibly fortunate event had occurred. Even when doing extra chores, she no longer wore her usual expression of a bitter housewife.
This struck Leng Qingtian as rather odd. Usually, whenever there was work to be done, Sun Yeshu looked utterly reluctant, but today her smile hadn’t faded once. He couldn’t help but ask, "What’s going on? You took a stroll around the County Town and came back this happy?"
Because she was in a stellar mood, Sun Yeshu had far more patience for Leng Qingtian. "Of course. Taking a stroll around the County Town completely changed my mood. Anyway, our lives are only going to get better and better."
After saying this, the thought of the beautiful courtyard crossed her mind again. She pulled Leng Qingtian to the side and whispered, "Tell me, if Leng Yuan’s house became ours, how would you feel about moving in there?"
