The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

Chapter 803 - 799: Stop Dreaming

  • Next Chapter

Leng Qingtian was so frightened that he immediately covered Sun Yeshu’s mouth. He even glanced around guiltily. Only after confirming there were no children around did he let out a sigh of relief.

"Stop talking nonsense. How could Leng Yuan’s house possibly become ours? Quit daydreaming."

Being reprimanded by Leng Qingtian left Sun Yeshu feeling a bit disgruntled.

But then Leng Qingtian added, "Leng Yuan’s house is at the foot of the mountain, right next to Daqing Mountain. You know as well as I do that wild boars often run down during the winter. If one were to break into the house, I definitely don’t have the skills to fight it off."

Leng Yuan dared to live out there because he was capable enough not to fear wild boars. Leng Qingtian, however, was not. He couldn’t fight off a wild boar; if one charged down, he would be the one getting killed.

Sun Yeshu thought it over and decided he made a fair point. Leng Yuan and Gu Jiaojiao had lived at the foot of the mountain in peace for so long that she had completely overlooked the hidden dangers. Now that Leng Qingtian had reminded her, she recalled the times wild boars had come down the mountain to ravage the vegetable gardens. If she were home alone when a boar charged in, she would stand absolutely no chance of survival.

She figured she should forget about the house then. However, she absolutely had to keep some of those Money Tickets.

The more she thought about it, the happier she felt. Especially since Jiang Baishu had given Gu Jiaojiao five hundred yuan when he returned—that was no small sum. Even if she only managed to get a cut of one hundred yuan, it would last her a very long time.

Gu Jiaojiao, of course, had no idea that her family’s money was already being coveted.

She went about her day as usual. After she cooked and ate with everyone, Leng Yuan cleaned up the kitchen. Following dinner, the family gathered in the courtyard to chat about everything under the sun.

Yet, even though the evening was exactly the same as any other, Gu Jiaojiao felt somewhat restless. She kept spacing out mid-conversation.

Noticing this, Sweet Girl couldn’t help but ask out of concern, "Jiaojiao, are you alright? Are you feeling unwell? You look a bit pale."

Gu Jiaojiao touched her forehead. It didn’t feel hot. She wondered if she had just stayed up too late the night before.

"I probably just stayed up too late yesterday, so I’m getting sleepy early today," she replied.

Sweet Girl and Xiao Yang were both incredibly sensible. Hearing this, the two children immediately urged her to wash up and go to bed.

Gu Jiaojiao obediently stood up. She even took her own pulse just to be sure, and only let the matter rest when she didn’t find any issues. She did come to one conclusion, though: she shouldn’t stay up late so easily. Building a healthy sleep routine required countless nights of going to bed early, but ruining that biological rhythm only took one night of staying up late.

As soon as she stepped into the room, Leng Yuan scooped her up into his arms, startling her. Once she recovered from the surprise, she laughingly thumped his chest.

"Put me down."

Leng Yuan didn’t listen. Instead, he placed her gently on the bed, felt her forehead, checked her mouth, and finally even mimicked her earlier actions to check her pulse.

Gu Jiaojiao was left speechless. She watched him for a moment. Seeing how serious and practiced he looked, she couldn’t hold back and let out a PFFT of laughter.

"Doctor Leng, what exactly is my diagnosis?"

Leng Yuan pondered with a deadpan expression for a moment before speaking. "It seems the summer heat is a bit too strong. We should put out the fire."

Gu Jiaojiao’s face instantly turned bright red. For adults, "putting out a fire" was naturally never that innocent.

It was a very harmonious night.

The next day.

Gu Jiaojiao slept in until past seven o’clock. It was summer, so the sun was already high in the sky by the time she finally dragged herself out of bed to eat.

After breakfast, Leng Yuan took the two children up the mountain to pick wild fruits. There wasn’t much work left in the fields right now, so he didn’t need to go. However, there was a lot to do over at the pigpens, so the production team captain had reassigned everyone else there.

Suddenly, Gu Jiaojiao found herself all alone at home.
