The Demon with Holy Radiance
Chapter 715 - 386: Qiong Pass (3)
Yang An’s general rule for dealing with irrational types was to avoid contact whenever possible. He certainly didn’t trust a word they said.
When dealing with people like that, out of every ten words they spoke, twelve were probably lies.
Therefore, Yang An was skeptical of the old man’s words.
"I don’t have any fire. I was lying,"
he said, shaking his head.
His response instantly sent the old man into a rage.
The old man slammed the dead rat in his hand onto the ground and grabbed the iron bars of his cell. From the bloody wounds covering his body, the blood suddenly stood on end like raised hackles, making him look like a hedgehog.
"Lying to me? You dare lie to me? I’m going to kill you!"
The blood on his body solidified into a long, thin needle that shot through the bars of the cell, straight at Yang An.
But before it could reach Yang An, the white substance of the cage—Contaminant Seventy-three—moved first to block the needle, quickly wrapping it up.
"You just wait! You hear me? Just you wait! When the sun comes up, I’ll kill you for sure."
Yang An paid no mind to the man’s outburst. He had already gotten the answer he wanted and was just waiting for morning to leave this place.
At the same time, Yang An noticed that in the front rows of Cell Block A, deep in the darkness, many eyes seemed to be watching.
’If this world’s Mutants were the equivalent of Demon Fiends, then its practitioners would be Cultivators.’
’Mutants lose their sanity and go mad because of the mutant power within them, which does make them similar to Demon Fiends. It’s just that the so-called power in this world is rather unimpressive.’
’But the term Qiong Pass reminded Yang An of the cataclysms and the Turbid Qi of the Origin Realm—more so the latter.’
’When Qiong Pass arrives, the Mutants will grow stronger. That sounds just like in the Origin Realm, where a surge in Turbid Qi would cause anyone affected—be they Cultivator or Demon Fiend—to become more frenzied and powerful.’
’Could this world truly have a direct connection to the Origin Realm?’
Time ticked by, second by second. Several hours passed. The old man was still endlessly threatening Yang An, the strange man named Broken Clock was still fiddling with the bones on the floor, and in the cells further to the front, new Mutants emerged from the darkness, but not a single one was a pure-blooded human.
The dim light in the prison slowly began to brighten, and a stir of excitement rippled through the entire cell block.
"You’re dead! You’re so dead!"
the old man roared at Yang An, his entire body flushed red with excitement as even more blood flowed from his wounds.
Not long after, a piercing alarm suddenly blared through the prison. One by one, the Mutants began to laugh. The sounds of destruction followed as they furiously tried to break out of their cages.
The old man next to Yang An was doing the same. The blood on his body had completely transformed into sharp spikes, which then flowed into his hands to form a sharp blade that he used to hack at the iron bars again and again.
Even the strange man named Broken Clock was now frantically arranging the bones on the ground as his own body began to swell and deform at a visible rate.
Seeing their actions, Yang An knew. Morning had arrived.
BANG—
A sharp sound suddenly echoed from the next cell. The iron bars had been severed at the base. The old man grabbed two of the bars, wrenched them apart to widen the gap, and stepped from his cell into Yang An’s Cell Thirteen with a maniacal laugh, his gaze bloodthirsty.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Contaminant Seventy-three and Contaminant Fifty-two. Even with the arrival of Qiong Pass, you can’t break free from these two. So unlucky. But what’s even unluckier for you is that you dared to piss me off. Now I get to send you to your death."
The old man smiled, raising the blade formed from his blood.
He didn’t dare touch the contaminants confining Yang An—both were quite famous—but he could reach through the cage and plunge the blade into Yang An’s Heart without touching them.
"Actually, I do have fire,"
Yang An suddenly remarked.
"Panicking now that you’re about to die? Too late! You lied to me. Once I kill you, I can take whatever I want for myself,"
the old man laughed, drawing closer step by step.
But he hadn’t taken two steps before a series of CRACKING sounds filled the air. In the next moment, his eyes flew wide, his face a mask of astonishment.
Yang An swung his arms, and with a CRACK, the solidified white substance wrapped around them shattered to the floor. He then grabbed the bars of the cage formed by Contaminant Seventy-three, and with a powerful tug, the entire structure crumbled to pieces.
As for Contaminant Fifty-two, which had been constantly trying to burrow into his body, Yang An simply reached up and effortlessly plucked it off. This umbrella would probably be just an ordinary Magical Artifact in the Origin Realm. With a casual squeeze, he crushed it.
Its tentacles snapped off one by one and scattered in all directions upon hitting the ground, as if trying to flee.
Yang An now looked at the old man with a smile and stretched his limbs.
One of his hands shot out and touched one of the spikes formed from congealed blood on the old man’s body. With his other hand, he rapidly formed a Seal Decision.
"I wasn’t lying. I really do have fire. Since you wanted it so badly, I’ll give it to you."
As his words fell, the old man, who hadn’t yet had time to react, felt his pupils constrict. Dark red flames erupted all over his body, instantly engulfing him.
The Lighting Technique, which could directly ignite blood, had worked as expected. A trace of delight appeared on Yang An’s face.
The roaring flames shot up to the prison ceiling, and the old man’s bloodcurdling scream echoed through the air.
However, in a prison that had already descended into total chaos, the scene merely drew the gazes of many Mutants. They cast a curious glance before turning away to continue their frenzied destruction of everything around them.
Qiong Pass had arrived. This prison could no longer hold them, and they were about to unleash all the rage they had built up during their confinement.
