The Demon with Holy Radiance
Chapter 716 - 387: Outside the City
Having casually dispatched the creepy old man, Yang An did a quick test and found the Lighting Technique was indeed usable. This gave him yet another tool in his arsenal.
The prison was in chaos. The Mutants locked inside were all trying everything they could to break out of their cages, and over a dozen had already escaped.
Area A, which housed the most dangerous Mutants, was the first to be breached.
A burly man emerged casually from cell A-5, his muscles like blocks of rock-hard stone.
"Not bad, kid. Interested in following me? We can escape this place together. I’ll take you outside the city—it’s a paradise for us Mutants."
He walked up to Yang An’s cell and said with a wicked grin.
Yang An had effortlessly destroyed two infamous Contaminated Artifacts, which made the man very interested in him.
"What’s it like outside the city?"
Yang An had been looking for someone to ask about this very subject. He never expected someone to deliver himself right to his doorstep.
"You’re completely clueless. You really must be a newly-born Mutant.
Tsk, tsk. To be so powerful right after you were born... If you join us outside the city, you’re guaranteed to become a truly powerful Mutant. Sooner or later, we’ll conquer this city and welcome the arrival of the Pollution God."
Yang An remained silent, waiting for the man to continue. ’If this guy doesn’t talk, then there’s no reason for him to exist anymore.’
"This entire city, City No. 11, is crawling with Cultivator surveillance. Powerful Cultivators stand guard here, so the moment a Mutant enters, they’re immediately discovered and captured.
But outside the city, it’s a free-for-all. It’s nothing but Mutants. And even though it’s teeming with pollution, for us, it’s the perfect training ground."
The burly man found Yang An’s silent persistence amusing, so he had deigned to explain.
"Is it dangerous there?"
"Dangerous? No, no, no. It’s not dangerous at all for us Mutants. It’s only dangerous for the Cultivators.
As a Mutant outside the city, you can do whatever you want. It’s filled with violence, slaughter... everything you could ever desire. As long as you’re strong enough, you can have it all."
"If that’s the case, why are you trying to conquer this city?"
"To kill these Cultivators who think they’re so righteous, of course. But the most important thing is to get our hands on the Jade."
"What is Jade?"
Yang An asked.
The moment the question left his lips, the burly man’s eyes locked onto him, staring as if at a mouth-watering prize. The man’s expression twisted into something strange.
"You don’t even know what Jade is? Tell you what. If you don’t know, just give me those red stones you’re carrying. In exchange, I’ll answer your question, lead you out of here, and help you join the others outside."
’So the things I’m carrying must be the Jade.’
Yang An understood immediately. The man was trying to trick him with such a clumsy ploy.
All he had on him were the unused Primordial Stones, and they were the only things that fit the description of the "Jade" the man was talking about.
It seemed the Primordial Stones were incredibly alluring to these Mutants. No wonder every monster he’d encountered since entering the 6th Floor had attacked him first. Now, it all made sense.
"Since you know, then hand them over. I don’t need a lot. Three will do."
A covetous expression spread across the burly man’s face. He eagerly closed in on Yang An, looking as though he couldn’t wait another moment, stopping just short of reaching into Yang An’s clothes himself.
Yang An remained unmoved. The man clearly meant him harm, and he couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words on him.
In an instant, countless White Feathers materialized behind Yang An, coalescing into a white shadow that crashed down upon the burly man.
An expression of disbelief crossed the burly man’s face as he looked down at his own body, half of which had been instantly mangled. He trembled, but at the same time, he began to laugh.
"You attacked... You attacked first... AHHH!!"
A crazed howl erupted from his throat. White foam gushed from his torso, pierced by countless White Feathers. The burly man’s body began to swell, his face turning ashen as fangs sprouted from his mouth.
"I’ll kill you, and all the Jade will be mine!"
In a flash, he became utterly frenzied, his bloodshot eyes locking onto Yang An, brimming with killing intent.
But the next moment, Yang An slowly drew a bizarre weapon from his waist—a strange blade composed of innumerable red feathers.
A flash of red light. The strange weapon struck the twisted man’s body, but only managed to carve a moderate-sized gash in his neck.
Blood spurted from the wound, followed by an even greater torrent of thick foam.
The burly man burst out laughing. ’Does this guy really think this thing can kill me? I’m a Level Four Mutant with infinite regeneration!’
Yang An slowly withdrew the Red Feather Blade, then brushed past the man with a blank expression.
The burly man’s laughter stopped abruptly. An uncontrollable power erupted from within his body, rapidly disintegrating his flesh and blood into a putrid mess.
Yang An had only taken a few steps before the burly man behind him melted into a pool of purulent liquid, consumed by a blood toxin. He didn’t even glance back.
Many of the other Mutants in the prison had witnessed the scene. The burly man’s words had revealed that Yang An was carrying a large quantity of Jade, and all those who had been focused on escaping now turned to look at him, their faces alight with greed.
