The Devil’s Reign:The first law of void

Chapter 39:The Truth Doesn’t Sleep

  • Next Chapter

The academy was silent.

Lights out.

Doors closed.

Voices gone.

But one room—

Was still awake.

Elira sat by her window.

Moonlight spilling across her desk.

Papers spread out.

Names.

Reports.

Witness accounts.

All connected by one person.

Lucifer Morningstar.

She tapped the page lightly.

Thinking.

Replaying.

Analyzing.

“…Too clean.”

Everything about him was perfect.

Too perfect.

Top rank.

Perfect scores.

Perfect control.

Perfect timing.

No hesitation.

No fear.

No mistakes.

“…That’s not human.”

What Doesn’t Add Up

She flipped a page.

Village Incident Report

Survivors claim he saved them

Casualties higher than expected

No witnesses to his full movements

“…Selective heroism.”

Next page.

Dungeon Raid

Only two survivors

Unverified combat sequence

Unknown variables in final outcome

“…Too many gaps.”

Next.

Bandit Extermination

Total annihilation

No prisoners

No interrogation logs

Her eyes narrowed.

“…He erased everything.”

Spirit Sight Activates

She closed her eyes.

Mana flowed.

Quiet.

Precise.

She replayed her encounter with him—

Not visually.

But emotionally.

What she felt from him.

Calm.

Control.

Amusement.

And beneath it—

Something else.

Something cold.

“…You weren’t helping them.”

Her eyes opened.

“…You were using them.”

The Decision

Elira stood.

No hesitation now.

“…I need proof.”

Because suspicion wasn’t enough.

Not against someone like him.

She moved silently through the halls.

No guards stopped her.

No one questioned her.

Princess privilege.

Lucifer’s Room

She stood outside his door.

Quiet.

Still.

Then—

Her hand touched the handle.

Click.

Unlocked.

“…Careless,” she whispered.

Inside the Devil’s Space

The room was… empty.

Too empty.

No clutter.

No personal items.

No identity.

Just:

  • A bed

  • A table

  • A chair

Nothing else.

Elira stepped in slowly.

“…You really don’t belong here.”

She walked to the table.

Ran her fingers across the surface.

No dust.

No scratches.

Then—

She stopped.

A faint mark.

A circle.

Burned into the wood.

Not visible at first glance.

But her Spirit Sight picked it up instantly.

“…A formation?”

She leaned closer.

“…No…”

Her expression shifted slightly.

“…A compression point.”

Realization Begins

She stepped back slowly.

Eyes scanning the room again.

Everything changed.

This wasn’t a room.

It was a control space.

No distractions.

No weaknesses.

No identity.

Just function.

“…You’re not living here.”

A whisper.

“…You’re preparing.”

The First Real Fear

For the first time—

Elira felt it.

Not fear of strength.

Not fear of danger.

Fear of intent.

“…What are you planning?”

The Trap (Lucifer Wasn’t Blind)

“Looking for something?”

Her body froze.

She didn’t turn immediately.

But she knew.

He was there.

Behind her.

Inside the room.

Silent.

Watching.

Face-to-Face

Elira turned slowly.

Lucifer leaned against the door.

Arms crossed.

Relaxed.

Smiling.

But his eyes—

Sharp.

“…You broke in,” he said casually.

Elira didn’t deny it.

“I was curious.”

Lucifer chuckled.

“…And?”

A pause.

“What did you find?”

The Psychological Clash

Elira held his gaze.

Didn’t flinch.

Didn’t step back.

“…Nothing.”

Lucifer’s smile widened slightly.

“…Exactly.”

Silence stretched.

Then—

Elira spoke again.

“You’re hiding something.”

Lucifer tilted his head.

“…Everyone is.”

“You’re different.”

A beat.

“You don’t leave traces.”

The Close Call

Lucifer pushed off the wall.

Walked closer.

Slow.

Measured.

“…And that bothers you?”

Elira didn’t move.

“It means you’re dangerous.”

Now they were close.

Very close.

Lucifer leaned slightly.

“…Only if you’re my enemy.”

End Scene

A pause.

Heavy.

Loaded.

Then—

Elira stepped past him.

“…I’ll find it.”

Lucifer’s voice followed softly—

“I hope you do.”

A faint smile.

Cold.

Anticipating.

“…It’ll be fun.”

The door closed.

Elira walked down the hall.

Calm.

Composed.

But her thoughts were clear.

“…He knew.”

Not guessed.

Knew.

And let her in anyway.

Final Line

Inside the room—

Lucifer sat down.

Eyes darkening slightly.

“…Good.”

A slow grin.

“She’s finally interesting.”
