The Devil’s Reign:The first law of void

Chapter 43:Heaven’s Feast, Devil’s Gambit(After The World Split)

The Wind Dragon's body fell in two clean halves.

For a moment, nothing moved.

Not the air. Not the World Tree. Not even the system notifications.

Then reality caught up.

A tremor rolled through the roots of the World Tree, as if the entire world had just remembered it was alive.

Lucifer dropped from midair and landed on a broken branch, one hand steadying himself while his body forcibly stitched itself back together through rapid healing. Steam rose off his skin like he had been dragged out of a furnace.

His vision flickered.

[KARMA POINTS ACQUIRED]

[TITLE EARNED: KING OF LIFE]

[NEW SKILL GENERATED]

He barely glanced at it.

"...Annoying," he muttered, wiping blood from his lip.

Chirin hovered beside him, unusually quiet. "You're getting reckless."

Lucifer gave a lazy smile. "No. I'm getting efficient."

Below them, the Elf Kingdom was collapsing into controlled chaos.

The barrier that once sealed the entire land had already shattered after Lucifer destroyed the mana crystals hidden beneath the World Tree roots. The wiverns that poured in like a storm were now falling from the sky without command, twitching mid-air before crashing into the burning forest below.

The invasion had lost its brain.

But the damage remained.

At the royal grounds, Mia stood frozen as the sky fractured with fading barrier light.

"...It really was inside the tree," she whispered.

Ema's eyes narrowed toward the World Tree's core direction. "No. Something is still active."

Elira clicked her tongue. "Don't tell me there's another one."

Chirin's voice echoed faintly in Lucifer's mind.

"You felt it too, didn't you?"

Lucifer exhaled slowly. "Yeah."

Something was still moving beneath the world.

And it wasn't retreating.

Without warning, Lucifer turned away from the battlefield.

"Hey," Chirin said immediately, "don't tell me you're—"

"I am," Lucifer interrupted.

He stepped off the branch.

And fell downward into the roots of the World Tree like gravity didn't apply to him anymore.

The deeper he went, the less natural everything became.

Mana veins pulsed like arteries.

Crystals embedded in stone walls shimmered in unnatural synchronization.

This wasn't just a battlefield.

It was infrastructure.

A system.

A controlled ecosystem designed to feed something above.

Chirin narrowed its presence. "This isn't a dungeon."

Lucifer's eyes sharpened. "No. It's a machine."

Above ground, the Elf King collapsed to one knee.

"The barrier wasn't protection..." he whispered. "It was containment."

Mia's face went pale. "Containment for what?"

A distant roar answered her.

Not from the sky.

From below.

Lucifer reached the core chamber again.

But this time, it wasn't empty.

The air itself felt heavy—compressed, waiting.

And at the center of the massive mana network sat a throne carved from wind pressure and bone-white crystal.

The Wind Dragon.

Whole.

Alive.

Uninjured.

Waiting.

"You destroyed my external shell," the Dragon said calmly. "Convenient. I no longer have to maintain it."

Lucifer tilted his head slightly. "So that was just a puppet?"

"A projection," the Dragon corrected. "A necessary one. Your arrival was... unexpected."

Lucifer smirked. "You're the one who built the welcome party."

The Dragon stood slowly.

The chamber responded immediately—wind pressure tightening like shackles around reality itself.

"But you also did something useful," the Dragon continued. "You exposed the World Tree core network."

Lucifer glanced around at the glowing mana circuits.

"Oh," he said lightly. "So this is the real body of the kingdom."

The Dragon's eyes narrowed. "You understand too quickly."

Lucifer raised his gun lazily. "You're not the first thing I've killed that thought it was untouchable."

Above, the World Tree began to tremble violently.

Ema stumbled. "The mana flow is reversing—!"

Chirin's voice sharpened. "He triggered something."

Mia clenched her fists. "Lucifer... what are you doing down there?"

Below—

The air exploded.

Not outward.

Inward.

The Dragon attacked first.

Wind condensed into invisible blades that erased space itself. The chamber bent under pressure as if the world was being folded between fingers.

Lucifer vanished.

Reappeared.

Vanished again.

Each movement left afterimages that tore apart incoming attacks.

But the Dragon adapted instantly.

Predicting trajectories.

Closing gaps.

Forcing control over the battlefield itself.

Lucifer clicked his tongue. "Annoying."

Blood dripped from his arm.

He healed instantly.

The Dragon noticed.

"...You regenerate too fast."

Lucifer smiled faintly. "And you talk too much."

Above ground, cracks formed across the World Tree.

Reality itself was destabilizing.

The Elf King's expression darkened. "This isn't a fight anymore..."

"It's a collapse," Ema finished quietly.

Below—

Lucifer suddenly stopped moving.

The Dragon's eyes narrowed. "Giving up?"

Lucifer raised his gun—but not at the Dragon.

At the glowing mana core behind it.

The entire chamber went silent.

Even the wind paused.

"...You wouldn't," the Dragon said slowly.

Lucifer grinned.

"Bad system design," he replied.

And fired.

The shot didn't hit the Dragon.

It hit the core network.

For a fraction of a second—

Everything stopped.

Then the World Tree screamed.

Mana reversed direction violently. Crystals shattered. The entire underground structure lit up like a dying star.

[SYSTEM ALERT]

[REALM CORE INSTABILITY DETECTED]

[SKILL ACTIVATION: SEVERANCE OVERRIDE]

Lucifer stood in the center of collapsing light.

And whispered:

"Sever."

Above ground, the sky split open.

The Wind Dragon's control over the World Tree broke instantly.

The barrier vanished completely.

And the empire built on it began to fall.
