Chapter 581: Chapter 318: Unparalleled Celestial Pride Fate Chart Has Caught Up

In the forest.

Jiang Man stood on the pitted ground, watching Fairy Mu and the others disappear. He felt a pang of regret. He hadn’t seen a Storage Treasure; this trip had been for nothing.

He then turned to look at Zhao Tiankuo, who was standing to the side. The latter gulped, momentarily at a loss for what to do. To Zhao Tiankuo, the man before him would have seemed incredibly frail even back during his own Peak Stage. Yet, the momentum behind the man’s strike had been astonishing. Moreover, the power emanating from this man was extremely bizarre. It didn’t feel like the Demon Race, nor the Human Race. Although it bore some resemblance to an Evil God, it was completely different. For a moment, he couldn’t distinguish which faction the person before him belonged to.

"Who were they?" Jiang Man asked slowly.

"People from the Celestial Demons of the Demon Race," Zhao Tiankuo replied immediately.

Jiang Man fell silent for a moment. He didn’t know them.

"Do they have anyone else?" Jiang Man asked again.

"It seems so, but I don’t know what they went to do," Zhao Tiankuo answered without hiding anything.

Jiang Man fell silent once more. It seemed they really had gone to kill him. Since when did he form a grudge with the Celestial Demons of the Demon Race?

"They said they were completing a collaboration," Zhao Tiankuo added.

Jiang Man nodded. That made sense. Someone had outsourced the job to these people. That explained it perfectly.

He then vanished quickly. He had to go back and capture those two alive to find out exactly who was collaborating with them. It would be best if he could track this person down. If not, he would still make an effort to look—especially when he had free time. Right now, he didn’t have the time, so he could only make a preliminary attempt. If it didn’t work out, he’d deal with it in four months. Over the next four months, he had to deal with the Unparalleled Celestial Pride Fate Chart.

He was running short on Spiritual Sources.

In Jiang Man’s courtyard.

The two men who were still waiting checked the time and felt it was about time to leave. If they didn’t leave now, it would be too late. They would have to head back on their own, and under such circumstances, they might not be able to escape. Even if they could, it would be extremely perilous.

"Let’s kill them. We’ll leave this Jiang Man a little surprise before we go," the young man said.

Hearing their words, the Tengu huddled beside the Old Yellow Ox, trembling violently. It pretended not to understand and focused on peacefully eating grass. No one had told it that the outside world was this dangerous. Old Meng had claimed the outside world was wonderfully beautiful. As it turned out, he had just tricked it into coming out to be killed. Old Meng was too evil. No wonder he said he would never come out for the rest of his life. Back then, it had even felt pity for Old Meng. Now, it realized it had been utterly wrong.

"Brother Niu, what do we do?" the Tengu asked carefully, terrified of being discovered.

The Old Yellow Ox continued eating grass, offering no response.

The tall, thin man approached the Tengu and hoisted it up in one swift motion. The Tengu struggled, desperate to escape, but it was useless. It was entirely at his mercy. Seeing this, the tall, thin man gathered power in his hand, ready to strike.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed from outside.

Jiang Man abruptly appeared at the courtyard gate, watching the tall, thin man gripping the Tengu.

"Master, save me!" the Tengu immediately shrieked.

At that moment, the young man standing to the side curled his lips into a triumphant smile. "It took no effort at all. Your luck is truly terrible. Had you been even a little bit later, you could have dodged this calamity."

As his voice fell, he took out a piece of gauze and activated it. Instantly, the fabric expanded to cover the entire courtyard. Nothing that happened here would leak out.

The tall, thin man casually threw the Tengu to the ground. "Now, not only are you going to die, but your master is going to die too. Still, your luck isn’t bad. You get to die after your master."

Saying so, both men turned their gazes to Jiang Man, their auras erupting forth. They wanted to force Jiang Man to use his full strength. That way, he would suffer a backlash from his own power. Killing him then would be as easy as flipping their hands.

"Wait a minute." Jiang Man stopped them and asked, "Why do you want to kill me?"

The young man chuckled. "You’re truly hilarious, actually asking why. Wait until the next life when the tables turn—then you can ask me why."

"I am a Primordial Spirit. Can you really kill me?" Jiang Man continued to ask as he watched them approach.

The young man sighed in amusement. "You really are naive. Leaving aside everything else, we are two Primordial Spirits, and we are only stronger than you, not weaker."

"And what if I’m not the only Primordial Spirit here?" Jiang Man asked suddenly.

Hearing this, the young man’s smile froze slightly, but he quickly shook his head. "Impossible. Those three Primordial Spirit experts are still giving lectures; they won’t come over. Other than them, you have no friends at the Primordial Spirit stage."

"We can more or less be considered friends, I suppose," a sudden voice drifted in from outside the courtyard.

Immediately after, Ren Qian walked up to the courtyard gate. He looked at the two men inside, who had frozen in their tracks, and said, "Though I am indeed not a Primordial Spirit, I can suppress one effortlessly. But if you feel like two of you still have the advantage, I brought backup."

As soon as he finished speaking, beams of light descended from the sky. Figures materialized within the light, standing atop the surrounding walls and staring down at the two men in the courtyard.

"Six people in total. That should be enough, right?" Ren Qian asked, looking at the pair.

The young man stared at the surrounding people, his eyes twitching incessantly. He glared at Jiang Man furiously. "If you have the guts, let’s go outside and duel one-on-one! If I lose, I’ll tell you anything!"

"Challenge me?" Jiang Man looked at him earnestly. "Others have to pay ten thousand Spiritual Sources to challenge me. How much are you offering?"

The young man fell silent, momentarily speechless.

Ren Qian shook his head. "Take them away."

As the two were escorted away, they continued to glare furiously at Jiang Man, shouting about how they wouldn’t accept this. Who knew what they were so unresigned about. Perhaps they hadn’t adjusted their mindset yet, or the situation had turned so quickly they hadn’t been able to react.

When Ren Qian left, he mentioned that he would need to interrogate them a bit to determine how many Spiritual Sources they were worth. It was highly likely they weren’t worth much. Jiang Man didn’t mind; twenty thousand would do just fine. Two people meant forty thousand.

It would be even better if they could extract the mastermind behind the scenes, allowing him to find out exactly who was trying to kill him.
